Yeast Overgrowth

Hello, I had a question about yeast over growth in the body. I am a Celiac and have been gluten free for 3 years. These past few weeks I've noticed a lot of symptoms I have that seem to coincide with yeast or candida. I'm tired all the time, very itchy along with a host of other symptoms. My blood sugar is also very very low. The only thing I've done differently the past few weeks was frequently dining at my in laws home. Unfortunately ,  they don't take cross contamination seriously, or my Celiac seriously as much as I try to point it out. Could an accidental ingestion of gluten cause candida overgrowth in Celiacs??

Thank you for reading, Mitchie

I was surprisingly diagnosed with celiac disease during my first "routine" colonoscopy consult after turning 50 (hey, all my friends were getting them!). My main symptom was anemia.  No tummy issues at all.  I got glutened last July. at least I suspected it.  I was vomiting, ab pain....had all the classic celiac disease symptoms.  My GI thought it was SIBO a because I am so diligent about my diet.  Follow-up celiac panel revealed elevated (sky high) antibodies.

What I am trying to tell you is that symptoms can change.  Want to know for sure?  Get tested.  Especially, if you have not been tested in a while.   I would ask for a thyroid check before worrying about Candida.  Hypo thyroidism can cause fatigue and itchiness.

Take care!

Systemic yeast overgrowth in individuals with normal immunity is a myth. Everyone can get fungal infection on the skin, but usually only people with impaired immunity (AIDS, chemotherapy, steroid treatment, immunosuppressants) get systemic candidiasis.

If you will have a stool test for candida, of course they will find some candida, because it is a part of normal intestinal flora. But this does not mean candidiasis.

Gluten also does not likely cause candidiasis. You might have SIBO, though, so you may want to get tested for that. And you may have deficiency of some minerals and vitamins (iron and vitam B deficiency are common and can cause fatigue), so get tested for that, too.

Hello, just popped in my head to ask this question about medications and celiac? I have always had refurse reaction to meds since I can remember  of what little meds my body is able to tolerate. I was taking gabapentin 300mg for a week,  in past I believe 150? Any ways it amps me up not able to sleep, though very tired. However I did notice it helped with my bloating sibo belly.I hate that my body is that sensitive and medical doesn't seem to take seriously. Im STILL healing with my skin, eye, and now ms or meningioma ( will know in April  which)and dealing with this limbo nightmare. I did write my name, address ect on the reclamation but im not tech savvy and not sure if went through properly. I called my city representative in Stanislaus County and asked if theres a physical paper i can sign for proclamation for celiac and she had no clue about what I was saying, so I just said I'll go back on website.

I'm not saying that some celiacs won't need it, but it should be done under a doctor's supervision because it can cause lots of problems in some people.

I also noticed I get debilitating migraines when I smell gluten, wheat and its not taken seriously when it affects one in every way.Im still begging to properly be heard.I also noticed tolerance level is down the drain with age and life changes. I have been told by incompetent medical that im not celiac or that sensitive. Diagnosed in 1994 by gi biopsy gluten-free ever since along with other lovely food allergies. Prayers

trents:  Why some can tolerate european bread but not american bread.     I take 600 mcg a day.  Right in the middle of the safe range.   Groups at Risk of Iodine Inadequacy Though though the NIH does not specifically list Celiac Disease in this group, they state: "Iodide is quickly and almost completely absorbed in the stomach and duodenum. Iodate is reduced in the gastrointestinal tract and absorbed as iodide [2,5]."  That would certainly include malabsorption of Iodine due to Celiac Disease with resultant Iodine Deficiency. Vegans and people who eat few or no dairy products, seafood, and eggs People who do not use iodized salt Pregnant women People with marginal iodine status who eat foods containing goitrogens Deficiencies of iron and/or vitamin A may also be goitrogenic [51] https://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/Iodine-HealthProfessiona   1
