  1. Thanks. She has reacted to small amounts so I guess I'll stick with the Whole Foods brand.
  2. I have noticed some chocolate chips have milk fat not milk or milk solids. Are these ok? It seems like they should be, but I can't help but wonder if they really get all of the milk protein out. So far I haven't been willing to risk it since my daughter's reaction to casein is so extreme. Does anyone else eat this? I've been buying Whole Foods chocolate...
  3. I used it for my daughter because I suspected her tummy aches were from gluten but the regular blood tests at the doctor were negative. She was tested several times from the time she was 1 until she was 8. My grandmother had celiac and I had read the blood tests were not reliable. My daughter said she felt better gluten-free but the doctors said she didn...
  4. My daughter's pedi GI's nurse also said she didn't think the gluten free diet was necessary for my daughter. Her blood tests were always negative. She didn't mention Enterolab by name but she said that there was an internet lab out there doing stool tests which they thought were inaccurate. She thinks it is unneccessary even though my daughter has always...
  5. I used Enterolab because my 8 year old daughter had constant tummy aches. Beginning when I introduced wheat, she had mild diarreah which eventually went away. My grandmother had biopsy-proven celiac so I was aware of it and had her blood tested by several doctors over the years. They were always negative. She said she felt better eating gluten free but...
  6. I don't have the answer but have been wondering this myself. Their fish is in the bathroom and it has been bothering me that the fish food is so close to their toothbrushes. I know we need to move the fish but I would feel even better with a gluten-free fish food.
  7. I used Enterolab and found my GI doctor through them. When I went to him, he suggested the genetic testing. He wanted to use Prometheus but was all right with using Enterolab. According to his staff, the Prometheus testing may or may not be covered by insurance and would be $300 - $400. They also said that Enterolab's test showed the different subtypes...
  8. Thanks, Judy.
  9. I have this, too. I just had my gallbladder removed in May and I still have the same pain. I know there isn't a gallstone still there because they looked at the time of surgery. My GI doctor has ordered a gastric emptying study and did some blood tests but I haven't heard the results yet. I don't really think it is a gastric emptying problem from what...
  10. My children and I were diagnosed by Enterolab after one child repeatedly tested negative by the regular doctors. I felt the need to see a doctor for myself just so I wasn't "being my own doctor". I figured I would use what he said for my children. He only sees adults or I would have taken them, too. I went to a doctor who uses Enterolab because I thought...
  11. I don't know if celiac causes reflux but that was my daughter's first diagnosis. She was taking prescription meds for it but stopped when the one she was using wasn't covered by insurance any more. She was not gluten free at the time. Now she is and hasn't needed it.
  12. Thanks for posting this. One of my daughters is a gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian. I'm always looking for easy recipes for her. Sorry, I can't help you with the bread.
  13. My daughter was tested for the first time when she was about 1 year old with the blood and stool tests at the pedi GI's office. It was negative. When she was older, she complained about her tummy hurting, so she was tested again several times. The last time was when she was 7. All negative. Finally, when she was 8, I tested her with Enterolab and it...
  14. I didn't have any symptoms when I was diagnosed either. I found out when my daughter tested positive so I tested myself. Now I do have symptoms when I eat gluten. I have never knowingly eaten any but I have had stomach issues recently which I think are due to trace amounts of gluten. That is the bad news. The good news is that I discovered that gluten...
  15. Here's a list. Open Original Shared Link Tylenol PM is gluten-free. The vanilla is not on this list
  16. For some reason, I can't get it to link but the website is www.enterlab.com I did just the stool test for gluten sensitivity at first for $119. There is a celiac panel which is more testing and obviously more expensive. Since then I've done the casein test for $99 and the gene test for $169.
  17. I read on this board somewhere that barley malt is listed under natural flavors by Pinnacle Foods in some syrups. I have e-mailed them to get an update. I'll post it when I get it.
  18. I discovered I was gluten intolerant because of my younger daughter. She was always complaining about her tummy hurting. The doctors could never find anything wrong with her and dismissed it as anxiety. She was tested for celiac disease with the blood tests and it was negative. We tested her with Enterolab and it was positive. Then I tested myself and...
  19. Thank you for letting us know. I had just discovered chocolate martinis before going gluten-free and thought I couldn't have them any more. I'm going to Whole Foods today.
  20. I don't have any real experience with ADHD but my younger daughter was tested for ADHD after a therapist, a psychiatrist, and I noticed hyperactive, impulsive, distractible behaviour. She didn't get any complaints from the school like a lot of ADHD kids but one teacher did say she had to repeat things to her. Her results from the neuropsych testing said...
  21. Somehow I just saw this now. And I thought I was reading here constantly! I hope it turns out. Enjoy the party.
  22. I don't have a recipe but I wanted to offer some help. We just made the yellow cake from Cause Your Special cake mixes and liked it. You can order them online. It is gluten/dairy free. I used coconut oil instead of butter and either rice or soy milk instead of milk. I did use real eggs but it says you can use an egg replacement. I used a package frosting...
  23. If you do decide to do the Enterolab testing, you can stop or cut back on gluten before the test. It will detect gluten intolerance for a while after you stop eating it. For months after, I think, but you would need to check with them to be sure. My daughter had been gluten lite for at least 6 months and she was still positive. She would eat a cookie...
  24. It sounds like it could be celiac or at least gluten intolerance to me. You could have your doctor test you for it, do Enterolab testing, or just try a gluten free diet and see what happens. For some people, it is important to have an official diagnosis. I personally like not having it on my insurance and know I can follow the diet strictly without the...
  25. I think there are many people here who had negative bloodwork and then positive results from Enterolab. Enterolab is able to detect it before it gets into the blood. My daughter had negative blood test results several times over the years and positive Enterolab results.
