I was so happy to find these after reading the post about how good they are and ppl loving them..well, about an hour or so after eating one I got the most incrdible stomach pain, it lasted 6 hours then calmed down to something I could handle with out tears.

Has anyone else had trouble with them??

I can't figure out what could have done it

Could it be the dates in them? Dates give some people D and major D cramping even when eaten in moderation. Are you sure it was the Lara Bar?

I personally haven't had any trouble with Lara Bars. I love them! I hope you're feeling much better by now.

yup, it was a lara bar, the chocolate coconut one..last time I had pain that bad I was glutened

I have one in front of me and the first engredient is dates, and they definitely can have a prune like effect on some people. Larabar is one of those where they are pretty hardcore about cross-contamination and I don't think they make anything with gluten in their plant.

THe other thing too, is it is raw food. The first time I ate raw food my body absolutely rebelled and I was in the bathroom for an entire afternoon. If you're not used to that much fiber all at once, it could just be that.

I didn't get D just severe pain..I know I can't eat salad and some nuts..oh well :unsure: just another food NOT to eat!

Raw veggies and nuts are probably too irritating for you. I'm sorry, Betty, I don't remember--have you been gluten-free for long? Quite possibly, if it hasn't been too long, your intestines are still healing. I had a lot of inflammation--the doctor could see it at the beginning of my intestine--he called it the antrium. It takes a while for that to heal.

patti, I'm about 3 1/2 months gluten-free...still healing I think, though I did read an article yesterday saying with celiac the healing takes about 2 months and pain will stop within a week!! I get mad when I read that stuff.

My stomach is so raw and sensitive I can't even eat read meat anymore, god I miss burgers lol

I think it took me at least 2 years before I could tolerate things like Larabars without having immense pain. They are raw and full of fiber and for someone still healing, it can be VERY hard on your poor damaged intestines. Stick to really mild foods for now... That is what I had to do. Rice, Potatoes, Baked Chicken, cooked veggies (simple ones like peas) Applesauce, Yogurt, and the only substitute product I would use was EnerG's crackers... plain. Yes it was bland and boring and yes I had to take supplements, but eventually I was able to start adding foods back in. Now I am thrilled when I can have taco night with spicy meat and taco sauce all over the tacos! (not just plain ground beef and cheese in the taco shell... oh, and it took a while before I could tolerate the corn taco shells too...

I TRIED THEM ONCE AND MY LIPS STARTED TO TINGLE AND FELT REALLY FUNNY.

GOT GASSY AND JUST DIDN'T FEEL THAT GREAT. DIDN'T EVEN FINISH IT.

If you have been consciously or unconsciously avoiding gluten because of the discomfort it produces then it is likely that your blood antibody testing for celiac disease has been rendered invalid. Valid testing requires regular consumption of generous amounts of gluten. The other strong possibility is that you have NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) which shares many of the same symptoms with celiac disease but does not have the autoimmune component and thus does not damage the small bowel lining. It is 10x mor common than celiac disease. There is currently no test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out. Some experts in the field believe it can be a precursor to the development of celiac disease. Having one or both of the primary genes for developing celiac disease does not imply that you will develop active celiac disease. It simply establishes the potential for it. About 40% of the population has the genetic potential but only about 1% develop active celiac disease.

      TTG blood test and total IGA tested on many occasions which have always remained normal, upper GI pain under my ribs since 2022. I had an endoscopy in 2023 which showed moderate gastritis. no biopsy’s were taken unfortunately. genetic test was positive for HLADQ2. extreme bloating after eating gluten, it’ll feel like I’ve got bricks in my stomach so uncomfortably full. the pain is like a dull ache under the upper left almost like a stitch feeling after a long walk. I am just wanting some advice has anyone here experienced gastritis with a gluten issue before? thank you

      "Conclusions: The urinary iodine level was significantly lower in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis, and iodine replacement may be important in preventing osteoporosis"  Body iodine status in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis Low iodine can cause thyroid problems, but Iodine deficiency will not show up in thyroid tests.  Iodine is important for healing, its job is to kill off defective and aging cells (Apoptosis). Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.

      Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶
