ARCHIVED Is 17 Months Too Young To Do Blood Test For Celiac?
AndreaB replied to Luvs to Scrap's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The only way to test her being gluten free is through enterolab and they can do the testing now with a stool sample. Click Open Original Shared Link for more info. Meanwhile we'll be waiting for you to post her results. -

I've been trying to teach my kids to say Miss so and so or Mister so and so, using first names. They hear us use first names all the time so it's kind of difficult to teach them to say Mr or Mrs so and so. I was raised to call people by their first name so that probably doesn't help any. I did have one friend who's dad insisted on Mr, so that's how I addressed... -
ARCHIVED Lanigan's Story... Any Advice
AndreaB replied to andersonfam06's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I don't know what to tell you. I would definately go gluten free with him. Have you been on a gluten free diet? If you want an official diagnosis by trying a biopsy then you can't go gluten free with him yet. I don't even know if they do biospies on infants. If you can afford the extra cost, enterolab does stool tests for gluten, as well as dairy, soy... -
ARCHIVED 9 Month Old Just Diagnosed
AndreaB replied to andersonfam06's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Michelle, Welcome to the forum. You've come to the right spot to learn about celiac/gluten intolerance. TCA will probably post on here at some point. She has a little girl that is going in for heart surgery next week. I have an 8 month old who I haven't tried gluten foods on yet. He broke out in eczema that didn't clear up until I went soy and... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab...legit?
AndreaB replied to linz7997's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't know, but Carla sounds like she's on the nose with her thought. I do know I've read that some doctors do use them, and other doctors will take the results of people's tests by them and accept it as diagnosis. I am also very happy with them and Dr. Fine does/has written up the analysis info for us and is available for questions as well. -
We like calcium fortified orange juice. Broccoli is a good calcium source too as well as almonds.

Celia, That is so exciting! You will have so much fun with your grandbaby......will we still see you on here? I know we will and I'm happy for you. Chelsea, It sounds like your gluten challenge could be the culprit. You still have a month left? I meant to comment on the weight watchers pages ago but forgot. I would think the weight... -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
AndreaB replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Celia and I must be doubly blessed. My hubby works hard all day and comes home and helps with whatever needs to be done. I just told him last night that I only eat 2 meals a day during the week but since he's home on the weekend I eat 3 because he takes such good care of me. He's always asking what I want for breakfast and if I don't know or don't feel... -

Miamia, You can only be cheerleader if it doesn't take away from chef duties. You were one of our chefs weren't you...or is my memory failing me. Did you guys know that msg has been linked with autism? That's in Excitotoxins...from our discussion about 70-80 pages ago. Motherly mayor....we can go with that. -
ARCHIVED Most Accurate Test
AndreaB replied to baldridgem's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
linz, Enterolab is the non invasive, more accurate testing than biopsy and even blood work if you haven't progressed to a lot of damage with this disease. If you want an official doctors diagnosis you would need to do the biopsy and then hope it's positive, which is hit and miss. Some doctors do diagnose with enterolab though. As you stated, you can... -
ARCHIVED Questions On Test Results
AndreaB replied to Collette's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Colette, I can see how you would be so confused. From what I've read you need to be eating the equivalent of 3-4 slices of bread a day for 3 months for biopsies. If you can swing the money I would highly recommend enterolab (referenced above) to have him tested. You would have a definate answer as to whether he is intolerant or not. The stool tests... -

Is Lynne going to take you up on your offer.....if so, she's hired! By the way Rachel has been promoted to President, I'm the mayor although I have no idea what a mayor does. I know, I know...they have numerous meetings to make it look like they have enough work to do. -

Robbin, The 5 stepsons aren't living with us anymore, so I just have my 3. I spend entirely too much time on this board. Gotta work on that. I still need to figure out lesson plans, although I ordered a sample of a plan so that should help me out. Susan, I'm glad you are able to be their for your nieces (don't remember if you said nephews... -

Miamia and Rachel, Please continue to keep us updated. It's exciting to have a med that can help you two out, as well as others. Vincent, This can't be a nuthouse....some people on this thread have allergies or intolerances to nuts. Can everyone eat some form of fruit....then we could be the fruithouse, or fruitcakes if you prefer. -

ARCHIVED I Have A Question
AndreaB replied to kalanfan's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The panel I had run only covered 95 items. I could have done a meat panel with mine but didn't because I wasn't eating meat at the time. In hindsight I should have done that as well. It was a blood draw that was sent to a lab. From what I've heard blood draws are more accurate. I didn't even realize I was allergic to anything. If you are trying to nail... -
ARCHIVED Is Anyone Here Not Actually Diagnosed?
AndreaB replied to kalanfan's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
My family went through enterolab and didn't have any symptoms. Just going off of my allergy tests. 3 out of 4 of us that were tested came back with an active gluten intolerance and we found out that we each have 2 genes that either predispose to celiac or predispose to gluten sensitivity. -

Welcome! Celiac.com also has a list of safe and forbidden foods. Click here to go to the page that has that info. As far as I know yeast extract is safe but it is a form of hidden msg if you are trying to avoid that as well. -

I'm sorry Celia. That wasn't a very kind thing to say. She's probably jealous that you have so many friends on this forum...and friends that understand what you're going through or at least are understanding even if they don't. Rachelville is a great community! -
ARCHIVED Most Accurate Test
AndreaB replied to baldridgem's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I used enterolab for my family even though we didn't have any symptoms. I like them because they can catch the intolerance before there is major damage. 3 out of 4 of us tested positive for gluten intolerance.
