Vincent -- we have Wild Oats here -- haven't gone there because I'm afraid of the prices! Are they very expensive? I know that Kroger's organic section is pretty high -- but that's where we're buying from right now. I'm also afraid that if I go into Wild Oats that I'll spend a fortune! We also have (what I think is) the Whole Foods Market -- something like that. Just wanting to know how expensive it is compared to regular stuff. Kind of on a REALLY tight budget. . . Lynne

Its a mix. Some of the stuff, like the Panda Puffs are cheaper then Kroger, other stuff is more pricey. Its the only place around here htat carries some of the more special stuff. Like my wife loves the amartha cereal and thats the only place to get it. Some times my son loves the gluten-free Chicken Nuggest they carry, and thats the only place to get them. Plus they have a nice selection of gluten-free junk food, which Kroger realy does not have.

Just gotta know your prices, and shop around.

Only real complaint I have is the isles are way to narrow theres now place to push the stroler that toddler hands cant reach out and grab stuff.

We do not have a Whole Foods. Thier web site says we will get one soon, but its been saying that for over a year.

Ha! Definitely time for new pants!:lol::lol:

Maybe if the other products do well, they'll realize that they should get the K-Toos as well. I haven't had them (like oreos, right?), but I'm sure I'll get there sooner or later. Enjoy the donuts!

Guest nini

ahhh, enjoy the donuts! I've found that ONE donut usually satisfies me now! My kid can usually only eat 1/2 a donut, so I cut them in half for her, good thing too since they are so pricey! My current fave (just had this morning) is the cinnamon sugar coated donuts! YUM!

Yep! They are rumored to be extremly good, but cant find them here LOL. I sure hope their gluten-free stuff sells well, its a very extensive selection now! I saw a shelf lable for "gluten-free Family Pack Prestels" but they were out of them. Would have gotten some if they were there though. Wife is looking for gluten-free prestles hehe.

I saw those, but before going gluten-free I had a real weakness for the cholate doughnuts at Dunkin Doughnuts, so I got these and I grabbed some Cininoman RASIN begals too, but I think they were enjoy life brand. Forget right now. (Yea I know big shock on the raisins! LOL) Also picked up some tinkyada pasta... still need but a colander. LOL saw one at Kroger for 12.99!!! It was filthy too like it been on the shelf for years, at that price I would not dobut it! Was small too, prbly only fit a 1/4 pound or so of pasta.

I took 2 of the doughnuts out and put them in baggies on the counter to thaw, and tossed rest in fridge. Figure can have one after diner and one tommorow, and take out more as needed.

Hi Vincent,

I saw gluten-free pretezels at the Turnip Truck in Nashville (on Woodland) the last time I was there. They had only the small packages of the seseame covered ones. It's been a couple of months or more, but that might be where your wife can find some.

Never heard of that place?

Actually ordering by the case is the way to go as they usually give you a 15% discount. And a case of the donuts is only 2 packages. So not too bad! Have you looked on the Kinnikinick site to see where they sell their products in your area?

It's on the corner of 10th and Woodland at 970 Woodland St. Phone: 650-3600

They are a very small market, but they have a few gluten-free items.

Yes and the only list wild oats. I think they said there was 6 in a case. But they siad there would be no discout for the case, it would be the shilfprice times number of pieces.

They make Gluten-Free Chicken Nuggets??????? :D Okay, I'm going . . . I'm geting tired of Puffins, smoothies and junior mints for junk food!

Vincent, I didn't even read that you were from Nashville -- we get down that way every once in awhile -- Dave has some friends there that we visit. Next visit, I'll have to PM you so that my husband and I can meet up with your family and I can see that cutie Tymber in person! We're in Louisville, KY

I had to laugh about the narrow aisles -- I hated that when my kids were little -- I'd get to the checkout, and I'd have all this stuff -- expensive cereals, gummies, fruit roll-ups -- in my cart. I'd just look at them, and then give the stuff to the cashier with a sheepish look on my face and say "we really didn't want these -- I'm sorry." When Brandon was REALLY little, he used to sit and reach back into the cart -- I can't tell you how many times he poked holes through the meat packages if I put them on the top. It was really FUNNY in retrospect!!

At any rate, I feel a long trip to Wild Oats coming on . . . .

Talk to you guys soon . . . . Lynne :)

Lynne,

Yea, these:

Tymber likes them, but they are a bit spicier then I expected. Not hot, just a touch spicy. They make the normal Tyson chicken nuggguts seem bland! LOL

As for your Nashville trips... sounds good! :)

GO FOR THE CASE! They are sooooo good. You can always hide them in the cupboard and open them for special occasions. I ate way too many around Christmas and am waiting to order more until I get my weight back under control, but I will get more. They are extra yummy crushed up and mixed in with coconut sorbet.

Belle and I love those chicken nuggets!! Sorry about the 6 in a case! Any other places by you that would sell you a case and get a discount?

Acording to Kinikinicks website, they are the only ppl in Nashville that carrie thier products. :( Not seen thier stuff elsewhere, so I am forced to guess that is right.

Becky6 Enthusiast

That sucks!! Do you have any co-ops near you or a whole foods where you could request they sell them? Whold foods will give you a discount on cases. I contacted the Mpls Whole foods and she said she was working on geting Kinnikinick there and that some other cities already had them. So it is worth a shot!

Guest nini

Yeah, I was going to suggest that you go to other stores in your area (or call them) and request that they consider carrying Kinnickinick products. I just asked my local Publix about it, and the asst. manager was going to look into seeing if he could order them. It's worth it to ask, the worst they can say is NO!

Over a year ago whole foods annoicned they were comming to Nashville, but theres no sign of them yet. Thier site still says comming soon.

I guess I could ask at my Kroger, but realy not had good luck with them ordering anything. They can only order it if its in thier computer, and I doubt this will be. The nearest publics ia quite a hike so would not bother there. Maybe if my Astronomy Business does not work out I can open a gluten-free store LOL

Becky6 Enthusiast

seriously I have thought of opening a gluten-free store here! One that carries everything! Then I don't have to run to 5 different stores to get what I need!!!

Well, I get most of what we need from Kroger (normal food store), so its not bad. If Wholefoods ever comes to town that could make things a bit nicer. :D

Are you asking if it is typical to only have the ttg-iga be high and the other tests being within normal range? Is so, the answer is it is very common. What other tests were included in the celiac panel? Can you list all tests and include not only the scores but the reference ranges? Different labs use different reference ranges so it is difficult to say much by just looking at the scores. Welcome to the forum, @kpf!
    • kpf
Levels on my celiac panel were within normal range except ttg iga which was tagged as high (646 mg/dl). Is that typical?
    • ShariW
A lot of people erroneously think soy is a problem for people needing to be on a gluten-free diet. Trents' comment above speaks to some celiacs also having a sensitivity to soy, but this is just some of them.  However, soy sauce is something anyone following a gluten-free diet should be wary of. Many soy sauces contain wheat, which is where the soy/gluten confusion comes into play. There is gluten-free soy sauce available, just read labels to be sure. I use San-J Tamari, which is gluten-free but does contain soy, in place of regular soy sauce.
