ARCHIVED I Found My Diagnosis Not My Doctor, And It Bothers Him.
rinne replied to I hate gluten's topic in Doctors
I called my doctor and left a message, I said: 1) I was correct about my diagnosis. 2) You are danger to your patients. 3) I am grateful I am smarter than you. I felt much better. I didn't even care if she got the message. -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
rinne replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hi nmr. I ate almond butter by the spoonful and that seemed to help and how about coconut oil? It is a healthy fat, good for candida (I've heard) and I've taken equal amounts of the two and mashed them together, yum. -
Hi Angie, sorry to hear you are still struggling after a year. I know how it feels. I was strictly gluten and dairy free (well almost dairy free but every few months I would try to reintroduce it) for two and a half years and still didn't feel better. I think it is about 20% of celiacs who just don't seem to get better by going gluten free. What...

ARCHIVED New Here - Sad And Overwhelmed
rinne replied to foodiegurl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi. It is overwhelming in the beginning and it takes time to learn the gluten free diet but you will get there. The Omeprazole stops absorption of Vitamin B, if you haven't had your vitamin and mineral panel checked, deficiencies are common, it would be a good idea. I was so ill that the day I learned about gluten was the day I stopped... -
I'm sorry that happened to your mother, that is awful. For every one person I know with a positive outcome I could list ten that have had negative outcomes, and negative outcome doesn't touch the grief a family feels when they have placed their trust in our current medical system and realized too late the consequences of that was death of a loved one....

A wonderful response Patti, thank you. I am glad for those who have found good doctors, I just don't think that they are in the majority.

ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
rinne replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I'm around but haven't got a lot to say. I do start working part time tomorrow, my catering business, and that will keep me busy. I am looking forward to it but it will be a challenge secretly preparing the SCD for a group that wouldn't generally think of eating that way! How else can I taste the food I'll be serving them? Actually they will get... -
 Call me a fool and a jack***. The fact is I went to doctors and I had tests. My doctor was an idiot that prescribed medication that would have made me sicker if I had taken it. It is standard medication prescribed for digestive disorders and it stops Vitamin B from being absorbed; my Vitamin B levels were at a critically low point at...

ARCHIVED Lots Of Questions
rinne replied to Karen the Mouse's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I wonder if you had a chance to heal when you were on the no starch diet, that is the theory behind the SCD, starve the bad bacteria, repopulate with good bacteria and the gut will heal. I suspect that there are many who are intolerant to gluten because of a history of antibiotic usage, in other words not celiacs but gluten challenged. It appears... -
ARCHIVED Lots Of Questions
rinne replied to Karen the Mouse's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Here is a Open Original Shared Link to some information about that. My understanding is that HCL is made from beets so by eating them fresh you are getting the benefits directly. I know when I had my CT scan I was told it was nothing to be concerned about but I suffered for months after it. I didn't drink the contrast as my mother had reacted to it... -
ARCHIVED Lots Of Questions
rinne replied to Karen the Mouse's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi. Burping could be a sign of celiac but people burp for many reasons, it is a sign that your digestion is not working. A simple tip for your digestion is eating just a little finely grated fresh beet with lemon juice and flax oil with your meals. Someone else will have to help you with testing. Google endoscopy and colonoscopy risks... -
ARCHIVED Can Someone Tell Me If This Is Really Bad?
rinne replied to lollipop23889's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi. What you do next depends on how you are feeling. The day I found out that gluten was causing me pain was the day I stopped eating it. The idea of continuing to damage myself in order that they have some supposed gold standard just didn't appeal to me. Do the research, decide for yourself what works for you. -
Sounds like he was paving the way for you. Doctor J, a vet, has lots to say about wheat and dog food, I think all dogs may be Celiacs. Here is a link for you: Open Original Shared Link We have a border collie cross, they are such great dogs!

I went looking for the beet brownie recipe and found this Open Original Shared Link for a C protocol that looks helpful. -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
rinne replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Michelle, I am glad that you are finding Jay's site helpful. Fish oil is on my list of "to take supplements". I did a little more research on enemas and did a yogurt one with my home made goat yogurt and I thought it helped. C has always been my issue and a week into the diet it stopped being one. It has not gone away entirely, if I eat too much... -
ARCHIVED Why Is Endoscopy Still "the Gold Standard"?
rinne replied to jacflash's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree with Jestgar. I never had a scope and now that I have learned of the risks associated with it I never will, of great concern to me is that they cannot guarantee that the scopes are sterile. There are cases of people getting ill from the procedure itself. What astonishes me is that in order to receive that "gold standard" they want you to continue... -
ARCHIVED Potential Cure Getting Closer?
rinne replied to Ryan T's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
For me, it is not a disease, it is damage caused by a substance my body recognizes as a poison. I suspect it is a poison for many people who are diagnosed with other forms of damage, i.e. Type 2 diabetes, arthritis..... I question what we call disease, after all what are they diagnosing? Damage to the villi and how many people have been told that they... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerance Or Ibs?
rinne replied to browneyedsue's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi. If you have had the same doctor for fifteen years and they have done every test except Celiac then I would suggest finding another doctor. The simplest thing to do to see if changing your diet will make you feel better is to change it radically for a period of time. Bloating and C say that your digestion is challenged and so many foods are... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
rinne replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hi. I introduced too much dairy at first and have since backed off on it, now I limit myself to the goat yogurt which I seem to tolerate better. -
ARCHIVED How Am I Supposed To Get Better?
rinne replied to jasonD2's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi. I sympathize. I have had issues with C for my entire life, unfortunately because it was the norm for me it really never occurred to me that I had a problem until I was thirty or so when taking laxatives occasionally became part of my life because it was becoming problematic. When I became ill my digestion collapsed, I recall one week where... -
ARCHIVED I Feel Like I'm On Mystery Diagnosis
rinne replied to fripp017's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sure, it has happened to lots of us. Here's my theory, what we call disease is damage, when we are first ill we don't have damage but we do have distress, we go for help, the tests look for damage, no damage = no disease, and then we are given medications which suppress our symptoms but do not stop the damage being done. Once we have enough damage... -

ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
rinne replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I'm sorry that happened to you, I've had it happen to me. One "friend" suggested it was just a food trip! I don't spend time with people who think like that anymore and as harsh as some of the lessons were..... getting sick really opened my eyes to the people who do care. I understand now that people who make judgements like that are not my friends... -
ARCHIVED Dr. Wakefield Trial (mmr/autism Possible Link)
rinne replied to AndreaB's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I know it is difficult to detect the intention on net posts but I was not attacking you, I was asking is it possible, given all the factors, that his crime is speaking up and that whatever we hear in the media about him is skewed by those who are determining the dialogue. It seems you do not thing so. That is okay with me, we don't have to agree...
