Gluten Free On The Vegas Strip?

So in a couple of months I'll be out of town for the first time since I cut out gluten and I'm pretty nervous. I'll be staying in a hotel on the Vegas strip, without a car, so I'll be pretty limited to just eating at the restaurants nearby. I have the find me gluten-free app on my phone, but I'd really like to hear some suggestions from people who've been there on this site as well.

I'm kinda worried that everyone is going to suggest salads as well. My body doesnt do too well with leafy greens or raw veggies, so as much as I love salads, I don't want to trust them to keep me feeling good while I'm there.

So does anybody have some good go to places to eat in Vegas, preferable in walking distance of the strip?

Are there any of the chains that are known to be good with gluten-free? red Robin, Outback Steakhouse, California Pizza Kitchen, PF Chang's, Bonefish Grill, Cheeseburger inParadise?

I think they have that small chain with the French name? We don't have it so I can't remember.

There are a TON of restaurants with Chef's there. They *should* know what they are doing and be able to work with you. Look up Vegas on Allergy Eats too. That's been my jumping off point for traveling with food issues.

Bring all of your favorite non-perishable foods with you. Look online and see what restaurants are near your hotel. Check their online menus and phone the restaurants ahead of time and ask if they can accommodate you. Good luck.

I spent 5 or 6 night there last year and ate very sucessfully.   I don't remember all the places, but here are some.    We ate at Outback, and Maggiano's and In and Out Burger (that one is back off the strip some)

For breakfast we ate at  Mon Ami Gabi (in Paris); Hash House a Gogo and the Peppermill (Peppermill was risky, not sure I would do it again although the food was great and I didn't get sick, they were extremely busy and didn't have a gluten-free menu)

We ate at a burger place in the Mirage (don't recall the name)

That is all I can remember.   Like StephanieL said a lot of Chef's so you can speak directly often.   Also a lot of fine dining places if you don't mind spending the extra money.

I ate at Pepper mill A LOT. Had no issues but I'm sure cross contamination risks are high there.

What are your daily meals? Guilty pleasure snacks? Protein bars? I feel when looking for gluten free foods they are filled with sugar cholesterol. Looking for healthy gluten-free protein bars. Something to fill since sometimes I feel like not to eat anything. Especially if on vacation and unsure of cross contamination I figure go with a salad and protein bar to fill and play it safe.

Unfortunately, there is presently no test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out. NCGS is thought to be much more common than celiac disease. We know that celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder but the mechanism of NCGS is less clear. Both call for an elimination of gluten from the diet.

Thanks for your reply Trents…most appreciated.  I am unfamiliar with celiac labs terminology so I wanted to know if the presence of HLA variants (DA:101, DA:105, DQB1:0301 and DQB1:0501) that the labs detected had any merit in predisposing one to be more sensitive to gluten/carbs than the general population?  Also,  I found what you said about NCGS very interesting and I appreciate you mentioning that.  I’ve worked hard to research and advocate for myself with my Hematologist and now with a new GI, since my bowel surgery and to maintain my Vitamin B12 health concurrent with keeping my levels of Iron in the optimal range. I’ve been tested for SIBO (do not have it), biopsy showed negative for HPylori, and have had Fecal studies done (nothing showed up) and I understand how a loss of a large amount of bowel could be highly impacting re: SIBO, malabsorption and motility issues. So I’ve managed pretty well diet and elimination-wise until just recently. That said, this new problem with extreme bloating, distention and upper girth, NAFLD just occured over the last 4 months so it is new for me and I thought celiac might be a possible issue. I’ll probably just continue on in this less gluten/carbs seem to be better for me and see how reintroducing certain foods go.  Thanks again.

Thanks bumped it up and now take all 3 vitamins 2 capsules each with the super b complex at breakfast. I will give it some time to see if I notice a difference. I am going to track my eating daily diary on a myfitness pal app to see if the "claimed" gluten free foods bother me or not.

Please can anyone help. I was diagnosed on 23rd December and I am trying my best to get my head around all the things to look out for. I have read that yeast extract is not to be eaten by coeliacs. Why? And is this all yeast extract. Or is this information wrong. Thanks.
