ok i found stuff about it shoulda thought to google it i feel stupid now lol

hmmmm i dont know what the doctor this i have out of the things it treats anyone got ideas? i would say ulcer since it goes away after i eat but since there is no blood in my stools i dont think so

gah should not have read all of that i desided to look up Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and now im scared crappless, i hope i dont got that jeesus canceres tumors and crap omg...... but when i googled Zollinger-Ellison syndrome it was talking about knawging pain in upper abdomen and that is what i have ahhhhh ok i wont try to get worked up over this without having the apointment on monday first

the more i read the more i get scared, i dont know what i have i match all the symptoms for petic ulcers, zollinger ellison syndrom, and stomic cancer now im crying because i dont even see how a doctor will be able to figure it out- i just made myself really upset....... im gonna go lay down im tearing up

also from what i have read so far, taking things like prilosec can mask a problem if it happens to be a seriuse one it can make it "disapear" temporarly while secrectly its getting worse

The last thing you need now is an anxiety attack! Do you know how to do breathing for relaxation? I think you should try this; it may actually help your stomach pain. Do you know about the "stomach brain"? There is a close relationship between the nervous system & the stomach.... that may be part of your problem right now since you are under a lot of stress. If the Prilosec gets you through until Monday that's all you need from it at the moment. You should definitely see the doctor then & discuss all your symptoms & the things you fear they may indicate.

Lister Rising Star

i have the prilosec, but im not taking it until i go to the doctor anyways, it says on the package dont take if you have unexplained weight loss, and thats the whole reason the dx wants a apointment with me on monday so i figure i should wait until he figures out the weight loss

as for breathing exerisis yes i know some but they hurt me to do, whenever i exhale deep it drives my stomic crazy

queenofhearts Explorer

Just try to slow your breathing. It doesn't have to be super deep as long as the breaths are slow, it sends a neurological signal that is relaxing. It really helps me when I get very stressed out.

Good thinking on the Prilosex/weight loss... wonder why your doc recommended it though???

Lister Rising Star

no clue i wish i knew then i would not be worrying as to why :( wish i had someone to talk to but my girlfriend is at work thats why im on the bored.

queenofhearts Explorer

You'll be okay, Lister, I think a lot of your pain may be linked to anxiety. Have you talked to your doctor about this at all? I find my stomach burns when I am very anxious or upset. Not saying it's the only cause, but it makes it much worse. Then it's a vicious cycle because you worry about the pain.

lorka150 Collaborator

okay, let me get this straight. honestly, you can't just go to the emerg?

is there really a reason to? i meen yeah it hurts, but as long as i eat constantly i keep it under controle, the er is ment for people who are in seriuse condition, im still able to get up in the morning at 5 am get ready for work bike there and work all day and still be up right now. i meen i dont think the er is the answer as much as i would want to go there to try to get fast answers, but last time i went there ( for this exact reason) they took a poop test found nothing so they did a catscan found nothing and then sent me home.... so i meen its really not worth the money i would rather wait tell monday for my doc even though im going to kill myself worrying until then

lorka150 Collaborator

right. i forget that you guys have to pay. my ignorance.

queenofhearts Explorer

I've only used the ER when I was having an anaphylactic reaction, or when my kids were bleeding. Otherwise, they're not really set up for subtle diagnoses, & Lister's problem sounds like more than most could handle. So long as you don't think it's internal bleeding, & you say you don't, right?

Lister Rising Star

well i meen it to me is a possibility, but i have been having these pains since april and back in june they did a hemocult card, a poop analysis and a bactera/blood stool analysis and nothing was found so if there was internal bleeding i would think it would show up hopefully.... gah i wish i knew what was wrong with me ( and i really hope its not tumor/cancer related im 21 im to young to be looking towards the end of my life) i just want to live a normal life again :(

oh and lorka i realised that my last post could have seemed like a attack against your advice, it was not ment to be that way simply saying that the er is for emergiancys but thank you for your consern

yah i think or atleast i hope my dx will come thru on monday and find something, i meen hes a smart man afterall he is the one that though of celiac disease not me

Lister; Sorry you are having a rough time tonight. Sounds to me like you may be having gastritis which is inflammation of the stomach lining. with medication and eating bland foods it will clear up in a few weeks.

the gurgling could be from acid in you stomach or intestines. Am sure the Dr. knew about Prilosec or he would not have told you to take it. I followed thru/ with your omeprazole Url and it took me to this: If you are uninsured to call Phizer at 1-866-702-2400..also here is url www.pfizerhelpfulanswers.com this is a pharmaceutical co. and some of them do let people get meds free. It may be that other pharmaceutical co. do this too.

I too have had some of the eye problems, was hard for me to read from my computer screen yesterday pm., but maybe I had been on too long..its ok today. Also anything acidic like tomato,or fruit juices would aggravate the acid in your stomach. Also some people have sweets turn to acid after in stomach for awhile.

I t seemed that happened to me when I had gastritis quite sometime ago, there were different meds to take then and they worked but took a bit of time. Also if you can put on some music that is soothing that might help you, some like ice and some like heat for tummy pain. I you are reading this on sun. am I hope you had a good night and will feel better. :) evie

yah i really hope its just gastritis, just after reading about all those other things i got myself into a worry tissy o well i wont let myself loose sleep over it (well atleast not tonight, since i cant stop worrying and i need sleep for work i am dipping back into my herbal medicine but just for tonight- but i did good i lasted over 3 weeks without smoking any and thats coming from smoking 1gm a day to none so i dont feel guilty about it when i really need it to fall asleep without a panic attack)

thx for the advice evie

Lister, 90% of the problems you describe can be caused or aggravated my stress.

yah i really hope its just gastritis, just after reading about all those other things i got myself into a worry tissy

Stress causes more stomach acid and more stomach acid causes your symptoms and stresses you out....

Everyone gets 'worrying' things ... if its a one off its not a problem but if you stress over it you will just make the acid problems worse.

Lister Rising Star

not really stressed about it, scared is more the word but i see your point

had a side question, anyone know what it meens if your bms are the consistancy of clay like its like a clay like substance for the past 3 days now

hopefully this is my last post until the dx apointment on monday but if i start to feel down i will probably return sooner

Lister Rising Star

ugh... well i had a good day for the most part but now its about 4pm and my vision is starting to go back to a hazy state again :( stomic has kept under controle so far, no outbursts just my vision/mind feel disconnected from each other

lorka150 Collaborator

no lister, i understand you are frustrated and did not feel attacked. i wish i could help you more :)

glad you are feeling better today.

just so you know - feeling frightened can cause stress - whether it feels stressful or not.

Glad you're better today Lister. Let us know how it goes tomorrow.

"Look, I don't want any toast, and he doesn't want any toast. In fact, no one around here wants any toast. Not now, not ever. No toast!"

"How 'bout a muffin?"

"Or muffins! Or muffins! We don't like muffins around here! We want no muffins, no toast, noteacakes, no buns, baps, baguettes or bagels, no croissants, no crumpets, no pancakes, no potato cakes and no hot-cross buns and definitely no smegging flapjacks!"

"Aah, so you're a waffle man!"

"He's defective. He wants everyone to eat toast all of the time. And if you don't want to eat something like 400 rounds of toast every HOUR, he throws a major wobbler. That's what caused the accident in the first place. "

"What accident? "

"The accident involving me, the toaster, the waste disposal and a 14 pound lump-hammer. "

Lister, sorry you're still not feeling good, thought you could use a laugh.

pick up some sweet potatoes if you can & bake one for dinner - I put mine in a casserole dish & poke a hole in it with a fork, put a glass lid on the casserold dish & bake in the microwave - time depends on size of potato. If you bake two, just put the other one in the refrig, then you can slice it & heat the slices in a skillet with some butter or oil & then sprinkle some sugar on it. really good, especially when the slices get all crunchy in the butter or oil.

I am glad you are doing better today, I take a B12 everyday, you probably have a DQ1 gene. & that stomach noise is enough to make you panic, it is so weird when it does that & you can hear it & feel it.

I really think that is because you are not getting enough calories & that is part of the losing weight thing. Just remember that our bodies are tougher than you think.

wishing you a good day at the doctors tomorrow.

i eat so much food i dont see how im short on calories

are you sure? people can often be mis-guided. when i was trying hard to gain weight, i realized i wasn't even clearing 2000 a day, which is a minimum at most for me, as i was a runner, too.

have you ever tried counting for a day or two, just to see?

It might not even be calories but a single nutrient.....

Lister, with all due respect you do eat a lot of nutritionally poor quality foods like chips and stuff but you also obviously make an effort....

Why don't you do yourself a food diary.....

Since there are loads of us here who are happy and willing to help you could just set yourself up with a free blog and use that as a diary.

It would enable you to see what you are actually eating and also look for nutritional holes....

Everything positive you do will ease the stress.... the most stressful thing is feeling like you are not in control but really you are... its just the whole gluten-free thing starts off so confusing.

Lister Rising Star

desided to switch the chips in my diet for something else, figured hmm grapes are good and good for you well i guess iwas wrong.. i cant eat grapes everytime i do my stomic goes into major pain

@Jane02, I hear you about the kale and collard greens.  I don't do dairy and must eat green leafies, too, to get sufficient calcium.  I must be very careful because some calcium supplements are made from ground up crustacean shells.  When I was deficient in Vitamin D, I took high doses of Vitamin D to correct the deficiency quickly.  This is safe and nontoxic.  Vitamin D level should be above 70 nmol/L.  Lifeguards and indigenous Pacific Islanders typically have levels between 80-100 nmol/L.   Levels lower than this are based on amount needed to prevent disease like rickets and osteomalacia. We need more thiamine when we're physically ill, emotionally and mentally stressed, and if we exercise like an athlete or laborer.  We need more thiamine if we eat a diet high in simple carbohydrates.  For every 500 kcal of carbohydrates, we need 500-1000 mg more of thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  If there's insufficient thiamine the carbs get stored as fat.  Again, recommended levels set for thiamine are based on minimum amounts needed to prevent disease.  This is often not adequate for optimum health, nor sufficient for people with absorption problems such as Celiac disease.  Gluten free processed foods are not enriched with vitamins like their gluten containing counterparts.  Adding a B Complex and additional thiamine improves health for Celiacs.  Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  Thiamine helps the mitochondria in cells to function.  Thiamine interacts with each of the other B vitamins.  They are all water soluble and easily excreted if not needed. Thank you so much @knitty kitty for this insightful information! I would have never considered fractionated coconut oil to be a potential source of GI upset. I will consider all the info you shared. Very interesting about the Thiamine deficiency.  I've tracked daily averages of my intake in a nutrition software. The only nutrient I can't consistently meet from my diet is vitamin D. Calcium is a hit and miss as I rely on vegetables, dark leafy greens as a major source, for my calcium intake. I'm able to meet it when I either eat or juice a bundle of kale or collard greens daily haha. My thiamine intake is roughly 120% of my needs, although I do recognize that I may not be absorbing all of these nutrients consistently with intermittent unintentional exposures to gluten.  My vitamin A intake is roughly 900% (~6400 mcg/d) of my needs as I eat a lot of sweet potato, although since it's plant-derived vitamin A (beta-carotene) apparently it's not likely to cause toxicity.  Thanks again!
    • knitty kitty
Hello, @Jane02,  I take Naturewise D 3.  It contains olive oil.   Some Vitamin D supplements, like D Drops, are made with fractionated coconut oil which can cause digestive upsets.  Fractionated coconut oil is not the same as coconut oil used for cooking.  Fractionated coconut oil has been treated for longer shelf life, so it won't go bad in the jar, and thus may be irritating to the digestive system. I avoid supplements made with soy because many people with Celiac Disease also react to soy.  Mixed tocopherols, an ingredient in Thornes Vitamin D, may be sourced from soy oil.  Kirkland's has soy on its ingredient list. I avoid things that might contain or be exposed to crustaceans, like Metagenics says on its label.  I have a crustacean/shellfish/fish allergy.  I like Life Extension Bioactive Complete B Complex.  I take additional Thiamine B 1 in the form Benfotiamine which helps the intestines heal, Life Extension MegaBenfotiamine. Thiamine is needed to activate Vitamin D.   Low thiamine can make one feel like they are getting glutened after a meal containing lots of simple carbohydrates like white rice, or processed gluten free foods like cookies and pasta.   It's rare to have a single vitamin deficiency.  The water soluble B Complex vitamins should be supplemented together with additional Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine and Thiamine TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) to correct subclinical deficiencies that don't show up on blood tests.  These are subclinical deficiencies within organs and tissues.  Blood is a transportation system.  The body will deplete tissues and organs in order to keep a supply of thiamine in the bloodstream going to the brain and heart.   If you're low in Vitamin D, you may well be low in other fat soluble vitamins like Vitamin A and Vitamin K. Have you seen a dietician?
    • Scott Adams
I do not know this, but since they are labelled gluten-free, and are not really a product that could easily be contaminated when making them (there would be not flour in the air of such a facility, for example), I don't really see contamination as something to be concerned about for this type of product.
