Do I have celiac or am I gluten intolerant, or what am I?

What does is mean to have a weak positive result for t-Transglutaminase IgG (actual result is 6U/ml)? Do I need to stay away from gluten? I'm bloated, gassy and have androgenic hairless and Hashimotos.

Here are my results:

Deamidated Gliadin Ab, IgA my value: 5 standard range: 0 - 19

Deamidated Gliadin Abs, IgG my value: 4 standard range: 0 - 19

t-Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA my value:<2 U/mL0 - 3 U/mL

t-Transglutaminase IgG my value:6 U/mL0 - 5 U/mLH

ENDOMYSIAL ANTIBODY IgA my value: Negative

IgA, Serum my value: 154 mg/dL standard range: 87 - 352 mg/dL

Antigliadin Abs, IgA my value: Not applicable

Antigliadin Abs, IgG my value: Not applicable

I don't see that you have any positives at all in the data you listed. The key one is the tTG-IGA and your value is 2 whereas the reference range goes all the way up to 19.

Welcome to the forum!

If I am reading your results correctly, it looks like you have one positive test for celiac disease:

  • t-Transglutaminase IgG my value: 6 - U/mL 0 - 5 U/mL  - H

It's a bit less specific than the tTG IgA, but still a positive test. At this point your doctor may want to schedule an endoscopy to confirm a celiac disease diagnosis. Here is more about blood tests:

Yes, thanks for catching that, Scott. That one is positive. The formatting sometimes makes it difficult to spot those.

Be sure to keep eating gluten daily until all celiac tests are finished.

What you’re describing is actually very common, and unfortunately the timing of the biopsy likely explains the confusion. Yes, it is absolutely possible for the small intestine to heal enough in three months on a strict gluten-free diet to produce a normal or near-normal biopsy, especially when damage was mild to begin with. In contrast, celiac antibodies can stay elevated for many months or even years after gluten removal, so persistently high antibody levels alongside the celiac genes and clear nutrient deficiencies strongly point to celiac disease, even if you don’t feel symptoms. Many people with celiac are asymptomatic but still develop iron and vitamin deficiencies and silent intestinal damage. The lack of immediate symptoms makes it harder emotionally, but it doesn’t mean gluten isn’t harming you. Most specialists would consider this a case of celiac disease with a false-negative biopsy due to early healing rather than “something else,” and staying consistently gluten-free is what protects you long-term—even when your body doesn’t protest right away.

Yes, I meant if you had celiac disease but went gluten-free before screening, your results would end up false-negative. As @trents mentioned, this can also happen when a total IGA test isn't done.

I found at Disney springs and Disney they have specialist that when told about dietary restrictions they come and talk to you ,explain cross contamination measures tsken and work with you on choices. Its the one place I dont worry once I've explained I have celiac disease.  Thier gluten free options are awesome.

Have you tried Pure Encapsulations supplements? This is a brand my doctor recommends for me. I have no issues with this brand.
