Thanks for the update Kathy Ann. I'm looking foward to his publishing his work. -
ARCHIVED Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa! I Need Your Help!
AndreaB replied to penguin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't know about that either Chelsea. The gloves sound like a good idea. Do you get the same reaction breathing the dust? I hope we see you more again. We aren't mad at you, as has been mentioned you spurred us back to answering questions again, or a lot of times on my part, just saying "hi". -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Results For 19monthold--need Some Help Please!
AndreaB replied to CantEvenEatRice's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The doctor I saw for allergies is outside of my insurance network. I prefer him, he is an md who branched out into allergies and mercury toxicity. He was referred to me from a friend who is also a md. I would think you could get an allergy test from your regular doctor, but I'm not sure. I believe it is still called the ELISA test. My doctor goes through... -

Sounds like you have a good doctor Matilda. My regular was willing to run a celia panel for me but since I was gluten light for 1 1/2 months I opted for enterolab. The doctor I see for allergies is really good and is an md. -

From my understanding that is also a life long "free". I'm so glad to read that he is doing better already. As far as the allergy test...you could have the one that is a finger prick, but I think that that just tests for the IgG (long term reaction). That's what I just had done for my two oldest. We'll find out towards the end of October what... -

Beverly, I think it is the residual effects....but who knows since that was this weekend. Keep us posted on how you are doing. -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
AndreaB replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Rachel, I suspect that they will want to talk about it in person.....not over the phone. When I had my bloodwork done for my elevated liver enzymes they made me come in. It was negative for hepatitis but they wouldn't tell me that over the phone. -

Christina, Please don't get an abortion. That is not the answer. There are people that could adopt that baby that can't have their own or that want another baby in the house. Sometimes a couple is willing to finance everything up to the birth of the child and then you reliquish rights to that child. There is legal paperwork for this I believe. -
ARCHIVED Marmalade
AndreaB replied to vanesonica's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Have you checked St. Dalfour. I haven't had that for a long time (before gluten free), but they are fruit spreads and don't have a lot of added ingredients. Be worth checking into. -
Lynne, Isn't Louisville the thorobred capital of the states? Are there a lot of farms in your area? I love horses.

ARCHIVED Officially Lost Last Shred Of Faith In Medical Community
AndreaB replied to lawstudent's topic in Doctors
Hi lawstudent and welcome! I don't really have anything to add except to pursue enterolab if the full celiac panel was not run. You could also use enterolab just for the gene test. I do know there are ELISA tests that you can choose to include candida. I think it was an extra $150 if I had choose to have it done. Keep us posted on your research... -

AndreaB replied to tammy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I haven't had these but if I remember correctly some people do react to them due to cc. -
You guys are giving me a chuckle this afternoon. The doctor I saw for allergies is a md that has branched out to allergies and toxicity. When my son was 3 months old I went in for allergy testing since he was strictly breastfeed. Whatever showed allergic (above low), I dropped and his eczema started to clear. I did not test allergic to oats or barley...

No you didn't. I referred to the diet since some people (not celiac/gluten intolerant) seem to think that the gluten-free diet isn't healthy.

I was reading that this morning too Scott. Thank you for stepping in. Seems like we've had our share of disurbers lately. It's not bad to get people to think but telling people it's in their head, celiac can be cured so you can eat gluten, etc..... Patti, Didn't I read recently that you were thanked for getting people to think outside the...

AndreaB replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Rachel, By all means.....call the doctor.....tell him you and many others want to know....NOW. Who want to wait until next week? Anyone? Vincent, Rachel is being tested for lyme. She was referred to a new doctor because of possible mercury toxicity. The doctor wanted to rule out lyme first I think. Patti, That would... -

When I pressure washed our manufactured home it almost blinded us when we looked at it. It was pretty easy to see where you had cleaned. It was really bad, dirt and mold/algae. Now we live in a rental....hey maybe I could pressure wash the weeds......blast them right out of the ground. Nah, that wouldn't work would it? -

AndreaB replied to frenchiemama's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You can leave the yeast out. It does add some flavor but is fine without it. I've started a thread with some gluten, dairy and mostly soy free recipes that are in cookbooks that I have. Open Original Shared Link -

Glad you didn't get glutened Ryan. Hope everyone is on the mend soon. Ok, That's Rachel and Donna so far for meeting in Sacramento. My hubby thinks I need to fly down instead of drive or take the train. It would depend on if we wanted to just get together for a day or the weekend. When is another problem.....sometime in the next year? -
ARCHIVED Getting Tested This Week
AndreaB replied to Sketch's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome Sketch! I don't have first hand experience to offer....I'm one that didn't have obvious symtpoms. I went gluten lite due to allergies and then went through enterolab since I figured the blood draw would register from what I'd read. Please keep us posted as to your tests. One thing I wanted to bring up is that if you do have celiac (and... -
ARCHIVED Help Me Understand The Whole Pots And Pans Thing...
AndreaB replied to melie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
As far as I understand from reading here. Stainless steel is good. Non stick is hard to get the gluten out if it's scratched, I think the same may be true for cast iron. I got rid of my cast iron and wooden utensils as well as some of the old plastic, like the colander and cooking spatulas. -
ARCHIVED Celebration!
AndreaB replied to schuyler's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Danielle, That's great news about the boys growth, your parents getting custody, reduced visits from their father. I'm sorry about their mother getting hurt. Please keep us posted, I'm sure she'll be glad to be back stateside in a couple weeks/months.
