Hi,

Sorry you didn't get a response sooner.  Sometimes threads get missed.

It is best to feed your daughter a simple diet of whole foods.  Avoid processed foods.  Also, she may have trouble digesting dairy for a few months, so use almond milk or something like that, just not soy milk.

Meats, veggies, nuts and fruits are good foods for her.  A high protein diet is good.  Lots of protein is good for healing.  She may like avocados if they are available.  Peanut butter is also high protein.  The newbie info thread has some tips and advice that may help.

If a product is labelled "gluten-free" it is considered to be safe for people with celiac disease (in the USA they need to test below 20 ppm). Some people prefer to eat only foods that are certified gluten-free, which are supposed to test below 10 ppm, however, they don't always test this low.

Why are so many gluten free items not safe for celiacs. I read labels all the time. I don’t know how many times they say that and are not safe for people who have celiacs. So confused. Help….
