Hi, Ive read online somewhere that colostrum is a good supplement to take for malabsorbtion and leaky gut issues. I bought some but Im a little wary about trying it because Im afraid Ill get a reaction. Its supposed to help heal the lining of the intestines. Has anyone used this? Ive heard great things.

I want to speed my healing time and Im interested in anything that could assist. Any advice?

Steph

Colostrum is a dairy product. Are you ok with that?

I find many references to magnesium being important for absorbing nutrients, though obviously it's not the only thing. There are a number of vegetables and fruits which are good for the digestive tract in various ways, and whole foods are better than supplements, from what I've read. Here's a site I find continuously useful: www.whfoods.com. Here's an article on that site you might find interesting: Open Original Shared Link

Steph, I am not familiar with that. My health journal notes do say to avoid dairy and corn syrup with IBS symptoms, get rid of the bacteria, melatonin improves IBS, get a lot of rest, drink good water and exercise helps move things around. :)

Hi,

I have found many supplements very beneficial, but what to take depends on what kind of symptoms you're still having that you need to address?

I used colostrom for years before I found out I couldn't have dairy. I liked it. It's supposed to be good for your immune system and your intestines.

I'm not sure you can get it where you are - but Inner Health Plus (Dairy free) has been really great for me

Basically any probiotic should be handy now and then, you don't need to take it forever - just when you feel like you need a helping hand

I take a good-quality probiotic and BCQ capsules by Vital Nutrients. Both seem to help.

They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

@JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.

This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
