Hi,

I am interested in buying nonGMO and gluten-free nuts and found this site. I am wondering if others have ever purchased products from it.

Thanks!

Looks good for gluten free, even has certifications. My issue is they all come from a peanut facility.

While on this topic anyone know where I can get reasonably priced, cashews, pistachios, macadamia nuts etc. that are Gluten, peanut, soy, and dairy free? I always find ones made in the same facility as or over $9 a lb.  Pretty much why I have been sticking to almonds, coconut, pecans and seeds -_- . I miss the others honestly.

I have some nuts.com bags in my freezer now!  Yes, I use them.  Gives me piece of mind for sure.  I do purchase other nuts from Costco, but not the ones labeled that they are produced in a shared facility with wheat.   I also take the time to contact nut companies and inquire about how they process their nuts.  Usually, those companies just process the just-harvested nut and do not manufacture any flavored nuts.

I like ordering and shipping nuts.com orders to my parent's house in Georgia.  Reduces the amount of time for shopping and doing gluten research while on vacation.

Do not forget that this is nut season.  I buy bulk, on sale from the grocery store (in the shell) and freeze them too.  Wash and crack them open.  No worries about cross contamination.  Kind of slows down nut consumption for those in my family who tend to over eat!

I and many others do Nuts.com. Great company! Try their goji squares, you'll swallow your tongue.

Ennis, I have no answer on cashews and since pistachios always come with the shell split, I have no answer on those either HOWEVER, Nuts.com has macadamia nuts in the shell so you could get those & you could even wash them off before cracking them open so you made sure to eliminate any peanut residue on the shell. I must warn you though that the suckers are very difficult to crack. You can't do it with a nutcracker. Here are some methods:

As for me, I throw the nut on a hard surface to get the inside loose, you can shake it near your ear & listen for the rattle. Then I go to the joint seam in the concrete driveway, place the nut in the joint with the "navel" up & whack it with a hammer.

Are you saying you are one or we are?  Sorry had to ask. :)

I agree with Nuts.com.  I've ordered from them and had no problems.  They tend to put cryptic messages on their packaging though so it may be while before you can get to opening it.

Where do you get your coconut? I've been trying to find safe unsweetened coconut and haven't been able to find anything other than products from questionable sources. Thanks!

Unsweetened coconut flakes, toasted pieces, and de fatted flakes I use Let's go Organic from where ever is cheaper at the time, normally nab it on sale at my local grocers. For flour I stick to Nutivia Organic coconut flour as I normal find it on health sites for under $10 for 3lbs and tend to add it to everything for a thickening agent, cooking flour, fat/fiber source in shakes and icecream, etc.

@Ennis_TX - Thanks! I'll keep an eye out for these and give them a try.

I'm very sensitive and I've never had an issue with the Wonderful Pistachio brand.  They go on sale at the supermarket often and there are usually coupons available in the newspaper

Cristiana, that sounds like a great approach and I will be looking forward to the results. I am in the same boat as you. I don't experience overt symptoms with minor, cross contamination level exposures so I sometimes will indulge in those "processed on equipment that also processes wheat . . ." or items that don't specifically claim to be gluten free but do not list gluten containing grains in their ingredient list. But I always wonder if I am still experiencing sub acute inflammatory reactions. I haven't had any celiac antibody blood work done since my diagnosis almost 25 years ago so I don't really have any data to go by.

I've been reflecting on this further. The lowest TTG I've ever managed was 4.5 (normal lab reading under 10).  Since then it has gone up to 10.   I am not happy with that.  I can only explain this by the fact that I am eating out more these days and that's where I'm being 'glutened', but such small amounts that I only occasionally react. I know some of it is also to do with eating products labelled 'may contain gluten' by mistake - which in the UK means it probably does! It stands to reason that as I am a coeliac any trace of gluten will cause a response in the gut.  My villi are healed and look healthy, but those lymphocytes are present because of the occasional trace amounts of gluten sneaking into my diet.   I am going to try not to eat out now until my next blood test in the autumn and read labels properly to avoid the may contain gluten products, and will then report back to see if it has helped!

Hi, I posted before about my son's legs shaking after gluten. I did end up starting him on vit b and happily he actually started sleeping better and longer.  Back to my 4 year old. She had gone back to meltdowns, early wakes, and exhaustion. We tested everything again and her ferritin was lowish again (16) and vit d was low. After a couple weeks on supplements she is cheerful, sleeping better and looks better. The red rimmed eyes and dark circles are much better.   AND her Ttg was a 3!!!!!! So, we are crushing the gluten-free diet which is great. But WHY are her iron and vit d low if she's not getting any gluten????  She's on 30mg of iron per day and also a multivitamin and vit d supplement (per her dr). That helped her feel better quickly. But will she need supplements her whole life?? Or is there some other reason she's not absorbing iron? We eat very healthy with minimal processed food. Beef maybe 1x per week but plenty of other protein including eggs daily.  She also says her tummy hurts every single morning. That was before the iron (do not likely a side effect). Is that common with celiac?

Celiac disease is the most likely cause, but here are articles about the other possible causes:
