  1. Open Original Shared Link I am definitely one of those who does not think everyone should be scoped, I think there are risks and I choose not to take them. I am confused though, did the doctor see the tape worm when he did the endoscopy? Thanks for posting this.
  2. All of your symptoms could be related to celiac, they could be something else too but some of them I have had and they have gone away on a gluten free diet. I could add a couple more, migraine headaches and boils, also gone. I hope your tests provide you with some clarity. It may be that you are not celiac but intolerant to gluten, in my opinion...
  3. Thanks, I laughed out loud when I read that. When I was first ill and melting, losing a half pound or pound a day, and needing to lose some weight I admit to a simultaneous knowledge that something was very wrong and that wow (happy, happy) I was getting to wear jeans again. I think in the beginning it is very important to be very careful, this...
  4. I think you may be onto something with the casein, I would think that if it is going to help then seven days should at least give you an inkling of whether you are on the right track. There are a percentage of celiacs who just don't heal on going gluten free, you are not alone. Some of us have problems with all carbs including rice. I think olive...
  5. Hi. Good for you for doing the research! I am thinking a "mild' case may mean the damage to your villi may be minimal but being mildly celiac is like being mildly pregnant.
  6. Fresh greens, yum. I love beet greens with garlic. I wonder if it could be sulfites causing the dry mouth, grapes do get sprayed quite a lot with them I think. I'm a water person myself, other than tea or coffee. I've never gotten into juice or pop.
  7. I'll cross my fingers for you too. I was 51 but I've had digestion/C issues for 35 years and although I didn't go to doctors often I did see them. My secondary symptoms were migraines, then boils, anxiety attacks and then ultimately, at 49 years old, after a tick bite resulted in pain traveling around my body for two years my digestion collapsed/exploded...
  8. I am wondering what your iodine levels are? Have you had your vitamin and mineral levels checked?
  9. Some doctors are fine with the blood test and diet as diagnostic tools, perhaps there is even someone on this board that knows of someone in your area. As for their "gold standard". Trust yourself.
  10. I'm sorry you are still feeling so badly, I think the suggestion to go to a very basic diet and then add things back in is a very good one.
  11. And Happy Birthday!
  12. I feel just the same way, except it is towards you. It's okay, time will tell the story. I look around me and those who have chosen to trust the system and take the pills don't look so healthy to me, I suspect they won't live that long. I think eventually people will realize their responsibility and change their ways, already some are (many of...
  13. I agree with you, I would add that there are many other tools that may be of more benefit than conventional medicine. As for my sister, I agree with you in that each of us must take real responsibility for our health and she did not. However, her doctor who had diagnosed her with IBS ( hello celiac when you don't have enough damage to tell it is celiac...
  14. Other than when I was too young to have a choice I have avoided doctors, I have always seen my health as my responsibility. I once saw doctors as useful for diagnosis but not for treatment but after going through what I have I no longer consider them useful for diagnosis, I have little reason to go to them. I intend to live until I die and if that means...
  15. I hope this helps, please let me know. You could always start with less than a teaspoon and work up to it, the book I have says some do better with food in their stomachs and some without. We are unique and finding our way through this, I have found, requires patience.
  16. Ali, I think I know the ginger you are talking about and fresh ginger doesn't taste like that but if heat bothers you then ginger has heat. You could try cutting a couple of slices of fresh ginger (about the size of a quarter, whoops what does a quarter look like over there? ) in a cup of water and simmering it for five minutes or so, I like it like...

  18. I hope you feel better soon, stupid restaurant. I am reading a great book on ginger called, "Ginger Common Spice and Wonder Drug by Paul Schulick, from that book:
  19. I appreciate that doctor being so forthright, I wish I had encountered doctors so willing to be open minded about the limitations of their practice instead I was too often met with arrogance and ignorance. I recall seeing a doctor many years ago, I had a number of questions and since she was leaving the province, I asked her to recommend a doctor, she...
  20. Me too. My house, my rules. My husband eats gluten elsewhere, my kitchen is gluten free and it is the only way I would have it. As for visitors staying, our house is very tiny and I find one night is my limit. I am impressed that you can have guests for a month. I am thinking your house must be big.
  21. Ginger is very high in digestive enzymes. I grate it finely and then squeeze it to get the juice out, about a teaspoon, and then I add that to water and drink it. It is also very good for nausea.
  22. Thanks for the link. That is precisely how I feel but I feel that way about big pharma's propaganda.
  23. Hi kanne. That is wonderful that the SCD is working for you, I love good news. As far as gelatin and chicken soup cooked for a long time I wonder if it may be a glutamate reaction. Glutamates are increased by long cooking of proteins, as I understand it and my understanding is limited, and they can be problematic for some. MSG is a man made...
  24. Speaking of the flu vaccine, my massage therapist told me today a client came in who had lost all of her hair, she said that it fell out within a week of receiving the flu vaccine. I have never heard of such a thing, has anyone else?
  25. Happy Birthday.
