we have just gone from a normal family----to 3 children with celiac....ok, we probably have had celiac for awhile, just undiagnosed. our ped gi had been leaning towards thinking tianna did not have celiac and that her esophagitis was causing the blood results we got----until he got the blood results from the rest of us that have been tested. i tested negative, my 16 year old is IgA deficient, so will require further blood work, kassie tested positive and molly tested positive. i havae already taken in 2 more kids for blood work and will take another one in later today. since one twin had an iffy biopsy and the other had a negative biopsy, (molly has had no biopsy)he wants me to go ahead and put all 3 girls on a gluten free diet and see if they all improve rather than insisting on more biopsies------i like this doctor.

I think it would make it easier on you and your family if you can try to get your entire family gluten free... the ones that test negative right now are still more prone to develop complications from it later on.

And, I think that as time goes on, those of us with gluten intolerance will be the Normal ones... I truly believe that humans are not designed to consume wheat, it is a toxic grain and is poisoning people every day. I have a theory that eventually medical science will conclude that gluten is the cause in the increase in so many "epidemics" of ill health like cancer and obesity, diabetes, depression and anxiety, ADD/ADHD, autism/aspergers, infertility, heart disease, hypertension, thyroid issues, IBS/IBD... and on and on...

Before I as DX'd and it was just my son, we all went gluten-free cause its alot simpler, and cheaper (less double buying), so I have to second that suggestion.

I would agree with the others. I would say take the whole family gluten-free that way there is no possibility of cross contamination at home and chances are you have it too. You don't need to be working with gluten or having it in the air to contaminate the others and possibly yourself.

      I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

      Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?

      Thankyou so much for your words.Its a hard battle when a supposed well known hospital whose celiac " specialist " has down played me because my colon looks fine and put it in my medical and so pcp doesn't take seriously. In their eyes we all carry that gene.Im having alot of bad days trying to be positive because of it.
