Hello there!

I am also in Southern Ontario, and would definitely be interested in meeting additional fellow celiacs! I just discovered this site (don't know how I missed it before... :P ) and am so pleased to finally be able to communicate with others who share this problem.

I was diagnosed as a kid, but back then all we knew to avoid was wheat, rye and barley. We didn't have any information about byproducts. Didn't know malt was a no-no, didn't know about HPP being suspect, caramel colour, etc. etc. I'm still learning - only found out about these issues a couple of years ago when I started surfing the net concerning celiac, so you can imagine my concern now, realizing I've been ingesting this "bad" stuff all these years without realizing it was a problem. I am totally asymptomatic, so it's very hard to avoid "cheating"!

Whether we manage to connect in person or not, it's nice to meet you, and I hope to come here often for information and inspiration!

Hi

I also live in southern ontario, but have a two hour access to Toronto. Am glad to know there is someone closer than Calgary. (There are alot of posts from there.)

this is an amazingly informative and helpful web site.

Have 4 very active children and therefore not much time to meet, but am willing to share ideas.

I am not having that much trouble cooking for my husband and 10 year old son, so I'm a little worried I'm doing something wrong!

Have been feeding my son Corn Pops. He is getting pretty sick of them every morning. Are there any other commercial cereals out there from the local grocery store, or do I need to make a trip somewhere to find breakfast cereal?

Nice to hear from you,

Andie

Wow! What an old thread - I wrote this two years ago!

Nice to 'meet' you, Andie. It's a wealth of info, here.

This is really helpful  I had not considered sugar alcohols or inulin as triggers. Thanks for the practical baking tips too color coding and baking G F first makes a lot of sense. Thiamax (TTFD) plus a B-complex, and if you want benfotiamine, the Life Extension formula covers that at ~100 mg.

High fiber can definitely cause sudden GI distress especially if it’s a new addition but accidental gluten exposure can feel similar. Keeping a simple food/symptom log and introducing new gluten-free foods one at a time can really help you spot the pattern. Thanks for asking  I’m mainly looking for gluten-free staples and snacks. Any recommendations for brands or go-to items would be appreciated.

sorry a bit confused so I should take my B complex along with Objective Nutrients Thiamax for TTFD but what about a Benfotiamine to take. The Life extensions contains Benfotiamine and Thiamine together or im confusing myself. I am trying to see if I take Thiamax what should I take for Benfotiamine. Thanks EDITING after further research I see ones water soluble ones fat soluble. So I guess 100MG as you suggested of Life Extension contains Benfotiamine and Thiamine Hydrochloride. and the Objective Nutrients Thiamax contains TTFD.     would work for me.

I put on over 12kg by eating protein with every meal, 3 to 5 times a day. Eggs, Chicken, Tuna, Turkey etc. I stay away from too much red meat as it can be inflammatory. Scott is correct. I've come across a bunch of Coeliac PT's on Tiktok and Instagram. They all say the same thing, the key is getting enough protein and consistency.
