Anyone Else Do This At The Grocery Store?

I will suspect I've found a new gluten-free product on the shelf, but not quit sure. So I look for a 1-800 # on the package and call it right on the spot while standing in the middle of the aisle (I love cell phones) and ask the rep if this product is gluten-free.

Its really amazing how helpful some of this people are! Thats how I found out about Mahatma Yellow rice w/ zaffron, ummmm boy! Love that stuff! Did the same with Prego traditional Spagetti sauce. the Prego people, who are really campbells soup, took my address right there and sent me a whole list of there gluten-free products. Most probably already know this, But it you don't, don't be shy, give um a call.

First of all for those of you who do not have the Delfi List of Gluten Free Product (listed by named brands), you need to have this downloaded onto your computer.

Second, I spend about an hour and half at the grocery store. It has come to one of the things that I enjoy, because it is a challange. I read and read. Only through education, will we get through this. There are actually so many things that we can have that are gluten free. I know that many of you do not have to time to dedicate for shopping. I am fortunate to do so.

I am a firm believer in McCormicks seasonings. I still read the lables because it is too much to inject into this brain fogged mind, to remember many of the items that I have seen on this site. I love seasoned foods and I feel that I cook fairly well.

Annie's Roasted Pepper Salad Dressing..........are all my staples for good cooking

I love the grocery store.........it's like a treasure hunt...challenging and a learning experience combined. :):):)

I just learned that 2 foods that I used to love, and thought that I had to give up, were safe! Thanks! Mahatma Saffron Rice and Lipton Dry Onion Soup Mix! I ordered the $30 gluten-free product catalog from this site, but have not looked through everything as there is just too much in it. Never thought that I would be saying that!

It has only been since August that I was screaming for help here on the site. It is hard to believe how much you can learn in this short of time. I couldn't have done it without all of you.

There are so many new names here that I would like to know. I am not so good with the technical part of the disease, but I can sure help others get started and show how well you can eat and avoid gluten.

I am not at all familiar with the delphi list? Sounds like I am missing something, which is no surprise. I was diagnosed in June '05 and this is my first time ever chatting! Please send me the list.

It's a 79-page list of gluten-free foods updated by the members of a board hosted by Delphiforums.com (under the health and wellness section go to the first celiac forum you see). I'll send it to you, though.

      Do you have the results of your endoscopy? Did you do a celiac disease blood panel before that?  Here is more info about how to do a gluten challenge for a celiac disease blood panel, or for an endoscopy: and this recent study recommends 4-6 slices of wheat bread per day:

      It is odd that your Tissue Transglutaminase (TTG) IgA level has bounced from the "inconclusive" range (7.9, 9.8) down to a negative level (5.3), only to climb back up near the positive threshold. This inconsistency, coupled with your ongoing symptoms of malabsorption and specific nutrient deficiencies, is a strong clinical indicator that warrants a more thorough investigation than a simple "satisfactory" sign-off. A negative blood test does not definitively rule out celiac disease, especially with such variable numbers and a classic symptomatic picture. You are absolutely right to seek a second opinion and push for a referral to a gastroenterologist. A biopsy remains the gold standard for a reason, and advocating for one is the most direct path to getting the answers you need to finally address the root cause of your suffering.       There is a distinction between gluten itself and the other chemicals and processing methods involved in modern food production. Your experience in Italy and Greece, contrasted with your reactions in the U.S., provides powerful anecdotal evidence that the problem, for some people, may not be the wheat, but the additives like potassium bromate and the industrial processing it undergoes here.       @Scott Adams That's actually exactly what I ended up asking for— vodka tonic with Titos.  I saw on their website that Tito's is certified gluten-free (maybe many of the clear vodkas are, I don't know, I just happened to look up Tito's in advance). I should have actually specified the 'splash' though, because I think with the amount of tonic she put in there, it did still end up fairly sweet.  Anyway, I think I've almost got this drink order down!

      Be interesting to see the effects of dairy reintroduction with gluten. As well as milk protein sensitivity in and of itself the casein part particularly has been shown to mimic gluten in about 50% of celiacs. Keep us posted!
