Celiac College Presentation

For my college biology class we have to do a powerpoint presentation and report on anything that we choose as long as it deals with science. I though doing mine on Celiac would be awesome. I was diagnosed in 1995, so it has been a huge part of my life. I want more people to know about celiac, understand what it is and how it effects those with it. I know a lot about celiac, but would love to get everybody's input. Anyone who thinks they can help, please send me anything. I'll be happy to try to send anyone the powerpoint once I finish... It is due June 14th.

I did a short presentation on it, too, for a class.

I did a presentation for Biology about Celiac Disease. A lot of people said they found it interesting since most people don't know much about Celiac. Good luck on your presentation!

I did a presentation/speech this year for college, for my Communications class.

I could always type it up if you wanna see how I did it :P

I think people would really find interesting the connections between Celiac and autism as well as schitzophrenia.

You are so right on Autism and schitsophrenia, I completely agree/ you. bully 4 you I know of a boy who started regressing soon after 1 year and a man who probably was showing signs of scitsophrenia by age 19.

I hope there will soon be more research on theses problems as well as celiac disease. evie

I got an 'A' on the celiac presentation for my bio class. Thanks for asking. I just started new summer classes and I'm going to do another presentation on Celiac next week. When I did the first presentation I asked the class (about 30 students) if anyone knew about celiac, and not to my surprise nobody had ever heard of celiac. I brought some gluten free cookies in for the students to eat and they loved them. I was only allowed 5-7 minutes but my professor was cool and let me continue for 15 minutes so I was able to get a lot of info out to the class. Although its only 30 students in my case, it feels good to know that more people know about Celiac.

Since it will be medically/biologically oriented, you might want to check out Dr. Peter Green's book, Celiac Disease: A Hidden Epidemic. It has great information that's complete, but easy to understand.

Thanks for your response.  Everything you mentioned he is and has been doing.  Tobacco is not the same as nicotine.  Nicotine, in the form of a patch, does not cause gastrointestinal irritation.  Smoking does. He is not smoking.  Please do your research before stating false information. Dr. Paul Newhouse has been doing research on nicotine the last 40 years at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Im so frustrated and still getting the run around trying to reprove my celiac disease which my past primary ignored for 25 years.I understand that theres a ray of medical that doctors are limited too but not listening and telling the patient ( me) that im not as sensitive as I think and NOT celiac!Correction Mr white coat its not what I think but for cause and affect and past test that are not sticking in my medical records.I get sick violently with foods consumed, not eating the foods will show Im fabulous. After many blood draws and going through doctors I have the HLA- DQ2 positive which I read in a study that Iran conducted that the severity in celiac is in that gene.Im glutenfree and dealing with related issues which core issue of celiac isn't addressed. My skin, right eye, left leg diagestive issues affected. I have high blood pressure because im in pain.Im waisting my time on trying to reprove that Im celiac which is not a disease I want, but unfortunately have. It  has taken over my life personally and professionally. How do I stop getting medically gaslight and get the help needed to bounce back if I ever do bounce back to normal? I thought I was in good care with " celiac specialist " but in her eyes Im good.Im NOT.Sibo positive, IBS, Chronic Fatigue just to name a few and its all related to what I like to call a ghost disease ( celiac) since doctors don't seem to take it seriously.

@Martha Mitchell, your reaction to the lens implant with gluten sounds like it could be an allergic reaction rather than a celiac reaction. It is possible for a celiac to be also allergic to gluten as it is a protein component in wheat, barley and rye.

Scott I also have different symptoms than most people. It affects me bad. Stomach ache, headache, nauseous, heart racing, whole body shaking, can't walk then my throat starts to close. It attacks my nervous system. The only thing that saves me is a 1/2 of Xanax...it calms down my nervous system
