  1. To top it all off, I just found out the Pasta Prima on Albert also has gluten free noodles upon reuqest. Go Queen's city!
  2. So I am potentially onticing a problem with the folic acid and the histamine thing, and since is the mad scientist half of out PGFCF here it goes: Women NEED folic acid if the plan to get/are pregnant. If Folic acid raises histamine levels, and you already have high levels, does this not pose a health risk to both the mother and child? Not that it...
  3. Morgan -- I sympathize with the sweet tooth thing. I went crazy when I discovered gluten free ginger bread cookies. Carla -- Sorry to hear you got sick on your trip. It's hard to enjoy yorself when you're not feeling well! I have to clarify that is is not OUR restort in that we don't own it. We call it that since it was so small and...
  4. Okay...finally got an avatar loaded. This is My wife Bobbi and I at our resort on the Mayan Riveria January 2006. Hope it turns out okay.
  5. Patti and Andrea -- Thanks so much. I am thrilled, and it will be Colorado Springs in about 2 years (Afetr I get back from Greenland). My wife is thrilled as I finally got into the branch I wanted, butnot so thrilled about the year apart thing. THis is just a driveby response, as I haver to run and get some laundry done, and put DD to bed forher...
  6. It IS addictive. Just so you all know, I got the news yesterday that I am going to GREENLAND next summer. I will be there for about a year, leaving the wife and kids behind here in Saskatchewan. They inform me that my diet is not a problem (which makes me VERY happy). I don't have much in the way of final details right now, but will post them as I...
  7. Rachel -- Sorry to hear about the "ogre in a lab coat". It's never fun when the lab people seem to think they rule the world. I had one hear screw up my daughters patch chloride testing (3 hours of our lives we will never get back) I agree that you need to talk to her supervisor and get some things sorted out. Maybe, she was just having a bad day, maybe...
  8. Karen, Sorry to hear about the tests. I hope you are feeling better soon. Things always have to turn around at some point. My prayers are with you. Well, sorry for the drive by posting, but work is very hectic today, and I am feeling like garbage. I do not wait very well, and I have been waiting for news of Greenland forever! Sometimes...
  9. Our daughter is also NUTS about pink or purple. I havbe a request for some warm wishes/prayers. I am waiting to hear on a HUGE posting (the Greenland thing) by the end of the week. I really want this, even though it will be hard away from the family. However, it is great for my job. I'll keep you all updated.
  10. Lisa -- Of course we'll listen. That's why we're here. I hope you have a better day. I am glad you felt you could rant here. We all need to ven once in a while. Well, of to take DD to daycare. Back soon.
  11. I think you're on the right track with the books! It can be tricky with kids, explaining things that seem over their head. I find just being striaght up sometimes helps as well. Kids are sometimes a lot smarter than we give them credit for. Try just being as direct as possible...she may surprise you.
  12. My wife was also very sick (hospitalized) with our daughter. The Dr thought twins, which made us excited, but we only had the one. The ironic thing, now that I think about it, was that we named her Tasmin (Gaelic for Twin). We did not look at the meanings when we picked it though. We found out that sometimes Hyperemesis (very much up-chucking) can be...
  13. Whew...found you all. So is there the R_Ville science forum and then the general gab now? It's nice to see we all made it through, and I would also like to vote for the no spelling thing. I took some ribbing at the spelling in my signature block a while ago, and, although no very professional, live and die by the little red line on my screen when I...
  14. I have read in other threads here, and experienced this myself. Some of us do go through "withdrawl" syptoms when we went off gluten. This is due to the antibodies to the gliading etc being elevated. When your body is used to being on high alert for so long, it takes a while to reset itself, and can feel/act/appear exactly like withdrawl. You and...
  15. I will also keep an eye out in my local beer store!! YEAH!!!
  16. I know I have been helped here in R-Ville and I Thank you all for your support. There have been a TONNE of posts here in the last week or so, but I thought that was normal. Susan -- It would be a shame to lose your insight. Please stay. All -- I find humour to be healing, and I think that has been the best blessing here. I LOVE the community wee have...
  17. Nikki -- I hear in the UK now they can't even take electornices (MP3 players etc) on the aircraft now. They are thinking about instituting the same policy here in Canada as well. What are we supposed to do on international flights now? Can't even bring our own drinks etc anymore. Hope all of you who are planning to travel are safe, and there are not...
  18. Drive by here too unfortunately....but I WILL be back this afternoon. I am amazed at how our littel communtity has grown Morgan -- Welcome to our little family. Cecile -- LOVE the new hairdo But I agree....where did the square wheels go? Does that mean I have to retire my spots? Vincent -- How are the ASL classes going? I tried to take...
  19. Okay...somehow I go away for a day and am 20 pages behind.... Dave, welcome...we needed more guys here. As for the french, I am glad the Canadian Gov't makes us learn it to enter public service. (hence the job here in R-Ville) Just wanted to check in. Have to get ready to go to work and take DD to day care. Will try to chat later. Talk to you...
  20. Premature post....still 5 pages to read. Susan -- No it was not flippant. As far as the Canadian Forces is concerned, there is no way to get what I want without going to Greenland or Norther Northern Alaska for a year by myself first. They are such small remote places there is no room for families. Even for the Americans and Danes in Greenland. Everyone...
  21. It said language teacher...not english teacher. I live and die by the little red line in word processors. Thanks Vincent. That's been there since I changed my signature and nobody ever said anything. LOL
  22. Ok..this is going to be all over the place... Lisa -- I don't know if it can hurt at all to meet this guy. If you are happily marrried, and you hubby is willing to come with you, then it should be okay. You walked away once when he came on too strong. I tried to go back and see someone that I thought I was still in love with, and things were so different...
  23. Almost all soft drinks (with the exception of Root Beer) are gluten fere.
  24. At least the dingos won't get bored Susan -- I hope you find some relief from your week in the climbing. Sometimes just getting away for a day can do wonders for someones mood. Thanks to all who responded to my little work dilema. Although I would have to say that ATC is not the most stressful job there is. It can be where I am as I am at a...
  25. Glad to see our pres. is okay. It certainly was a good search though. I am glda to see how much we all look out for each other here. IT makes me feel quite welcome. Andrea -- I am impressed at what you are undertaking. God bless! It's not easy these days to impart some of our values etc to our children. My mother for example has scared my son off...
