Hives???

I have had hives for 6 weeks now among other symptoms and there is nothing I can think of causing them besides maybe a gluten intolerance.  My brother and father both have gluten intolerances (not Celiac) but have been gluten free for years so I am wondering if it is that. I was wondering if anyone else had hives or any type of skin reaction before diagnosis.

Megan, do you think you might have something called dermatitis herpetiformis which is a rash whose only known cause is celiac disease? Even though your brother and father don't have celiac disease it is possible you do. Have you ever been tested and if so, how long ago? celiac disease can have onset at any time of life. And it is possible you are getting gluten from some unexpected source. Recent studies indicate that most people who think they are eating gluten free are actually eating low gluten.

Most people with DH characterize them as tiny, very itchy blisters, rather than hives, but this can definitely be an indicator of celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity, especially if either runs in your family. It would be a good idea for you to get a celiac disease blood panel done, before going gluten-free.

Many years ago yes, after eating and going to bed, apparently my esophagus filled with food that my body rejected, the esophagus would lay against the Heart sack (pericardium?) and the heart would respond by becoming arrhythmic. That went away with the strict diet.

I was commenting on the report saying it did not mention migraines! Yes it does last paragraph says have not seen any evidence that Celiac cause migraines! I thought this was about truth?

It has been known for some years that celiacs suffer from migraines at a higher rate than the general populatation. It is an established symptom.
