GAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! ( or "wackl" to some) I canNOT KEEP UP!!!!!!

Now, Ptaum... No mathlete, here, but I do realize that when I write post #6445, it will be a one-time match, and therefore rather special.

So very sorry, miss grammar poohbah, but there's a beautiful simple elegance (actual math term) to singularities in theoretical physics and advanced math which simply cannot be appreciated by all. (oh sh!t I'm gittin' all uppity)

...I've got April 26th circled, with "2000...take cover"....scrawled in red.

Sounds like one of the titles on those videos I used to find all those years ago, hidden under my big brother's bed....

Wahhhhhhhh :( Em's making me feel old. Make 'er STOP!

VCRs didn't exist when I was that age. :(

Mygawd......you guys are really ON today......just had SEVERAL snorting guffaws over the last two pages.....good thing I wasn't sipping absinthe as it woulda gone through my nose and I do not think that would feel right.......

Oh good so it's not just me!!! I'm laughing so much I wondered if it was the absinthe!

Just a jigger, mind you, and I've gone back to coffee now. (Mmmmmmmm wah-HOCK-in!!!!)

TOM - - your av    TELL ME that was a pose......he did NOT pass out near the toilet.......good gawd.............

I KNOW you know the answer to this.

And I KNOW you know I KNOW you knew when you wrote it. <whaaaaaaat??>

(It must be the absinthe now .. .."know" looks like "ka-now")

Roomie started inviting the GrOeen Phaerie into our lives well before sundown that day. I waited.

At some point I noticed I hadn't seen him in an hour or so. (Yeah  .. ..took a while)

This was hrs before the pic. Found him sitting on a lid-down toilet then, verrrrrrrry groggily concious. <holy moly I can't spell at all suddenly . .is that right?>

Maybe an hour later he's still not out so I brought him a big glass o' icewater. <he'd do the same for me> And he's still atop the lid-down toilet.

aNOTHer hr or so later I'm compelled to do a 'welfare check'. THAT's when the pic was taken.

Did the show'n'tell the next day and he laughed and said he'd wondered how/when he got up for the water.

. .. . . This one's a KEEPER, there is no question in my mind. He was actually - - if I may be so bold in saying this - CUSTOM-MADE for me by God.

Yes you may be that bold. :)

But I'm even MORE askeert that he just bought a motorcycle. :( I am terrified of them, and now am filled with worry when he drives it......we MUST say collective silly prayers and ask that it be........stolen?

No need to pretend to be subtle, darlin'. PM me where it'll be Fri afternoon.

<nudge-nudge wink-wink saynomore-saynomore>

OMG - truer words could not be spoken than Julie's above. Crikey, skiJorking IS phunnier, and therefore we will keep it,

Oh you silly dingo it's not the J that's in question!!:P

TOM!!!!!! the FLUIDS don't have to happen EXACTLY on the day of the zero number posts...they happen AROUND that time....day before, day after, or day of. Pleez. everyone knows this.

Oops I knew this.

But I thought the prior fluidosities (fluidations?) were all POST-post

(It does make sense I swear)

. .. . NOT the hellish math talk....

That one is known as the fencepost problem.

HEYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!

Tour of California blows thru town tomorrow. They're saying it's already second biggest, after Tour de France, and it's only in its 3rd year? Is this possible?

Do we KNOW anybody in the race??

I'll probably hafta go have a look-see since they'll be only 3 or buildings over.

P.S. Don't fret Amanda, you'll be knocked-up w/ twins by summer. ;)

I do recall a plethora of "Dammit Janet"s in Rocky Horror, but the "I love you" makes it inconclusive for me.

[Edit: oops I'll go w/ Janet's certainty on this one]

Sounds like he was tapping the bottle...lol

Good Morning Sillies!

It's Hump Day! Only 2 more days until the weekend and only 2 weeks or so until Daylight Savings Time!!!! Longer days are ahead!!!!!

We are supposed to get some snow today as well, maybe 2 inches.

Morning, Sillies!

So Peter, when you get back, Michelle will likely be over the finish line, and in THIRD PLACE!! (fingers double-crossed, here). It's about twelve hours from the last checkpoint to Whitehorse. Apparently, the big money is in the top three finishes, and then drops significantly, but the first six, I believe, win money. So that girl MUST take over Dinky Dalton.

I think I may have pink eye. It's all goopy and running and red.

Hi, Alex!

Oh, no, not something else? Pink eye is running (pun intended) rampant through DS's school. I remember hearing that it seems to apear and spread through society in February and March. So! We're right on schedule...

Alex!! I didn't check....are you about to make a big flipover? Eye fluids count, big time....

That's because she found this video of Open Original Shared LinkMOO HOO AH HA HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG......:lol: Auntie Beaverly, where do you find these clips? How do you know what to put in the search box? East Asian Kink? Chinese Bum-Spanking Fetish?:o

Hey!! Mr, Mathie Man!....I'll just have you know that there is no "simple elegance" like that found in perfect alliteration, or lilting sonnets in iambic pentametre, or substantives neatly completing their predicates....:lol::rolleyes:<_<

Wahhhhhhhh :( Em's making me feel old. Make 'er STOP!

VCRs didn't exist when I was that age. :(

Ha! Just realized something, and I'll actually admit it....I, too, wasn't a young child when VCRs were household items. It was naughty magazines under his bed....

Oops I knew this.

Heyy!!! Thank gawd, something to take over the absolutely addictive thrills of the Quest! I felt I'd be lost when it was over, as it's another three months until the Triple Crown, and those are only a couple of minutes long... Point me to the website!

I swear Janet, you're so efficiently ON today. I crack up at nearly every sentence.

This line also now makes a lot more sense . . .

(Psssssst!!! Janet!! (No one else look

Didn't we talk about darn tootin' /210 on this very thread months ago, as you approached post 500's captionability horizon?

I told you I've spent too much time on that website:

From the 2008 Rules:

10. Prize Money (U.S. Currency):

Following is the breakdown of prize money. Mushers finishing 16th through 30th will receive $1,000.

1. $35,000 4. $16,500 7. $11,000 10. $7,000 13. $5,000

2. $25,000 5. $14,500 8. $9,000 11. $6,500 14. $4,500

3. $20,000 6. $13,000 9. $8,000 12. $6,000 15. $4,000

And FYI, the entry fee (plus some other fees) was $1250 . . . Then add all your transportation and food costs . . . and if you drop dogs and have them transported for you, that costs money, too . . .

I have read fermented foods like sauerkraut, pickles, Kefir, Kombucha are great for gut health besides probiotics. However I have searched and read about ones that were tested (Kefir, Kombucha) and there is no clear one that is very helpful. Has anyone take Kefir, Kombucha and noticed a difference in gut health? I read one is lactose free but when tested was high in lactose so I would probably try a non dairy one. Thanks
    • SamAlvi
Thanks again for the detailed explanation. Just to clarify, I actually did have my initial tests done while I was still consuming gluten. I stopped eating gluten only after those tests were completed, and it has now been about 70 days since I went gluten-free. I understand the limitations around diagnosing NCGS and the importance of antibody testing and biopsy for celiac disease. Unfortunately, where I live, access to comprehensive testing (including total IgA and endoscopy with biopsy) is limited, which makes things more complicated. Your explanation about small-bowel damage, nutrient absorption, and iron-deficiency anemia still aligns closely with my history, and it’s been very helpful in understanding what may be going on. I don't wanna get Endoscopy and I can't start eating Gluten again because it's hurt really with severe diarrhea.  I appreciate you taking the time to share such detailed and informative guidance. Thank you so much for this detailed and thoughtful response. I really appreciate you pointing out the relationship between anemia and antibody patterns, and how the high DGP IgG still supports celiac disease in my case. A gluten challenge isn’t something I feel safe attempting due to how severe my reactions were, so your suggestion about genetic testing makes a lot of sense. I’ll look into whether HLA testing is available where I live and discuss it with my doctor. I also appreciate you mentioning gastrointestinal beriberi and thiamine deficiency. This isn’t something any of my doctors have discussed with me, and given my symptoms and nutritional history, it’s definitely worth raising with them. I’ll also ask about correcting deficiencies more comprehensively, including B vitamins alongside iron. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and taking the time to help. I’ll update the forum as I make progress.
    • knitty kitty
Blood tests for thiamine are unreliable.  The nutrients from your food get absorbed into the bloodstream and travel around the body.  So, a steak dinner can falsely raise thiamine blood levels in the following days.  Besides, thiamine is utilized inside cells where stores of thiamine are impossible to measure. A better test to ask for is the Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test.  But even that test has been questioned as to accuracy.  It is expensive and takes time to do.   Because of the discrepancies with thiamine tests and urgency with correcting thiamine deficiency, the World Health Organization recommends giving thiamine for several weeks and looking for health improvement.  Thiamine is water soluble, safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Many doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition and deficiency symptoms, and may not be familiar with how often they occur in Celiac disease.  B12 and Vitamin D can be stored for as long as a year in the liver, so not having deficiencies in these two vitamins is not a good indicator of the status of the other seven water soluble B vitamins.  It is possible to have deficiency symptoms BEFORE there's changes in the blood levels.   Ask your doctor about Benfotiamine, a form of thiamine that is better absorbed than Thiamine Mononitrate.  Thiamine Mononitrate is used in many vitamins because it is shelf-stable, a form of thiamine that won't break down sitting around on a store shelf.  This form is difficult for the body to turn into a usable form.  Only thirty percent is absorbed in the intestine, and less is actually used.   Thiamine interacts with all of the other B vitamins, so they should all be supplemented together.  Magnesium is needed to make life sustaining enzymes with thiamine, so a magnesium supplement should be added if magnesium levels are low.   Thiamine is water soluble, safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  There's no harm in trying.
    • lizzie42
Neither of them were anemic 6 months after the Celiac diagnosis. His other vitamin levels (d, B12) were never low. My daughters levels were normal after the first 6 months. Is the thiamine test just called thiamine?
    • knitty kitty
Yes, I do think they need a Thiamine supplement at least. Especially since they eat red meat only occasionally. Most fruits and vegetables are not good sources of Thiamine.  Legumes (beans) do contain thiamine.  Fruits and veggies do have some of the other B vitamins, but thiamine B 1 and  Cobalamine B12 are mostly found in meats.  Meat, especially organ meats like liver, are the best sources of Thiamine, B12, and the six other B vitamins and important minerals like iron.   Thiamine has antibacterial and antiviral properties.  Thiamine is important to our immune systems.  We need more thiamine when we're physically ill or injured, when we're under stress emotionally, and when we exercise, especially outside in hot weather.  We need thiamine and other B vitamins like Niacin B 3 to keep our gastrointestinal tract healthy.  We can't store thiamine for very long.  We can get low in thiamine within three days.  Symptoms can appear suddenly when a high carbohydrate diet is consumed.  (Rice and beans are high in carbohydrates.)  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so symptoms can wax and wane depending on what one eats.  The earliest symptoms like fatigue and anxiety are easily contributed to other things or life events and dismissed.   Correcting nutritional deficiencies needs to be done quickly, especially in children, so their growth isn't stunted.  Nutritional deficiencies can affect intelligence.  Vitamin D deficiency can cause short stature and poor bone formation.   Is your son taking anything for the anemia?  Is the anemia caused by B12 or iron deficiency?
