Gluten Consumption And Weight Loss...

Hi,

I'm a little embarrassed to admit this but after being diagnosed with celiac for 7 years and dealing with the weight gain, I need help!

As a teenager, I hated the weight I gained when I went gluten-free. I got really depressed and started avoiding food and I was just scared of food. But then I started eating gluten to lose weight. Please don't judge me, I know it's wrong and it always makes me feel rotten but it works! I want to stop but I don't know how. Does anyone else do this? Has anyone else done this and can give me advice on how to stop? Is this an eating disorder?

I think if you do something harmful, repeatedly, to make yourself lose weight, then you have an eating disorder.

Hi Scriddle,

A lot of people will use laxatives to lose weight which they become dependent on, so at least you aren't doing that.  But yes, if you partake in harmful activity to lose weight, and you are unable to stop, it may be a good idea to go talk to somebody.  If you have health insurance, usually there is a number on the back of the card you can call and they can help you find a practitioner in your area, and sometimes through your employer they will have people you can talk to over the phone.

I wish you the best!

It looks like their most recent clinical trial just finished up on 5-22-2025.

Dear Scott,  please check the link https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT05574010?intr=KAN-101&rank=1 What do you think about it?

KAN‑101 is still very much in development and being actively studied. It has not been dropped—rather, it is advancing through Phases 1 and 2, moving toward what could become the first disease‑modifying treatment for celiac disease. https://anokion.com/press_releases/anokion-announces-positive-symptom-data-from-its-phase-2-trial-evaluating-kan-101-for-the-treatment-of-celiac-disease/

Thiamine interacts with all the other B vitamins.  Thiamine and B 6 make a very important enzyme together. With more thiamine and other vitamins available from the supplements your body is absorbing the ones you need more of.  The body can control which vitamins to absorb or not.  You're absorbing more and it's being transported through the blood.   It's common to have both a Thiamine and a Pyridoxine deficiency.  Keep taking the B Complex. This is why it's best to stop taking supplements for six to eight weeks before testing vitamin levels.

Yes I took a supplement that had B6 in it, low dosage though. I've stopped taking that. B1 doesn't affect other B vitamin levels?
