Have you tried enjoy life chocolate chips? I really like those. -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Or York
AndreaB replied to Corkdarrr's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had enterolab testing done and found out I was intolerant to gluten and soy. I am gluten, soy and dairy allergic as well. I would either suggest enterolab for intolerances or york for allergies (isn't that what they do). Allergies and intolerances are different things and you may need testing for both to give you an idea. If you want to save money... -
I would have been extremely frustrated and mad in that situation. How is your son this morning?

ARCHIVED Shocking Story #2
AndreaB replied to concerned-mom061's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I agree with fiddle-faddle gfp. Nice post......very sorry for what your mother had to go through. I have made friends on this site that don't believe the way I do, which is just fine. We don't push each other's beliefs on each other and are comfortable with that. This board has helped me a lot in this area. I think a lot of it comes down to the... -
ARCHIVED Dairy Free Fudge?
AndreaB replied to daffadilly's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
If you can have products with soy lecithin....I have a great recipe. Carob Fudge from Newstart Lifestyle Cookbook 4 cups date or malt sweetened , non dairy carob chips (substitute with non gluten, non dairy chocolate chips) 1 cup almond or peanut butter 1 cup chopped nuts 1 cup raisins Place chips and almond butter in a double boiler over low... -

ARCHIVED Enterolab Results
AndreaB replied to bugsmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes, you should get tested too. No one in my family had obvious symptoms. I went through enterolab and had my husband and 2 of my children tested based on my allergy results. Myself, daughter and oldest son have active gluten intolerance....see sig. Our numbers were not high, and we don't have the extensive damage but would have had more damage each year... -
ARCHIVED Relief Frpm Stomach Pain
AndreaB replied to KyKelBri2's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I don't have any advice for pain relief, I'm sorry. I wanted to find out if you have had her tested for other intolerances or allergies. It could be that she is responding to something other than possible cc. Dairy and soy are two other big ones, but you'd probably want to look at the top allergens. If you don't want the expense of testing then do... -

ARCHIVED Enterolab Test
AndreaB replied to Mayflowers's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I felt fine. Going vegan got us out of eating more unhealthfully but I have since learned that if you eat the meat that's raised the way nature intended that it is healthier. We went back to meat due to our intolerance to gluten and soy and my allergy to dairy. We feel much better on the meat eating diet than the vegan diet. I find that I don't have to... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Results
AndreaB replied to bugsmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Wow! The genes he has are gluten sensitive genes which from what I understand doesn't indicate celiac although they are pretty much the same. I'm beginning to think that the gluten sentitive genes just haven't been recognized by the majority of the doctors...but I could be wrong. Has he been tested for vitamin deficiency at all? He does... -
ARCHIVED Shocking Story #2
AndreaB replied to concerned-mom061's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Your whole statement was very well stated.....I just copied a part of it. I am a believer and don't understand everything that happens, but do trust that God is in control even when our lives our spinning out of control. I also respect those who do not believe the same way I do. We all are free to choose if we believe in a higher being or nothing. -

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something

Yep, that was the question. Basically I was trying to think of the meats that would be easiest on the digestive track and stomach. -

Miamia, Keep us posted on how you are doing. I'm trying to think what would be easier on the stomach meat wise. Fish would seem to be one since it flakes and breaks down easy, maybe ground beef. Please be careful about what kind of meat you buy also. You want to buy the 100% grass fed, organic, natural....along those lines for the best meat healthwise... -
I agree with the others. Why put the children through that for 1)they've had positive dietary response 2)they have a sibling that has celiac/gluten intolerance 3)biopsies are highly unreliable (presuming that would be one of the tests) 4)the children don't want to do it and it is not necessary for their health and well being.

ARCHIVED Kale/collard Recipes
AndreaB replied to Suzie-GFfamily's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I think I've seen it around with the beets, brussels, chard; but yes, do ask. -
Marcie, That's a tough question. My immediate response would be go gluten free or at least gluten light. I am gluten intolerant and probably was during my last pregnancy but it wasn't until my son broke out with eczema around 2 months of age that I started down the road that has lead to that diagnosis from enterolab. He's 9 months now. Have you been...

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
AndreaB replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Miamia, That does make sense. Would I be correct that this is more the case of if you have a leaky gut or something like that? I hadn't eaten meat for 7 years when we picked it back up and, thankfully, didn't have any reactions. Beans on the other hand, that I don't have much, don't go so well with me. I'm all for cutting out the bad things... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Test
AndreaB replied to Mayflowers's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
As a former vegan, I don't recommend that diet if you have intolerances. It would be extremely difficult to maintain your health. Obviously lacto-ovo is out. If you are choosy about your meat and try to only buy the organic, natural, 100% grass fed meats it will be much better and tastier. The natural meats have a better balance of the omega's. We order... -

ARCHIVED Help Interpreting Resluts Of Blood Work & Next Steps
AndreaB replied to Daria's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I've never experienced a biopsy but from what I understand the have a tube that goes down your throat to the start of your intestines and they take samples from various spots and then analyze them to see if they are damaged. They can see whether there is redness or irritation. Just because a biopsy can be negative doesn't mean that gluten is not a problem...
