After a ton of job interviews, I got a great job offer this morning! Will be working full time at a public elementary school! Perfect job, lovely principal, very supportive sounding. Job starts in late august so only a bit more of working pt. Not that I don't love what I'm doing now- I'm a support professional helping a woman with disabilities- but the pay is putrid. Not nearly enough to live on! Hooray!

Yes! I was born to two artists who were both halves of the art dept at the university we lived next to. So I was brought up with art and teaching 24-7. When I was in school I was always doing the teachers' bulletin boards and drawing posters for them. It was natural to follow in my parents footsteps. Been making art my whole life, and teaching almost every year since grad school. Even married another artist. I've taught art in public school 22 years, college 4 years and private 1 year. Left teaching for 3 years when my mom died out of the blue and my elderly disabled father needed me to help him out until he died. It's been a struggle get back in, as last year was just the part time at the private (which pays very little.) I'm so happy to be back in the public schools. Thanks for asking!

That's great!  Do you mind my asking about your art?  I love art!  Are you a painter?  What do you like to make?

i am not an artist....I am an art dabbler.  I am starting a project to make a fish in the Calder style.  Sort of like my profile pic.  A bit frustrating but fun.

I love Calder....I've made mobiles in his style and it's so much fun! What media are you going to use? Construction paper stabiles are fun to make with kids. I remember as a kid, one time in a museum I blew on a part of a stabile to make it move... the guard comes rushing up to tell me not to, of course. And I'm thinking " Didn't Calder make it so it would catch wind and move? Wouldn't he be happy to see the part that's meant to move, move? " Have you been to the east wing in D.C.?

If you ever want to spend the summer at the lake, I have a great concrete wall to mosaic!

i am trying to make the fish with copper tubing for the outside, wire to make the guts.  I have lots of stained glass and costume jewelry and other " stuff".  This one is  my experiment one using some old copper tubing that was left with the house.  I may try to paint it like Calder.  Not sure for my first try.  Trying to get the twisted tubing straight and flat was a chore.  I think I need to solder it or weld it - both of which I didn't bring with me to the lake, of course!

Gee, you didn't bring your oxyacetylene torch with you?

sounds like a great project. I love the hirshorne. Last time I was there was prolly 14 years ago when I held my middle son as a baby in front of a jasper john and took his pic. His name is jasper :) Their sculpture garden is the best, Rodin being my favorite.

      Sainsbury's Free From White Sliced Bread - Now Egg Free - Completely Ruined It

      This is a common experience across the board with various brands of gluten-free bread products. Prices go up, size goes down. Removal of the egg component may be for the purpose of cost-cutting related to bird flu supply shortages or it may be catering to those with egg allergy/sensitivity, fairly common in the celiac community.

Has anyone here had braces and did it cause any problems or issues with gum recession?  Her dentist seemed oblivious that celiac patients are at higher risk of gum disease /cavities. Her bottom teeth are crooked but are pretty hidden even when she smiles. Thank you!!

      Living with Coeliac Disease since birth, Bread has always been an issue, never too nice, small slices and always overpriced, But Sainsbury's Free From White Sliced Bread seemed to me to be an exception with it's large uniform 12 x 12cm slices that had the bounce, texture and taste of white bread even after toasting with no issue that it was also Milk Free. Unfortunately Sainsbury's have changed the recipe and have made it 'Egg Free' too and it has lost everything that made the original loaf so unique. Now the loaf is unevenly risen with 8 x 8cm slices at best, having lost it's bounce with the texture dense and cake like after toasting resembling nothing like White Bread anymore. Unsure as to why they have had to make it 'Egg Free' as the price is the same at £1.90 a loaf. Anyone else experiencing the same issue with it? - also any recommendations for White Bread that isn't prescription? / Tesco's / Asda's are ok but Sainsbury's was superior.

We  got about halfway up and got stuck in the mud. We tried everything we could think of but an hour later we were still stuck. Finally a pickup came down the road, laughed at our situation, then pulled the VW free of the mud. We followed him back to the ski area where where he started up the rope ski lift and we had an enjoyable hour of skiing and gave us a shot of aquavit  before we left.It was a great rescue.  In some ways this reminds me of your situation. You are waiting for a rescue and you have chosen medical practitioners to do it now or as soon as possible. As you have found out the med. experts have not learned how to help you. You face years of continuing to feel horrible, frustrated searching for your rescuer to save you. You can break away from from this pattern of thinking and you have begun breaking  away by using some herbs and supplements from doTerra. Now you can start trying some of the suggestions thatother Celiacs have written to your original posts.  You live with other people who eat gluten foods. Cross contamination is very possible. Are you sure that their food is completely separate from their food. It  is not only the gluten grains you need to avoid (wheat, barley, rye) but possibly oats, cows milk also. Whenever you fall back into that angry and frustrated way of thinking get up and walk around for a whild. You will learn ways to break that way of thinking about your problems.  Best wishes for your future. May you enjpy a better life.

      Thanks for responding. I researched further and Lindt Lindor chocolate balls do contain barely malt powder which contains gluten. I was surprised at all of the conflicting information I found when I checked online.
