Queen Jess!! we need to ask you about a certain entrance exam!! hmph... now i'm interested... i think i wanna take it :D

wait, i'm confused. how did Queen Jess become Queen??

Well, you could look into the thread to find the answer.

Jess (jestgar) became Queen on January 4 of this year.

She succeeded Tom (tom), who became King on December 3, 2007, succeeding

Amanda (blueeyedmanda), crowned on October 27, replacing

Beverly (mtndog), who became our leader on October 8, 2007.

The answer is there to be found for those brave enough to look for it.

Well...yes. But I wanted to bring up the metric system. It is actually quite a resource for comedic material. Decametres and milligrams...a scream! And, the best thing: I only weigh 60 kilograms!

Emily, you need to move to the UK, where you would weigh only 9.5 stones! I weigh only 13 stones myself.

For those of you wondering, the stone is a unit of weight used in the United Kingdom, mostly for the weight of people. It is 14 pounds, or 6.36 kilograms.

Where to start. I had to force myself to stop checking in to monitor the hilarity. No thanks to any of you, I DID get my kitchen clean today. But then my husband came through and totaled the whole joint. Guess I'll have to start over on the kitchen and the silliness tomorrow.

1. Do humans have anal glands?

2. Would it generally be considered a positive experience if one is teabagged by a friend? How about a stranger?

3. In the space provided, draw a flowchart depicting the process of yeti inseam measurement.

I'm not sure, but I think the answers to 1 and 2 are "nice girls never tell." I can draw a mean flowchart with lots of decision points and data storage devices, but that is not nearly silly enough. I do know the airspeed velocty of an unladen swallow, and can recite the theme song to Gilligan's Island by heart. Any chance I could get extra credit for those? I hope there is a secret handshake that goes along with this sillyville nonsense. A handshake that is not accompanies by a teabag, thank you very much.

Babinsky is a nickname and I am several decades removed from teenagedom...but I was quite cute....darn these wrinkles

Donna, you just keep hanging about with us girls on the makeup thread. We think you are smashingly beautiful. A real fox. The people over here only like you for your silliness. We like you for things that are more superficial than that. That's what's great about us. :)

colleen, i insist you post a picture of richard as soon as his makeover's done. ooh, and if someone happens to take a picture of the courier, that will also suffice :D oh even better!! we would like a constant flow of pictures of the makeover-in-progress

I have come to the conclusion that we are going to make money charging for the makeover photos than we would for the ransom. We will be auctioning them off for, say, $500.00 each. Or you could just buy us some really purty makeup. And none of that Wet-n-wild crap either. We want the real high end stuff like the girls on the Jerry Springer show wear.

GAH! The Magic Triangle, now a Magic Refresher...These buttons can transform our lives!...I just wish I could hit "insert special item" and into my life would suddenly appear a new car...Or how about "show all?" No! Do NOT want that one...

What about.....at a boring meeting with your son's teacher???.......hit ESCAPE... ...or crap day...everything going awry??...hit DELETE (start again).......RESTART is also good for crap days

<Plus, I tried F5 and it didn't work. Will require more magic than F5>

Me too ...it said..''LINES TOO DEEP''

We lost no urchins scouts in the process . . . will have to try harder next time.

Were they sea urchins???? .... ....try harder you MUST....take a hip flask next time

I do know the airspeed velocty of an unladen swallow, and can recite the theme song to Gilligan's Island by heart. Any chance I could get extra credit for those?

Maybe?....I imagine those skills are very useful in everyday life

And none of that Wet-n-wild crap either.

No idea what that is ....but I'm gonna say that to my hubby tonight ;):lol::lol::lol:

Our True Oracle...from every section of life, Peter knows the answer...

:lol::lol:

I do know the airspeed velocty of an unladen swallow, and can recite the theme song to Gilligan's Island by heart. Any chance I could get extra credit for those?

Absolutely. I believe there is a section for just such an opportunity to demonstrate one's own personal silliness quota... :D

Tryin' to muster up the silliness, guys...not a simple feat, today, I'm afraid. I'm worried for my DD. She and DH headed down to the big hockey tourney on Friday.

They won their first two games Saturday morning, and they had a third game last night, which they lost 4-2. This team was apparently very aggressive, lots of penalties....anyway, during the last minute of the game, one of their forwards shot on Sophie, she made the save, then it rebounded out and this player charged her, and in pursuit of the puck, smashed her into the net where she then sort of lay in a crumpled heap. Anyways, long story longer, they are wondering about a concussion and DH was going to be waking her up through the night. Sophie told me that she had a headache and felt exhausted. Don't like this. And I hate not being with her!

Soooo.......just waiting to hear this morning. Carry on, sillies... It's Sunday...hope your silly reset button's been hit, Tom. :)

I think if I took some illicit substances I might be OK with them, but stone cold sober they are just weird.

I think she's okay. I'm keeping an eye on her. Gad, all you need is your little 'un to be far away and hurt, and the silly just vanishes...

But I'm okay, now, and thanks, guys... :)

John and I are sitting here watching Parking Wars on A&E, boy this is a funny show!

We are leaving for the grocery store in a little bit. I am thinking Taco's for dinner. I hear it is very chilly out there....

OMG update too! Best sleep I had in a long time last night. I bought a side sleeper pillow from Bed Bath and Beyond which was great. I also got this little neck thing you put in the microwave and it has lavender and chamomille in it....and that relaxes you. Not only did I sleep in my bed, but I did not wake up a million times, woke up rested and didn't need help to get to sleep. It was wonderful!

Well that's certainly a relief! Just as a heads up, after I got a concussion playing soccer I felt headachey/queasy for a week or so afterwards when I exerted myself too much in games and practices. Just wanted to let you know that it might be expected that she doesn't feel well while playing hockey for a short while.

1.Yes, humans do have anal glands....some are just one big anal gland

2.I would consider it an honor to be teabagged by anyone.....just love attention of any kind

3.The yeti has been moving around far too much for me to get accurate inseam measurements and feel it is better for all to wait on the flowchart.

I cannot sing Guilligan's Island song all the way through but have been stopped many time through my life and asked for an autograph....I seem to resemble Marianne on that show....go figure, I couldn't be the sexy one, Ginger! Please let me know if I pass...would love to hang around a while B)

Thanks again for the detailed explanation. Just to clarify, I actually did have my initial tests done while I was still consuming gluten. I stopped eating gluten only after those tests were completed, and it has now been about 70 days since I went gluten-free. I understand the limitations around diagnosing NCGS and the importance of antibody testing and biopsy for celiac disease. Unfortunately, where I live, access to comprehensive testing (including total IgA and endoscopy with biopsy) is limited, which makes things more complicated. Your explanation about small-bowel damage, nutrient absorption, and iron-deficiency anemia still aligns closely with my history, and it’s been very helpful in understanding what may be going on. I don't wanna get Endoscopy and I can't start eating Gluten again because it's hurt really with severe diarrhea.  I appreciate you taking the time to share such detailed and informative guidance. Thank you so much for this detailed and thoughtful response. I really appreciate you pointing out the relationship between anemia and antibody patterns, and how the high DGP IgG still supports celiac disease in my case. A gluten challenge isn’t something I feel safe attempting due to how severe my reactions were, so your suggestion about genetic testing makes a lot of sense. I’ll look into whether HLA testing is available where I live and discuss it with my doctor. I also appreciate you mentioning gastrointestinal beriberi and thiamine deficiency. This isn’t something any of my doctors have discussed with me, and given my symptoms and nutritional history, it’s definitely worth raising with them. I’ll also ask about correcting deficiencies more comprehensively, including B vitamins alongside iron. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and taking the time to help. I’ll update the forum as I make progress.
    • knitty kitty
Blood tests for thiamine are unreliable.  The nutrients from your food get absorbed into the bloodstream and travel around the body.  So, a steak dinner can falsely raise thiamine blood levels in the following days.  Besides, thiamine is utilized inside cells where stores of thiamine are impossible to measure. A better test to ask for is the Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test.  But even that test has been questioned as to accuracy.  It is expensive and takes time to do.   Because of the discrepancies with thiamine tests and urgency with correcting thiamine deficiency, the World Health Organization recommends giving thiamine for several weeks and looking for health improvement.  Thiamine is water soluble, safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Many doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition and deficiency symptoms, and may not be familiar with how often they occur in Celiac disease.  B12 and Vitamin D can be stored for as long as a year in the liver, so not having deficiencies in these two vitamins is not a good indicator of the status of the other seven water soluble B vitamins.  It is possible to have deficiency symptoms BEFORE there's changes in the blood levels.   Ask your doctor about Benfotiamine, a form of thiamine that is better absorbed than Thiamine Mononitrate.  Thiamine Mononitrate is used in many vitamins because it is shelf-stable, a form of thiamine that won't break down sitting around on a store shelf.  This form is difficult for the body to turn into a usable form.  Only thirty percent is absorbed in the intestine, and less is actually used.   Thiamine interacts with all of the other B vitamins, so they should all be supplemented together.  Magnesium is needed to make life sustaining enzymes with thiamine, so a magnesium supplement should be added if magnesium levels are low.   Thiamine is water soluble, safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  There's no harm in trying.
    • lizzie42
Neither of them were anemic 6 months after the Celiac diagnosis. His other vitamin levels (d, B12) were never low. My daughters levels were normal after the first 6 months. Is the thiamine test just called thiamine?
    • knitty kitty
Yes, I do think they need a Thiamine supplement at least. Especially since they eat red meat only occasionally. Most fruits and vegetables are not good sources of Thiamine.  Legumes (beans) do contain thiamine.  Fruits and veggies do have some of the other B vitamins, but thiamine B 1 and  Cobalamine B12 are mostly found in meats.  Meat, especially organ meats like liver, are the best sources of Thiamine, B12, and the six other B vitamins and important minerals like iron.   Thiamine has antibacterial and antiviral properties.  Thiamine is important to our immune systems.  We need more thiamine when we're physically ill or injured, when we're under stress emotionally, and when we exercise, especially outside in hot weather.  We need thiamine and other B vitamins like Niacin B 3 to keep our gastrointestinal tract healthy.  We can't store thiamine for very long.  We can get low in thiamine within three days.  Symptoms can appear suddenly when a high carbohydrate diet is consumed.  (Rice and beans are high in carbohydrates.)  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so symptoms can wax and wane depending on what one eats.  The earliest symptoms like fatigue and anxiety are easily contributed to other things or life events and dismissed.   Correcting nutritional deficiencies needs to be done quickly, especially in children, so their growth isn't stunted.  Nutritional deficiencies can affect intelligence.  Vitamin D deficiency can cause short stature and poor bone formation.   Is your son taking anything for the anemia?  Is the anemia caused by B12 or iron deficiency?
    • lizzie42
Thank you! That's helpful. My kids eat very little processed food. Tons of fruit, vegetables, cheese, eggs and occasional red meat. We do a lot of rice and bean bowls, stir fry, etc.  Do you think with all the fruits and vegetables they need a vitamin supplement? I feel like their diet is pretty healthy and balanced with very limited processed food. The only processed food they eat regularly is a bowl of Cheerios here and there.  Could shaking legs be a symptom of just a one-time gluten exposure? I guess there's no way to know for sure if they're getting absolutely zero exposure because they do go to school a couple times a week. We do homeschool but my son does a shared school 2x a week and my daughter does a morning Pre-K 3 x a week.  At home our entire house is strictly gluten free and it is extremely rare for us to eat out. If we eat at someone else's house I usually just bring their food. When we have play dates we bring all the snacks, etc. I try to be really careful since they're still growing. They also, of course, catch kids viruses all the time so I  want to make sure I know whether they're just sick or they've had gluten. It can be pretty confusing when they're pretty young to even be explaining their symptoms!
