What?? :blink: what are you doign to your poor child? :lol: seriously, why is he eating oatmeal...did this come up before and I misssed it? highly possible... :blink:

I want to get him tested by enterolab. I don't know that he's gluten intolerant but I figured he was allergic since his eczema cleared up after I eliminated gluten and soy. The whole house is gluten free (except the baby oatmeal) and he will be raised that way. Maybe I'll just have gene testing done. The other two are already intolerant. I certainly don't want to try him on multigrain cereal. Mitch doesn't think it is a good idea either.

What is life outside of Rachelville. Unfortunately, I had to leave to take care of the kids today and cook dinner all by myself since hubby didn't get home in time. :(

Don't you feel sorry for me. :lol:

On a side note....It's too soon to tell but Seth seemed to be cranky afternoons on the 6 day oatmeal trial. He was back to his normal, happy self today. Me thinks the oatmeal is talking....but he didn't break out in eczema....maybe not enough gluten since his system had cleared it all out.

Yep, yep, yep.....Rachel got the job as Ice Cream Maker after all. :P

Celia, you are so funny...googly moogly girlfren' where are you hiding out? :P

Um, can you imagine what our fellow R-villians will think when they innocently log on tomorrow, adn see the FULL MOON madnesss.....just pages and pages of nonsense...... :wacko::wacko::wacko:

Karen is the queen of altoids...she rides a float in our parade and tosses out altoids to the crowd.

Altoids have become quite the naughty thing around here...they have caused quite a stir....on many occassions.

Altoids have become quite the naughty thing around here...they have caused quite a stir....on many occassions.

      Thank you— yes, valid and essential— The issue either doctors is that every one I have tried to talk to about this has essentially rolled their eyes and dismissed me as a hypochondriac, which gets discouraging. I believe a diagnosis would help me to be taken seriously by doctors as well as being validating, but can carry on without it. There are...

Note: "Total IGA" goes by other names as well. I will include a primer on celiac disease antibody testing which does a good job in covering the nomenclature variations connected with the various tests. Elevated IGG scores can certainly indicate celiac disease but they are more likely than elevated IGA tests to be caused by something else.

I believe a diagnosis would help me to be taken seriously by doctors as well as being validating, but can carry on without it.    There are many, probably most people in my area of my age and gender, who avoid gluten, but many just avoid it casually— eating the occasional plate of wheat pasta or a delicious-looking dessert, or baking cookies with wheat flour for gatherings.  That is not an option for me. I don’t eat other people’s cooking or go to restaurants that do not have strict cross- contamination procedures. It can be boring and lonely, and people do look at me as if I am being a bit dramatic but weeks of symptoms after a single small exposure has taught me to respect my experience.    Thank you very much for your response— sometimes I just need to hear that I am not crazy—

      You might consider asking for a referral to a RD (Registered Dietician) to help with food choices and planning a diet. Even apart from any gluten issues, you will likely find there are some foods you need to avoid because of the shorter bowel but you may also find that your system may make adjustments over time and that symptoms may improve.
