Here is the response I got back from Procter and Gamble on Joy Dish Soap:

Hi, Jessica.

I recently purchased a gluten free/casein free shopping guide. It is updated every year, so these should be current and it also lists toiletry and cleaning products. This is what it says under Household Products:

Colgate-Palmolive Household Products

Ajax dish liquids-all variants

Crystal White octagon lemon dish liquid

Dermassage dish liquid

Palmolive dish liquids-all variants

Palmolive gel dishwasher detergent

Ajax All Purpose cleaner-lemon & ammonia

Ajax cleanser

Sun & Earth Hypoallergenic Diswashing Liquid

Nature's Plus Hypoallergenic Liquid Soap

I hope this helps. I was never a name brand shopper until I had to go gluten-free. I would buy whatever I felt like getting, or what was on sale. Now I have to stick to the brands that work for me! I guess I'll start looking for coupons for these products!

God bless,

I didn't realize that we needed to worry about dish soap. So many things to think about....

Speaking of dishes, though, my in-laws just visited here, and I'm feeling sick again. I think it's their dish-washing method. They fill the sink, then dunk in the dishes (full of wheat crumbs), rub the sponge around, and then put them in the rack--no rinsing! Am I being overparanoid in thinking that this could result in contamination? Dish soap issues aside, I ALWAYS rinse well, especially when there's bread crumbs around, and usually don't do the fill-the-sink method. Plus, how much soap am I ingesting if the dishes aren't rinsed?

Thanks for your input!

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.

I hope you are on the mend soon. About 1 in 5 people who contracted chicken pox as a child go on to develop shingles in later life - it is not uncommon. There are 5 known members of the herpes virus family including chicken pox that commonly infect humans, and they all cause lifelong infections. The exact cause of viral reactivation as in the case of shingles or cold sores is not well understood, but stress, sunburn and radiotherapy treatment are known triggers. Some of the herpes viruses are implicated in triggering autoimmune diseases: Epstein-Barr virus is suspected of triggering multiple sclerosis and lupus, and there is a case where it is suspected of triggering coeliac disease. As to whether coeliac disease can increase the likelihood of viral reactivation, there have been several cohort studies including a large one in Sweden suggesting that coeliac disease is associated with a moderate increase in the likelihood of developing shingles in people over the age of 50. US 2024 - Increased Risk of Herpes Zoster Infection in Patients with Celiac Disease 50 Years Old and Older Sweden 2018 - Increased risk of herpes zoster in patients with coeliac disease - nationwide cohort study
