Does anyone react to Quaker Rice Cakes??

I had a great gluten-free lunch, at least I thought, until I ate two Quaker caramel-chocolate chip rice cakes, now I feel bloated, gassy, tired, and very foggy...just wondering if anyone else reacts to these...I just looked at their website and they say they cannot guarantee their products are gluten-free during processing....blah!

Quaker has had problems with cross contamination ....I do not trust them

dionnek Enthusiast

one of their flavors (I'm thinking it is the caramel choc. chip or butter toffee) DOES have gluten in the ingredients. And the CC issue.....

CarrieBoo Rookie

Thanks, I thought I read the ingredients, but guess not, thanks for the replies!!

...I will be avoiding rice cakes from now on, better yet I should avoid many processed foods!

By the way, what is cc?

My 3 year old son ate lots of the apple cinnamon mini's through out the course of a week. He was a an absolute mess. We had an awful week. I would NEVER give him these again.

I have had problems with these as well and I don't eat them anymore.

I put on over 12kg by eating protein with every meal, 3 to 5 times a day. Eggs, Chicken, Tuna, Turkey etc. I stay away from too much red meat as it can be inflammatory. Scott is correct. I've come across a bunch of Coeliac PT's on Tiktok and Instagram. They all say the same thing, the key is getting enough protein and consistency.

It's great to hear that eliminating gluten has helped alleviate symptoms like eye burning, which is a significant and positive change. The first and most important step is to ensure you're consuming enough protein throughout the day to support muscle repair and growth, which can be challenging with a busy schedule. Since you're already physically active at work, adding focused strength training just 2-3 times per week can make a major difference. Bodyweight exercises like squats, push-ups (modified if needed), and lunges, or using resistance bands at home, are excellent, efficient places to start. Remember, consistency with these short sessions and prioritizing post-workout recovery, including good sleep and hydration, are just as crucial as the workouts themselves. It's a smart, gradual process at any age.

Trader Joe's carries a good variety of affordable gluten-free foods like bagels, hamburger buns, pasta, etc. I like Franz Gluten Free bread, which is available at my local Costco. Food For Life and Little Northern Bakehouse (advertisers here) also make excellent gluten-free breads. Costco also sells gluten-free pizzas, crackers, gravy, etc.
