  1. Well, I am back, but now have 50 odd pages of unread posts to wade through. It's good to be home.
  2. Sansy, that's great news!!! Hope the camping goes well. Well folks, I'm going to be rather inactive for the next month or so. I am off on a course that I need for my career advancement, and will be limited in my internet use for a while. I want to wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving, and to wish you all the warmest start to your HUGE holiday...
  3. No one has ever suffered from going lguten free. I agree. You could get the blood test done, and see where that gets you, but in the mean time, you could trial the gluten free diet and see what happens. All the other memebrs of my household (those old enough to speak) tell me that they notice less gassy and bloated when they follow my diet with me for...
  4. There are inhalers that can be used as maintenance meds as well. Symbicort etc. You take them every day, and then use your ventolin as a resuce inhaler. Your doctor may have some samplers if they decide this could be helpful. Otherwise, if you can take it, you can use Singulair (pill). DS has asthma, and this is what we have noticed. The cold air...
  5. DW and I had to convince the doc to do a blood test. WHen the results came back, I had lost almost 40 lbs, and was dropping weight like it was going out of style. I was not "sick" but was not "healthy" either. I had a variety of symptoms, and they were getting so bad I was having PVCs (heart palpatations) just before my dx. Now though, WAY better...
  6. Welcome Hawkfire, and the advice you got about either Rachelville thread is NEVER go back. We will have to send out the dingos to find you. Hello all. I have been lurking and struggling to keep up to all the new scientificness. I am beginning to see that there is more to any of this than I relalized back when I got my celiac dx. I hope we all...
  7. Rachel -- I don't know if this has ben suggested yet, but DW says that a good massage can help with lymphatic drainage. She recommends finding a good massage therapist in your area and asking some questions. Your Lymph system, as part of your immune system needs help from time to time ( as we here in Rachelville are well aware of). There has been a tonne...
  8. I'm 2 episodes behind right now, but fell in love with the first episode. Thank goodness for a VCR. I will have to sit down and watch them this weekend. I wonder how long it will take the cheerleader to realize her dad is going to kill her?
  9. Wow....lots to catch up on. Glad to read all the updates and find everyone is better. I've been off for a few days fending of some NASTY Gastro virus here in our house. Our son was out of commission for 6 days, and now our hospital public health oficer says our town has had a small outbreak of Norwalk virus. Hope the baby does not get it. Anyway...
  10. There is also a recipe for corn bread stuffing on the Wild Oats website somewhere.
  11. I just saw yesterday on the Wild Oats website that they have a recipe for gluten free corn bread turkey stuffing. It was a little too late for me (as we had thanksgiving already here in Canada) but maybe you could try it and let us know how it turns out. Aside from that, I have to agree with eveyone else. Cornstartch for the gravy etc. Happy Thanksgiving...
  12. Glad to hear you had such a good time Stephanie. I am planning a trip there in the next year or so. I am impressed they make it so easy to get along there.

Any of the major chains will be easy for youto find something. Earls, Moxie's etc. I only have to mention to the servers that I have an issue with gluten, and they are bending over backwards to help. I hope your trip goes well.
  14. I LOVE these things. They have a ton of flavours. I get almost all of them every time I go to the health food store here. The granoloa or Museli ones are my favourite though.
  15. We are having a HUGE turkey dinner with some friends (about a dozen people invited), and before we eat, we all share some thigns we are thankful for from the past year. I think it is pretty much the same as in the ststes no? This is my first gluten-free thanksgiving,so it should be interesting since the neighbors are making the turkey and stuffing....
  16. My mom said Cheerios (or in this case Perky-o's) may work for boys so they can use them for "target practice". Make a game of it. Also, she swore by a book called "Potty Training in Less Than a Day". I do not remember the author, but I have seen it at almost every book store in the baby/toddler sections. We are going through the same thing with our...
  17. If I may interject from a dad's point of view-- When my wife was pregnant with our daughter, she was naseous for almost the first month, and then we were VERY worried when it just went away. We found that some plain toast in the morning before her feet even hit the floor helped the most, or some weak ginger tea. Congrats. I think you'll fins the...
  18. Dave -- Welcome back. Always good to hear from you. Wow, lots happening here overnight. Welcome to all the newcomers. I hope you feel at home and find some of the answers you seek. There ALWAYS seems to be someone around with a proverbial pot of coffee on to chat and help us work through all our stresses. Just wanted to say hi and wish everyone...
  19. It possible that she could have an upset stomach. Either from Celiac or some other source. My DD is a little over 2, and she goes through a few days here and there where she does not eat. Other possible reasons could be -- teething, ear ache etc. Does she have a fever? How long has this been going on? I would suggest that if she is not eating "normally...
  20. I also want to add that I feel somewhat connected to all of you here, and will offer what support I can. You've all been supportive to me as I am relatively new to the Celiac thing. I wouldn't've been able to cope with a LOT of this with out Rachelville (both threads) Thanks again. Rach -- I hope you know one way or the other soon enough what you...
  21. OMG!!!! Thankfully, they have this procedure where men do not have to end up like the pets.
  22. Lisa, It's normal to remember our loved ones and the loss incurred. In time, this day will get easier, but the memories will always be there. (hugs) I am sorry for your loss, and hope youfind comfort today.
  23. I guess all things do happen for a reason eh?
  24. Rachel -- I know I have the same moodieness problem, and I don't think it's hormonal. It is more pronounced since my dx, but it is getting bad. ie. Last night I got mad at DW for FLIPPING THE PAGES ON THE NEWSPAPAER TOO LOUD!! Sounds silly, and NEVER would I get mad at her for anything, but the paper think was driving me CRAZY!! Anyway, I read...
  25. For the effects of poisiong from the ex to begin to show themselves, you would have had to have been rebellious for a longtime. (Due to the fact it would take time to build up in your system) I hope that sentence made sense, because it was hard to type (stupid verb tenses)!
