  1. Guys do not start out looking for friendships with women. I'm sorry but it's true. I have to agree with Vincent here. We are always interested, and that's that. Once we're married though, the rules change, and we are more able to be friends w/o wanting it to be more. I also have to agree with everyone else that it's pretty obvious that someone has...
  2. I'm not sure about the machine thing either, but I think it has something to do with the fact that it's a cold set cheesecake (no bake) and they may use the machine like a press or mold or something.
  3. SO recently, my family and I went to Calgary to visit my folks. THis involved educationg my mother about what to cook, but they also like to go out to eat (which is fine by me) We went to one Ricky's (the one in the south by the new IKEA) and when I tild the server about my celiac, she actually brought me the ingredient lists for all the salad dressings...
  4. Christine, I have to echo what has been said so far. I think your boyfriend needs to wake up. PLEASE do not let him pressure you into anything. HE says he is scared. When I found out my wife was pregnant, I was also scared, and we planned it. There is a lot of emotion involved when you get news like that. He MAY be confusing scared for something...
  5. Well, I'm back, and none the worse for wear. I managed to "eduacte"my mother and not get sick. When I have some time, I will post my whole dining experience in Calagry area establishments in another thread. It will be quite lengthy, and I have to get ready for work. Glad to see everyone is well.
  6. Wow...lots to catch up on. Back from my weekend trip and glad to report I was not glutened. Hope everyone is feeling better over the next little while. I know I was feeling lousy before I left, and now everyone else in this house seems to have a touch of something. TAlk to you all soon
  7. Wow...been quiet around gere lately. Well, I'm off for the weekend. Talk to you all on my return. I should be looking forward to this trip to see my folks...the last run to see them before I go to Greenland next spring, but I just have a horrible feeling like my mother is going to "gluten" me. She's supportive to a point, but I don't think she truly...
  8. I had a TOn of PVCs before my dx. My doctor told me they were not related, but I seem to think they were. Anyway, they are not dangerous, and do not mean there is anything wrong. I found out that most people have them all the time, but only some of us can actually feel them I guess that just means we are even MROE special
  9. Andrea, it's possible it was cc. I have been careful, but also, I've been trying to cook for the kids (both gluten eaters) so I may have not been careful enough.
  10. you can also try glutenfreemall.com
  11. I was hungry ALL THE TIME, and losing weight like it was going out of style. That's what triggered the DR to look for celiac. It seems to have passed now that I am gluten-free though. I don't feel hungry quite so often.
  12. Well, it's been a while but I'm just checking in. I've been kind of sick myself, and thinking maybe that this whole Gluten free thing is not as easy as I thought. Rachel -- I hope you find some answers soon. I hate being in the dark when I am sick. I don't know why you would hold back on doing research though. The more info you have going in, the...
  13. I seem to recall there was a discussion a while back about fingernail lines as well. Hair and fingernails can be tested to give an indication of heavy metals in the body. (CSI does come in handy I guess) might be something to look into.
  14. I would highly recommend any of the "Gluten Free Gourmet" books. She has several that deal specifically with baking breds and desserts. She also offers up some suggestions on flour mixes you can make and store to use in those recepies.
  15. Who knew shoes coudl take up so many posts. To continue though, there was a piece on the national news here last night about the factory where the crocs are made, and it was AMAZING! And no wastage of material due to the manufacturing process. Comfy AND bio-friendly!
  16. WOW!! So If I read this correctly, your dentist is a total twit! I hope you find the answers you're looking for Rachel. It sounds like you may have a long road ahead.
  17. Julie, they are not plastic..the feel more like a NERF ball or something, and they are the most comfortable thing I have ever had on my feet. They LOOK plastic, but they are not. Wierd. Rachel -- I've seen them in EVERY colour imaginable.
  18. Crocs are AWESOME! They are anit-bacterial, so if you have sweaty feet, they don't stink. Plus, you can just wash them off in the sink when they get dirty, because they are anti slip. Everyone in our while house has a pair.
  19. Thank you all for the wonderful advice. I will be able to be home twice. The Canadian Forces will fly me home once, and they are paying for a nice Carribean vacation for the whole family while I'm gone as well. So in reality, I'll only be gone for 4 months or so at a time. It will be tough, but we both knew this was a possibility, what with me being...
  20. Well, enough skulking thorugh the R-Ville back alleys for the last few days. Sorry I havenot spoken up much, I've been here, just not felt very well and did not feel like talking much. Carrie -- Welcome to Rachelville, and yes you do make a beautiful Bride. I've been to PEI and I agree that the fall is the best time to go. That whole province...
  21. AS far as I know, maltodextrin is made from corn, so it should be okay.
  22. I lost a ton of weight before my dx as well. It's been 5 moths gluten free and I have maybe gained back a pound or tow. I have to agree with everyone and say that when the healing is done, the weight will come back. My wife wishes she could trade places with me so she could lose a few pounds, which I dont think she needs to lose BTW, but she does not...
  23. 1. FIRST NAME? Ryan 2. WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE? Nope 3. WHEN DID YOU LAST CRY? It's been a while 4. DO YOU LIKE YOUR HANDWRITING? No 5. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LUNCH MEAT? Leftovers 6. KIDS? One of each 7. IF YOU WERE ANOTHER PERSON WOULD YOU BE FRIENDS WITH YOU? Yes 8. DO YOU HAVE A JOURNAL? No 9. DO YOU USE SARCASM A LOT? Every...
  24. I am only now (4 months in) gaining back SMALL amounts of weight. I lost almost 40 lbs before my dx. It may take more time, and I am usually patient. I guess we'll see. I hope you begin to gain some back and feel better.
  25. Good morning Racelville. Hope everyone is well this morning. Carla -- I'm sure Morgan will miss you all just as much as you are missing her. Penguin -- LOVE the new avatar. It's the cutest bird/cat I've ever seen!! Off to work. Talk to you all soon.
