  1. My 2 daughters and I used Enterolab. One of my daughters had been tested multiple times over 7 years by the blood tests and they were negative. We have a family history of celiac disease so I was unconvinced. When I found out about Enterolab, I had her tested and it was positive. I believe it is accurate. My other daughter and I were also positive and...
  2. My children have responded to the diet. One of them has had negative bloodwork in the past and one has never done the blood tests. We are not going to do the biopsy because, like you said, why put them through that when we know what to do. In our case, a negative biopsy wouldn't change anything.
  3. I am in the same situation. My younger daughter has seen a Pedi GI who ran the blood tests and they were negative. The GI's next step would be to do the endoscope and look for other causes and maybe celiac, I'm not sure about that part. Since then, we have done the Enterolab test (positive) and done the gluten-free diet. Now my daughter is better. I...
  4. I agree with Ursula. If you can, test your daughter with Enterolab. My 8 year old daughter showed mild symptoms from the time she started eating wheat. We have a family history of celiac, so she was tested multiple times over the years with the blood tests. They were all negative. Including my brother and sisters, and their children, 9 people in...
  5. I agree that the blood tests don't always show it. One of my daughters was tested 3 or 4 times by the time she was 8 and they were all negative. She continued to complain about her tummy and felt better being gluten free. I finally found Enterolab and she was positive.
  6. I was diagnosed after my youngest daughter. I would have said I didn't have symtoms but my whole life has improved. I have more energy and focus. I have been able to quit taking antidepressants. I am less irritable even without the a/d. I know now those are symptoms of gluten intolerance. My older daughter was diagnosed after me. She was sure she...
  7. You can definitely have at least a gluten intolerance and C. I had that for years but never connected it to celiac disease. Neither of my daughters had D.
  8. I have tested myself and 2 daughters for gluten intolerance with Enterolab. One daughter was also tested for casein intolerance and I've now ordered the casein intolerance test for the other daughter and myself. I didn't have any symptoms for gluten intolerance but after getting the test results, I can say it has made a big difference to me in the way...
  9. My 10 year old daughter is 2 1/2 months gluten-free. She is a picky eater anyway but does love meat and rice. She will eat the Tinkyada pasta. She went to a celiac camp and ate a pizza on Chebe pizza crust that she liked. We haven't tried it at home, yet. She is also CF so hers would have been one of those. Chick Fil A french fries are gluten-free....
  10. I was also very pleased with them. I tested myself and 2 daughters and I believe the results were accurate for us. Only one daughter had symptoms of celiac before, but it never showed up on the blood tests. All of us feel much better on the gluten-free diet. Counting my brother and sisters and their kids, 9 of us have tested and 9 of us have been positive...
  11. I am another one who is very pro Enterolabs. My youngest daughter was tested several times over the years by blood tests and was always negative. My grandmother had gold standard biopsied celiac so I was never convinced that my daughter didn't have it. She also responded well to the the gluten-free diet. When I read on this board about Enterolab, I decided...
  12. I couldn't find it when I just looked at their site but I googled "fla vor ice gluten" and that page on their website came up.
  13. My 2 daughters and I are all gluten intolerant. One daughter, 8, had tummy issues which led to the testing (by Enterolab). Since hers was positive, I tested myself and my other daughter, 10. We were both also positive. My older daughter and I both feel alot better emotionally even though I didn't think we had any symptoms. I don't have any trouble getting...
  14. I have had the opposite effect. I used to crave my coffee in the mornings and now for some reason, I can't even stand the idea. The only explanation I can come up with is that my flavored coffee had gluten in it.
  15. I thought these were ok but I looked again after reading your post and it says: The following Jel Sert products do not contain Wheat or Corn Gluten: Mondo Fruit Squeezers Fla-Vor-Ice Freezer Bars Fla-Vor-Ice Lite Freezer Bars Fla-Vor-Plus Freezer Bars Pop Ice Freezer Bars Otter Pops Freezer Bars Otter Pops Plus Freezer Bars Keebler Fudge...
  16. I don't have a lot of experience with this but my 8 year old daughter is gluten-free, trialing CF, and is a vegetarian. By eliminating the dairy, she is almost a vegan. I am trying to find other protein sources for her without relying so much on soy because apparently lots of celiacs also have trouble with soy. When we eat out, she eats a baked potato...
  17. I don't know of a doctor in Iowa, but I e-mailed Enterolab and asked them for a doctor in my area.
  18. I am fairly new to this also, but I would assume she had something with gluten. I am also gluten-free so it is making me more aware of how little gluten is needed to cause a reaction. When it was just my daughter who was gluten-free, I never really thought about trace amounts or cc. One of my daughter's tummy hurts when she eats gluten. Then she...
  19. I agree that if you can afford it, Enterolab is the way to go. My younger daughter was a suspected (by me only) of being a celiac by 1 year old, but all of the blood tests were negative. She's been tested 3 or 4 more times and all were negative. She's now 8 and I recently had her tested by Enterolab and it was positive. If you don't want to do Enterolab...
  20. I haven't needed a note yet for any reason but I am thinking I would just show a copy of the results from Enterolab. It says " it is recommended that you follow a strict and permanent gluten free diet." Is there any reason that wouldn't work? Dr. Fine might be willing to send you a signed letter instead of that e-mail. I am new to this so maybe I am...
  21. I have 2 daughters with gluten intolerance. My younger daughter reacted to wheat as a baby with D. She was tested with the blood test and was negative for celiac. I kept her off from wheat for a while and eventually she didn't have the D any more. She complained about her tummy hurting, though, so she was tested every few years for celiac with the blood...
  22. I wanted to add I am not a doctor and what I posted is just my understanding after reading a lot on the intenet about children and behaviour problems.
  23. I don't know how long it takes to recover from gluten. But I wanted to answer other parts of your post. First of all, bipolar doesn't show up on a brain scan or mri or anything like that. It is usually diagnosed by symptoms and then trial and error of medicines. My depression went away totally after getting off gluten, so I would be hopeful that after...
  24. I was concerned about this so I e-mailed Enterolab to see if they could recommend a doctor in my area. There is a doctor here in Austin who uses their lab so I made an appointment with him. Interestingly, I hear from someone who knows this doctor that his wife has celiac. I also asked them about a pedi GI and there is a doctor who has used them in...
  25. My fingers are thinner. I always thought I had "fat" fingers but I guess it was just swelling. I used to have dandruff and that went away.
