Hmm, well my results haven't been unclear, I have been extremely sensitive to mold, its gotten better just the last several years enough that I could do a shot. Never could tolerate them before. Also my allergist is trained in environmental medicine and always backs the dosage off when needed. I've backed off to the lowest dose possible with what I have on hand and have written him about this.

But I think I have to consider that this might be the problem.

Well, that article is from a mold toxin website so they're talking about being toxic from mold exposure and that it's different from an allergy .... different story if you have an allergy, though if you are also toxic ... who knows?

I could very well have both. I'm not feeling that bad, so hopefully it will pass. If it is mold I'll probably get a lot worse when I go to Thailand Friday for a week.

I know I certainly felt better after stopping my allergy shots. Mold scored 10 out of 10 on the skin scratch tests every time I had them. I started reacting every time I got a shot. :(

That's the way I used to be. Out here my worst season is fall, my doctor said it was likely mold. The shots have helped a lot. So far this is my best year.

Yeah, I think that's what convinced me to stop...they actually never really did help me so when I started reacting outright to the shots themselves it just made sense to stop.

Hi lovely ladies!

Good news...It turns out Im not going to die from last weeks x-rays.

Okay... after freaking out last week, I feel better now. Mostly because the neck pain went away this week...

I still have lingering spine pain, and the muscles around my back feel strained, but its much better than before.

I think I strained my back and neck doing pull ups at the gym. No more pull ups.

I guess the x rays are normal because the doctor hasn't called me.

I have noticed that B12 and B6, help my moods a ton. I started to eat a raw diet, last week,,, well at least 60% raw, like salads, baby carrots, nuts (in mod.) some fruit like nectarines, apples, (berries are too strong) mixed fruit cups, avacado, and then a little bit of meat here and there, squash, with spagetti sauce etc, no bread no dairy, wine, artificals etc...

Well Im not that disciplined, because this lasted about 3 days. But I did notice at the 4th day before I caved I was feeling so good. I guess when Im feeling good is when I reach for something bad! So I ate a turkey sub from subway, and its escalated a bit from there. I can tell I felt better on the raw diet. So Im trying to get more raw in my diet from now on.

Off the topic...

Ive been wanting to take blood tests to see if I have clotting mechanisms in my blood are okay. Vitamin K, APA, clotting mechanisms, they are all expensive tests so I'll have to wait.

Yeah, I think that's what convinced me to stop...they actually never really did help me so when I started reacting outright to the shots themselves it just made sense to stop.

I have a really superb allergist. He titrates the dose not just based on my skin reaction but my symptoms. He'll go way way out to very tiny doses (dilutions). When I start reacting to the shot, like I did recently, he assesses the situation and then cuts the dose back appropriately. For many years he was unable to treat me to mold because even the tiniest dose made me sicker.

This year I have had sudden reactions to all five of my shots in turn as the seasons have changed. I think it is evidence of the shifts in my immune system or else is a retracing (this used to happen all the time when I started treatment).

I am still a little worried about the mold shot because I don't have a smaller dilution to switch to and I think I may still need to cut back.

I have no idea what is going on with my body now. Every day i pop out with a new bump on my body. Im not sure if its a detox or im dying. My stomach is back in pain again today. I have been in bed crying all afternoon. If my hubby didnt have to go to work, i would still be in bed.

Awww Paula....I'm sorry you're feeling bad. :(

I missed a couple pages....I'll go back later. ;)

Carla, I'm so excited for you....its only a few more days now!! I cant believe you'll be in Germany!

I'm sooooo jealous......I wanna be in Germany too! :P

Any updates on Kassandra? I hope she's doing ok...

Nothing new with me....called the voodoo lady's office today and I'm still on for the 22nd. YAY....hopefully nothing changes between now and then. :)

Still eating beef, peas and brownies.

AndreaB Contributor

I'm excited for Carla too. :)

Yay for your appointment still being on Rachel.

I don't know if I had said that I had made a mini appointment with Dr E for the end of the month. Canceling again as we don't want to strap ourselves down to where we have absolutely no wiggle room (tight enough as is). With the news of the economy and even though we wouldn't be spending as much, we'll just hold onto the funds (probable wind up going towards more chlorella though).

Thanks andrea and rachel. Im hoping to wake up tommorow feeling much better. My mom wants to do a mother/daughter day for my early birthday present.

Andrea, bummer that you cant keep the appt.....but holding onto the money right now isnt a bad idea. I'm trying to do the same....but not too good at it. The economy stuff has me kinda scared.

Paula.....last time you had mother/daughter day I think you had a really good day. Hopefully this one will be just as enjoyable. :)

The fact that you have some REALLY good days here and there kind of makes me think alot of it might have to do with your diet......in combination with other things (like the mold exposures).

You might have stuff in your diet that you're not aware is causing problems. I was very up and down (mostly down though) and pretty unstable when I had alot of foods in my diet that were causing me problems.

CarlaB Enthusiast

I'm really excited, too. :)

Rachel, I'll get to meet the better health guy while I'm there. :)

Sorry Paula.

My GI issues are still flaring when I eat. It's exactly the same as it was when I first got sick and for a while after diagnosis. There is no reason for this to be flaring. Otherwise, I am not declining. I did a lot today ... in fact, I went to Whole Foods, Kroger, Borders, and for coffee with Adam .... then I came home and cleaned the refrigerator before I put everything away. I was remembering how before one errand was all I could manage.

But then when I finally ate something, I felt horrible.

I heard from Kassandra yesterday ... she wanted to know a good hairspray ... we were talking about important stuff, not health! LOL

mftnchn Explorer

Rachel I agree with you, Paula I think diet could be why you have such dramatic ups and downs.

Carla, I keep hoping the stomach problems will pass. Are you still taking all of your probiotics? Glad you are feeling quite good other than the food problem.

Andrea, sorry about the cancellation. This is tough for you.

I may have figured out one food problem for me, I have been using some cinnamon that I realize now is very likely contaminated. Could be flour but I am guessing some kind of starch like corn or potato. You can see the white mixed in. I have some McCormick that looks totally different so I am throwing out the questionable stuff. I also think almonds are still fine for me, but it the additives on the imported ones that are a problem. I am still looking for an option. The local almonds are raw but very bitter or mixed okay plus bitter. I have to really add honey to make it palatable and I don't think that is good.

Also I think some of my problem is mold and mold detox like we've talked about. I don't have any glaring sources of mold, just am trying to cut down on dust and stuff. When I did some moving around and reorganizing my allergies flared pretty bad, so I am sure this is part of the problem. I need to get stones to put on top of the dirt in my plants (supposed to be helpful). There is a bit of musty smell in some of my cupboards, those near water. This got worse while we were gone in the summer and the house was closed up. I may try adding a light bulb in there or something.

Well I woke feeling like crap, maybe il feel better in 4 hours when she gets here lol.

Im sure it is my diet. But even when i went down to only the basic food groups, i wasnt feeling that much better. But maybe I didnt give it enough time. All I know is my stomach hurts all the time and im so tired all the time. I have been living in sweat pants and big t-shirts and i havent done that since being pg.

Yesterday i found an place that sells grass fed beef. Im thinking of going and buying some and see if that helps any. There is even an farm that raises all the cows that are grass fed like 30 miles away. Heck if i like the stuff I will go buy an whole cow.

Carla,

That is awesome about meeting the beatter health guy while in germany. I would love to met him, he seems to know so much. That is great that kassandra wantd to talk important stuff like hair spray lol.

Im wondering if the air purifiers have anything to do with how bad im feeling. Maybe they are taking out too much of the stuff out of the house.

Sorry you're still feeling bad, Paula.

Sherry, I'm still taking Theralac, which is once per week. I was taking it daily when I was on abx. I'll take some VSL#3 ... I still have two or three packets of it. I don't have D ..... just pain .... not just stomach pain either, it just wipes me out to eat. I guess I could live on berry stellas, lattes, and smoothies till I leave, LOL. Oh, as always, I can also eat potato chips with no problem. If it weren't for potato chips I think I would have died first time this happened! I'm not losing weight even with all this, so that's good.

I feel good again today .... will have to have a smoothie. :)

mftnchn Explorer

Pretty hard to make sense out of a lot of our symptoms sometimes. You've had this before though, right?

Yeah, mine did this too...they cut back whenever I had both kinds of reactions, then work up again, but I'd always react.

Sorry Paula!!! I saw that you're still feeling badly today...I hope you're able to keep your date!

Gosh Andrea, sorry you had to cancel!

Rachel, I'll get to meet the better health guy while I'm there. :)

I think you'll really like him...he's fun to talk to in person!

I feel good again today .... will have to have a smoothie. :)

Yay!!!!! And, glad that Kassandra is talking about more important stuff than health, lol!

I heard from Kassandra yesterday ... she wanted to know a good hairspray ... we were talking about important stuff, not health! LOL

haha.....hairspray is definately a priority. :D

I use Finesse....its gotta be unscented....it works really well. Its one of the few things that I was using BEFORE I got sick and didnt have to switch. Some of the other hairsprays totally kill me.

One thing I had to do without was mousse. I used to use it to "scrunch" my hair when I got out of the shower. I reacted to all of them because of the fragrances. :(

I finally found one a couple months ago that is totally unscented....I was SO excited and even MORE excited when I used it and had no reaction. YAY! :)

Rachel--24 Collaborator
Im sure it is my diet. But even when i went down to only the basic food groups, i wasnt feeling that much better.

Did you ever try cutting out the processed foods?

Tell him I said "hello"....its been awhile since I've talked to him.

Hi all !! Did anyone ever get prescribed methylprednisone steroids for inflammation of stomach and intestines?  Did it work ??  Thank you !!
    • cristiana
Hi Colleen Are you supplementing B12/having injections? I have learned recently that sometimes when you start addressing a B12 deficiency, it can temporarily make your symptoms worse.  But it is important not to stop the treatment.  Regarding your problems with anxiety, again that is another symptom of a B12 deficiency.   I didn't know what anxiety was until it hit me like a train several months before gastrointestinal issues began, so I can certainly relate.   Two books which helped me hugely were At Last A Life by Paul David (there is a website you can look up) and The Depression Cure: The Six-Step Programme to Beat Depression Without Drugs by Dr Steve Llardi.  Although his book is aimed at people who have depression, following the principals he sets out was so helpful in lessening my anxiety.  Llardi suggests we need to focus on getting enough: - physical exercise - omega-3 fatty acids - natural sunlight exposure - restorative sleep - social connectedness - meaningful, engaging activity   ... and we should feel a lot better. That is not to stay you must stop taking medication for depression or anxiety if you have been prescribed it, but adopting the changes Dr Llardi sets out in the book should really help. Can I just ask two more questions:  1) you say that you are B12 deficient, did they test your iron levels too?  If not, you really ought to be checked for deficiency and, 2) did they check your thyroid function, as an overactive thyroid can be cause rapid heartbeat and a lot of coeliacs have thyroid issues? Hello still dancing around my celiac disease and not getting medically backed up considering Ive been glutenfree since 1994.All my ailments are the core issue of my ghost disease aka celiac disease. Im angery because the "celiac specialist " basically lightly dismissed me.Im extremely angery and fighting for a new primary care physician which is hard to do in Northern Cali.So currently without and looking.Im angery that its lightly taken when its extremely serious to the one who has it.My only evidence is a brochure back in the days when I got news letters when I lived at my parents. It was published in 1998.I was diagnosed before any foods eliminated from my diet. Angery doctors don't take seriously when Im clearly speaking.I did write to the medicine of congress and have case number.

I totally get this. It's absolutely a grieving process, and it's okay to feel gutted about the loss of those simple joys, especially at 18. Your feelings are completely valid—it's not about being ungrateful for your amazing boyfriend, it's about mourning the life you thought you'd have. That "tortured by the smell" feeling is so real. It does get easier, I promise, but it's okay to sit in the sadness and just vent about how much it stings right now. Thanks for sharing that. Celiac.com has published a book on our site by Jean Duane PhD called Gluten-Centric Culture, which covers many of the social aspects of having celiac disease: This chapter in particular covers issues around eating with family and others - Gluten-Centric Culture: Chapter 5 - Grabbing A Bite Together:
