It is tough. There are only a few things I eat that don't require any prep.

And I see that you can't some of my no-prep foods, like almond butter.

Is hummus ok for you? ~1/4 of the store-bought types are ok for me. No vinegar, no citric acid, canola oil etc etc. Bah canola! What a cheapskate company, not using olive oil! It should be EVOO to taste right!

Brown Rice Tortillas. Smoked Salmon (cold smoked, like lox, so no sugar), avocados w/ red onion & dressed w/ evoo, freshly-squeezed lemon juice & a lil garlic is great. Combining all of the above wrapped in the tortilla, usually also w/ red bell pepper and using the hummus as a spread makes one faaaan-TAS-tik wrap!!! <drool> ;)

My cereal now is a puffed brown rice that really is good! Especially compared w/ the puffed millet <birdfood!!> that I ate for almost 2 yrs.

But my hazelnut milk wouldn't work for you, and I canNOT recommend soy ANYthing to ANYone anymore!! :P:)

Freezing chicken dishes works well for me, at least maximizing the one cooking session.

Next step will be to not take any antibiotics one week a month, and see if I can still stay free of symptoms.

So, it is a drag...but you eventually get used to it and you eat so MUCH healthier. Don't think of it as you losing out on something or missing out...think of it as you getting to a healthier place :-)

Insomnia update ... I woke up at 1:30, didn't get back to sleep till 7! Woke up again at 9. At least I got that valuable 7-9 sleep! :lol:

I didn't sleep well last night either but I wasn't awake for that long. :o I think I got to sleep sometime between 4 and 5.

Sorry about Chloe. Must not be fun going through a cold and a flare. :(

I thought I'd clicked reply to your post. :huh: Anyway the pumpkin seed butter is actually pretty good. Tastes vaguely like a mellow version of peanut butter. I forget the brand but it came in a black tub, it's organic and was $17 at Whole Foods. Our Wild Oats doesn't carry it.

Ok...so preparation for this LED pretty much sucks!

When the treatment involves foods...those foods have to be avoided for 52 hours before...and then for the 25 hour detox period as well. HEINOUS!!! :blink:

Since I only eat like 5 or 6 foods to begin with .....and I have to avoid half of them....I'm pretty much gonna starve the next few days!! :huh:

Either that or I'm forced to eat bad things. :rolleyes:

Its a looooong way till Sat. night.

My mom is gone and I'm on my own through the whole detox period. :(

I can empathize, reminds me of all the multiple rounds of NAET treatments I went through. All of the foods with the components that were being cleared had to be avoided for 25 hours, needless to say there was not a lot of eating going on 2 or 3 days out of the week. I ate a lot of steamed cauliflower and on occasion unenriched white rice, both basically devoid of nutrients and things that would effect the desensitizing process of NAET.

Carla, sorry about the rough night :( My colon hydrotherapist suggested we use oil of oregano in a tea, like a few drops in hot water, yuk tasting for sure, but good healing stuff. She also applied it topically to the abdomen and then a hot towel and hot water bottle over it during treatment, it would absorb in through the skin and do its thing that way too, just a little something extra hitting those beasties from every angle :lol:

Julie, I'm glad to hear you're doing better now ... how are you? You haven't talked much about what you've been doing, how you're feeling, etc.

Thanks for the tips on the oregano oil. It's so wicked, I mix it with some water, about one ounce, and take it like a shot. There's really no way to sip on it. :blink: On the stomach sounds like a good idea, too.

I'm not going to let the parasites have power over me either. :D If you have sushi or other raw fish, you have to eat the wasabi and pickled ginger, both are anti-parasitic. B)

I have a new approach. I spoke to the doctor who the dentist referred me to and they want to run some tests to determine the protocol first. After speaking to the nurse she seems to think I'm having thyroid problems, adrenal stress, possibly other hormone issues along with the heavy metal toxicity. So I'm going to see them on Monday to start the testing. I will then go back in three weeks when all test results are back to determine the treatment plan. I feel much better about this approach. She also mentioned that maybe not all of the work the dentist wanted to do would be necessary. She said that nickel would not be of concern once the mercury is out. So they have a dentist there who will to free xrays and exams so I could use their dentist who is also a mercury free dentist. Here's a link to the clinic Open Original Shared Link I haven't had a chance to look over it completely yet, but they seem be very knowledgeable in getting your body back in balance. She sent a list of tests they want to do: fasting chemistry panel, hormone 24 hour urine, adrenal stress 24 hour urine, thyroid panel serum (free t3 & free t4), thyroid antibodies, fibrinogen, highly sensitive c reactive protein, lipoprotein, EKG, heavy metal challenge & fecal heavy metal. I think this is a much better approach than my previous plan. I will know where I stand and the best way to proceed to get healthy. I have more research to do when I get home. I'm off now to take my youngest son to soccer practice. Thanks for all the great advice and information.

Ami, that sounds like a very good approach. It also sounds like you are comfortable with it, which is important as well.

Some updates on me --

I did a peak test for Amoxy to see how much is in my blood an hour after taking it ... they increased my dosage significantly.

This all seems to be working ... I'd say I'm 80%, my intestines are doing much, much better on these herbs/probiotics for the dysbiosis, and I only drop down to 50% during a herx. That's a far cry from where I was in January.

Today I was just noticing that I feel like I'm becoming more lucid ... if that makes sense. I am just now understanding all I've been through the past four years with my health. Not that I didn't know what was happening, but I had just been going through the motions ... now I see it more clearly, I think more clearly. I don't know that it's possible to say this and make sense. My brain seems to have come home.

Also, I got a prescription for Ambien today ... hopefully, Adam and I will both be able to get some sleep tonight! My insomnia keeps him up, too.

My next appt. with the Dr. (not the PA) is Sept. 11 in person.

Its actually worked out pretty well. I seem to be eating plenty of stuff. :D

I'm eating pumpkin seeds ...which I used to eat tons of 2 years ago...I normally cant eat them anymore because they seem too moldy. This time I bought some that are still in the shell and lightly roasted and I'm not noticing any moldiness. :)

Also eating tons of figs. Antiparastic but definately not antifungal....anyways...I'm not having problems so far. :D

Got some turkey and some lamb...ate some goat cheese...I can still eat my peas and potatoes. I've been eating some kind of flaxseed garlic cracker type thingy. I got some goat milk. I think I might actually survive the next 2 days. :D

I've also been taking garlic again. I havent done well with it in the past....major head symptoms. Now I've got my toxin binders and that seems to do the trick. I also dont chew it much in my mouth cuz that seems to cause more symptoms....instead I chop it up...barely chew it...and swallow it down with water. Still taking my GSE as well.

Not that anyone really wants to know this but I'm expelling the worms and things. :o

I think thats pretty much the main culprit for my chronic C problems. I think they've been setting up road blocks. :angry:

Yeah...I do remember that with NAET you have to avoid the things you were treated for. I never had to do anything like that with BioSET. Its not too much fun. :(

LED isnt so much about desensitization though....its more of a detox thing but the Dr. did say there is one aspect of it that is similar to what they do with BioSET. I'm assuming that as well as getting the body to detox this stuff....they are also trying to "reset" the immune system to not respond abnormally to the substances that are being treated.

There isnt much info. about that part of LED in any of the reading I've done.

OK....In less than 24 hours I have racheled 3 bags of figs!! I'm leaving in a few minutes to get more. :P

I like you're new plan! Sounds like a good approach and I'm all for getting as much testing as possible. :)

Dont forget about the gut and the infections though. Mercury goes hand-in-hand with the infections...especially in the GI tract....and those infections go hand-in-hand with food intolerance. These are the things that really put a heavy burden on your system and they're a big part of the adrenal fatigue so many people suffer from.

Dont know if I've posted this here yet or not (see what happens when I post on more than one board :ph34r: )....so this might be a repeat.

Mercury & Related Issues - The Domino Effect

According to Dr. Bruce Shelton, MD (H), Di.Hom, director of the Allergy Center in Phoenix, Arizona, "Mercury amalgams are as close as you can get to the center of the illness universe, their use in dentistry has set us up for most of the health problems we see today."

In his practice, Dr. Shelton frequently observes a domino effect of illness that begins with mercury toxicity.

He reports that 90% of his patients who come in with allergies have an over-growth of the yeast-like fungus, Candida Albicans. This overgrowth can be due to heavy metals in the body, principally from mercury in the teeth, continually draining in minute amounts into body tissues."

It looks like she's coming around the 15th but its not set in stone yet. They havent mailed out the letters yet...they wont start scheduling until the letters are mailed out. I called about it today. :)

I'm also scheduled to see Anna on Tuesday.

I WAS scheduled with Dr. S next Friday but they wanted me to switch to either early tomorrow or next Wednesday. None of these are doable for me cuz of work and LED....I was gonna have to cancel my appt. with him anyway. So I wont be seeing him until later on...after LED treatments...I'm gonna work with this Dr. for awhile...since he's doing Kinesiology/LED. :)

I'm doing much better, thanks for asking. My angioedema outbreaks got really bad and I developed anaphylaxis along with them. I literally felt like I was on death's door. They would really knock me down and kept me from functioning, I was in very bad shape. I couldn't take anything for them, I wasn't responding to anything, it was a nightmare. I haven't had a breakout in the last 5 or so weeks and that is a miracle.

I've been working with my acupuncturist with weekly treatments and I'm taking Chinese herbs and a few other supplements like probiotics black walnut/wormwood combo, but I am trying to focus on getting a lot of things from my foods, and yoga and meditation, things that balance.

The clouds have definitely parted for me and I am feeling great for the first time in a very long time :D

Oh, and I am completely off casein now, HUGE difference it has made in my life.

Rachel, I am so thrilled to hear you are able to eat more things. You've come a long way. Figs, my favorite.

Casein......bad stuff for lots and lots of people. I won't go back to it either......even though cheese is awfully good......it's awfully bad to eat (IMO).

I don't remember if you can eat coconut but there is a frozen treat (don't know if it's outside of OR/WA yet) that is called Coconut Bliss. YUMMY!!!! Whole Food up in Seattle WA area carries it but I don't know if the whole chain does or not. We found it at a health food store near us.

Thanks for the well-wishes. Tom, it does sound like you described on your soy-free diet. I've been feeling so good lately, I thought I'd share. I'm actually feeling the best I've felt in years ... I still say 80% because I know it will be better than this.

I still have a lot of off and on joint pain and some muscle aches in my back. That doesn't even bother me ... the fact that my brain is here on most days and that the crushing fatigue has lifted is so much more important than the aches and pains.

Rachel, very interesting stuff. Especially the information on what's living in our digestive tracts. When I was on Cipro, I REALLY started to get better. I hated to get off it! It was killing the bad bugs in my GI tract (plus it kills borrelia). The herbs are starting to work now, but it took them a few weeks. Obviously the gut has been key for me.

The one odd thing is, when I removed my amalgams and chelated years ago, my Lyme went into remission. That's odd because it's the opposite of what your quote said. I guess everyone is different.

Well, off to see how the Ambien works. :)

      Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. Also take B1,B2,B3,B5,B6.       @catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

      Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

      Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

      highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind
