Hang in there Brian!  You are normal, at least for someone who has celiac disease.  If things become really difficult, I would suggest talking to your doctor.  We can have other issues that are not related to celiac disease (virus, depression, hormone issues, etc,.).  Let's face it.  Having celiac disease is hard.  It can be overwhelming.   I am sick of cooking three meals a day, hosting every family party gluten-free, reading every label....but it is easier as time goes by.  celiac disease is the only disease that a doctor diagnoses and then tells you to treat yourself (gluten-free diet).  Imagine doing that for someone with MS or cancer?  It is socially difficult since our society revolves around food.

Did i depress you more?  Nah, this forum lets me vent, helps me solve problems and I have "met" some really nice people here who understand me.  So, welcome!

I have crazy mood swings but most are now due to menopausal issues (throw in some Holiday Stress for me these last two weeks) and not celiac disease since I have been gluten free for over two years.  Getting glutened just compounds other issues.   Make sure you are not getting any hidden gluten.  Me?  Back on some estrogen and it is helping!

i had a rough first year (at least) navigating the diet.  i thought i could 'just order off the gluten free menu', basically.  that it wasn't 'that difficult, no problem.....'  so, i got cross contaminated quite a bit in the beginning.  when i finally managed to start cutting ALL gluten out i sure noticed when i got accidentally glutened (as did everyone around me) because i turned into a jerk.  i could hear myself in my head,  thinking:  man.  what a jerk!  but, it was a result from getting hit by the gluten monster.  this may be what is happening to you?  have you read the 'newbie 101' locked thread on the coping page?  it offers many helpful suggestions on how to keep yourself and your food safe and alot of things normal people don't have to worry about (but we do)   welcome to the forum :)

Hello, just popped in my head to ask this question about medications and celiac? I have always had refurse reaction to meds since I can remember  of what little meds my body is able to tolerate. I was taking gabapentin 300mg for a week,  in past I believe 150? Any ways it amps me up not able to sleep, though very tired. However I did notice it helped with my bloating sibo belly.I hate that my body is that sensitive and medical doesn't seem to take seriously. Im STILL healing with my skin, eye, and now ms or meningioma ( will know in April  which)and dealing with this limbo nightmare. I did write my name, address ect on the reclamation but im not tech savvy and not sure if went through properly. I called my city representative in Stanislaus County and asked if theres a physical paper i can sign for proclamation for celiac and she had no clue about what I was saying, so I just said I'll go back on website.

I'm not saying that some celiacs won't need it, but it should be done under a doctor's supervision because it can cause lots of problems in some people.

I also noticed I get debilitating migraines when I smell gluten, wheat and its not taken seriously when it affects one in every way.Im still begging to properly be heard.I also noticed tolerance level is down the drain with age and life changes. I have been told by incompetent medical that im not celiac or that sensitive. Diagnosed in 1994 by gi biopsy gluten-free ever since along with other lovely food allergies. Prayers

trents:  Why some can tolerate european bread but not american bread.     I take 600 mcg a day.  Right in the middle of the safe range.   Groups at Risk of Iodine Inadequacy Though though the NIH does not specifically list Celiac Disease in this group, they state: "Iodide is quickly and almost completely absorbed in the stomach and duodenum. Iodate is reduced in the gastrointestinal tract and absorbed as iodide [2,5]."  That would certainly include malabsorption of Iodine due to Celiac Disease with resultant Iodine Deficiency. Vegans and people who eat few or no dairy products, seafood, and eggs People who do not use iodized salt Pregnant women People with marginal iodine status who eat foods containing goitrogens Deficiencies of iron and/or vitamin A may also be goitrogenic [51] https://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/Iodine-HealthProfessiona   1
