  1. Here's what they say at their own web site: "Gluten Free Are McCann's Oat products gluten free? All McCann
  2. Kraft and Kroger American cheese are gluten-free. Fruity Pebbles technically is gluten-free, but I would worry about cross contamination. There really is no controversy about oats in the U.S. -- all U.S. oats are contaminated and are not to be considered gluten-free. Every expert I know of agrees on this. richard
  3. Here's froma medical web site. I just did a google search for "bacterial overgrowth +diagnosing" and got lots. "Identifying the cause of small bowel bacterial overgrowth, and even diagnosing it as the cause of the patient
  4. I would consider the possibility of bacterial overgrowth, which can give you cleiac-type symptoms. Recent research showed that a large percentage of people who go gluten-free and still have symptoms also have bacterial overgrowth. You can ask your doctor about it but I would just start taking a probiotic like Culturelle. It won't hurt you and it might solve...
  5. That doesn't sound like celiac disease-related mouth sores. Mine were more like cold sores or cracked areas at the corners of my lips on the outside. Totally disappeared after going gluten-free. richard
  6. I just clicked and it worked. Do you have Acrobat Reader, which you need to dowload the list? If not you can get it free at the Acrobat web site. richard
  7. I have never seen a butter with gluten and I don't think I've ever seen a magarine either. If it's real butter you can relax. Same with every major brand magarine I've checked.
  8. For those of you planning to go to Disneyworld -- it is absolutely the best gluten-free-friendly place I've ever been. At every place we ate the head chef came out and talked to me, including at the character breakfast. Every time we ate at a buffet the chef offered to bring fresh food from the back to avoid contamination. At the character breakfast I had...
  9. I notice somebody on this thread mentioned eating Honey Comb, Alpha-Bits and Corn Pops. Bad idea. None are gluten-free. As for Kraft dressings -- you don't need any list at all for Kraft. For well over a year now Kraft has had a poilicy of clearly listing any gluten. If something is made wheat, rye or barley, it will say so. ALL Lipton is gluten-free...
  10. If your doctor didn't sedate you and then give you something like Versed to keep you from remembering the procudeure then I'd find another doctor. I don't remember the first thing about either one of my procedures. richard
  11. I got you beat, I gained 50, although I've now lost 30 of that. I don't eat those incredibly fattening (and expensive) gluten-free breads and treats. I started watching my portions and realized I was still eating huge amounts of food just like I did before going gluten-free. Except now I'm absorbing all those calories and fat that I wasn't absorbing before...
  12. Is there something in Tylenol and Advil that you can't have? Both are gluten-free. I also take Anacin and Kroger aspirin. richard
  13. Dr. Fine is at odds with other well-known experts on this point.
  14. I think you're OK making sandwiches as long as you thoroughly wash before you handle anything you might eat or before you put your hands near your mouth. Inhaling gluten wouldn't be a problem unless there's flour flying around. richard
  15. Your 9-month-old is too young to be tested accurately. Your daughter should be tested immediately. Personally I'd go the conventional route starting with a FULL celiac panel. Iga, total Iga, Igg, and Ttg. To my mind, the gene test is only moderately useful. If you don't have the genes then you know you don't have and can't get celiac disease. But if you...
  16. If he's actually going into anaphylactic shock that sounds like an allergy of some sort, not just celiac. richard
  17. I grate my own parmesean (much better taste) but Kraft and Kroger are definitely gluten-free. richard
  18. The story about this on NPR this morning said that research would continue, possibly for an wheat that people with gluten intolerance could eat or for a low carb version. Go researchers!!
  19. I amended my post. I meant to say artificial colors instead of flavors.
  20. I actually don't know of any artificial colors that aren't gluten-free. Natural and artificial flavors are almost all gluten-free, but I don't eat foods with them without checking. richard
  21. Those are all symptoms of celiac and the skin thing could possibly be DH (and if you have DH you do or will have celiac), but of course we can't diagnose you. You can go back to a dermatologist and ask him if your skin problem could possibly be DH. You can also go to your doctor, describe your symptoms, and ask for the blood tests for celiac. Not sure...
  22. A recent study showed that 2/3 of people studied who were still having problems after being gluten-free for months also had bacterial overgrowth. Probiotics takes care of this. Some doctors recommend it for all people who have just been diagnosed -- just in case. cheers richard, roanoke, va.
  23. The problem with companies that tell you they do test for gluten (very, very few actually do this and I don't think any of the big mainstream companies do) is that it's impossible to test for zero gluten content. So a "100 percent" guarantee by anybody really means nothing at all. The companies that tell you the product is not formulated to have gluten...
  24. Hydrolized vegetable oil is gluten-free (although not necessarily very healthy). Hydrolized vegetable protein is indeed a red flag ingredient but it does not always have gluten. In fact, it usually doesn't have gluten. richard

    ARCHIVED Fast Food

McDonald's bacon most definitely is NOT gluten-free. If you go to the site where they list all ingredients, both the bacon AND the bacon bits have wheat protein. Only the second bacon I've ever seen that has gluten. richard
