I just thought of it last night. For breakfast yesterday morning I made nicole a gluten free waffle,But I forgot to use her toaster and used ours and it didn't even click. I feel so bad. If she gets sick I am going to feel even worse.

Do not be too hard on yourself! Mistakes do happen and hopefully she did not get any crumbs from your toaster.

Mistakes happen!

lets hope it was OK....

consider taping a huge warning to the non gluten-free toaster.... but better still only use gluten-free waffles...

We all make mistakes. Don't torture yourself over it. Just the fact that you feel bad shows how much you care. It was a mistake.

Its so difficult to remember everything.

A warning tape isn't a bad idea. gluten-free waffles are a even better idea, but best of all would be no cross contamination whatsoever.

We are all human and we all make mistakes.

Hi to your daughter. Hope she is well.

We all make mistakes, how is she doing? I try and label everything as gluten-free. I have "The gluten-free toaster" on my toaster.

I have the toaster separate from ours in the box,I take it out when I use it,then put it away when done. She seems fine. She has the appt with the rheumatologist tomorrow afternoon.

the only gluten free waffles wouldn't be a bad idea, except the fact that we do toast etc also.

I think after this I will remember to use her toaster.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
