SILLIES!!!!!!!!! so quiet in here this morning!!! Where ARE all of you? Found myself reading the last two pages alone......very eery.....hold me.....

I think I may have pink eye. It's all goopy and running and red. I am a basket of bacteria! Good thing Ryan has a superhuman immune system. In the last year I've been coughing, sneezing, puking, excessively pooping in vicinity and nary an illness on his part. All my immune system does is attack my intestine and pancreas - I'm jealous ! Lets hope any kids we have inherit his smart immune system and not my confused one.

Alex - this is heinous! Hope you're so much better soon. Yes, we must pray that the kids will have Ryan's healthy immunity. :)

Keeping fingers crossed for babies for A. and motorcycle disappearing for S.

Anything else?

  Go Laura!!!!!!!!!!!!

there's news on the motorcycle, as of last night!!!!!!!!! and it could be good, my friends......get this: the annual insurance amount costs ALMOST as much as the flippin' bike, David found out......he decided that was too heinous..............so we will see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(It must be the absinthe now .. .."know" looks like "ka-now")

Roomie started inviting the GrOeen Phaerie into our lives well before sundown that day. I waited.

At some point I noticed I hadn't seen him in an hour or so. (Yeah .. ..took a while)

This was hrs before the pic. Found him sitting on a lid-down toilet then, verrrrrrrry groggily concious. <holy moly I can't spell at all suddenly . .is that right?>

Maybe an hour later he's still not out so I brought him a big glass o' icewater. <he'd do the same for me> And he's still atop the lid-down toilet.

aNOTHer hr or so later I'm compelled to do a 'welfare check'. THAT's when the pic was taken.

Did the show'n'tell the next day and he laughed and said he'd wondered how/when he got up for the water.

 now THIS had me guffawing out loud........can't believe the power of the phaerie....does John do that on beer and other alcoholic beverages also? or just the absinthe? Tom - send some ASAP

BTw - speaking of Rocky Horror -

I believe I am the ONLY person who has never seen TRHPS.......everyone went in high school to a midnight showing, all the time.....I never, not once, went to it....

WHO THE HELL IS SQUATS?????!!!!:huh:

OMG, get home from work, all these NEW things....owwwwwww, my little braaaaaiiiinnnnn....

I now feel weird following up with all the quotes I've stacked....now nothing's gonna register wif anybody, now that this big new person is here....WHO ARE YOU???:lol:

I told you I've spent too much time on that website:

From the 2008 Rules:

10. Prize Money (U.S. Currency):

Following is the breakdown of prize money. Mushers finishing 16th through 30th will receive $1,000.

1. $35,000 4. $16,500 7. $11,000 10. $7,000 13. $5,000

2. $25,000 5. $14,500 8. $9,000 11. $6,500 14. $4,500

3. $20,000 6. $13,000 9. $8,000 12. $6,000 15. $4,000

And FYI, the entry fee (plus some other fees) was $1250 . . . Then add all your transportation and food costs . . . and if you drop dogs and have them transported for you, that costs money, too . . .

:lol: Thanks, Janet!! Figured it was on the site somewhere....

The amount changes somewhat year to year, and last year Michelle came in sixth, and apparently she broke even. Gawd.......

Is daylight saving time really only a couple weeks away? I can't get used to it happening so early....not complaining, though ;)

Yes, this will be good....and there will be daylight in Whitehorse until 2 pm, instead of 1 pm. <_<:o

Hi all. Too grouchy to be silly. Just saying hi to update my avatar :)

Hey! Whatsamadda, Jess? We were just talking MATHS a page ago, too....you must be very grouchy.......

Oh yes, tell Prince Philip I said "Hello" and that I really enjoyed playing Pictionary with the royal family the last time I was in town. Oh . . . and tell him that I got the Queen's voicemail message and I just haven't had time to call back.

Man, those Royals cannot do Pictionary. Charles draws a stick guy, then sits back and expects you to keep guessing until you get it. And the word is "American". I mean, come on........

there's news on the motorcycle, as of last night!!!!!!!!! and it could be good, my friends......get this: the annual insurance amount costs ALMOST as much as the flippin' bike, David found out......he decided that was too heinous..............so we will see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Insurance premiums are, indeed, very high on those vehicles....as they are dangerous, and a big risk......Not making ya feel any better, am I?! <_<

That should scare him off!!!

she said CROUCHY!!!!!!! is that like CROTCHY?

No....crouchy is an adjective to describe the muscle fatique one experiences when visiting too many public bathrooms in a day....."Man, I hovered a lot, today...my hamstrings are sooooo crouchy!"

Okay, now...hopefully enough posts have happened since I started to tell me WHO SQUATS IS!!!

Sillies I have got to tell you my bad thing I did last night.

So John has been staying in our guest room since he is still having a hard time breathing at night. Well sometimes I do wake up and need a drink overnight. Last night I woke up around 3. Now since being sick, the cat has been dividing nights between John and I. Last night I guess it was my night with him. He spent most of the night in bed or on the floor by where my head would be on the bed. 3 in the morning I get up and the cat is next to me, I go to the bathroom, which is in our room. The cat comes in and sits on my feet. I wear contacts and when they are out I cannot see a thing...but since he is a dark colored cat I just watch for the dark blob to move lol. So from there I go to the kitchen. He follows, which is not unusual, he probably thought I would feed him....which I would not since we are trying to cut back on him a little bit. I grab a drink and then I had a craving....for candy. I grabbed my bag of mini-eggs and then went back to the room....Lucky at my heels. He got back into bed with me and watched me eat a lot of those little eggs...then he put his paw on the bag so I had to stop. I put the bag in the nightstand and went to bed. The cats eyes would glow every few seconds....which is creepy....I woke up this morning and he was still in bed. I started getting ready and it was the usual..follow mommy whereever she goes...

So that was my late night egg snack!!! I am bad!

Ok....so now dont get grossed out, I just need to rant for a few minutes!!! So I had to schedule my annual ladies exam today. I am not due quite yet but I have been having some pains in the area over the last month or so and some of you may remember my post about the tampons. Well, I want to get checked out just in case, especially with us trying the family thing.

So I called the womans health center where I work, I had my last exam done through the fertility clinic. It was during my egg donation. SO they said they were scheduling me with the woman who did all my exams then. I was happy, this woman knows me and I am comfortable with her. I cannot get into the clinic until April....Yikes! So I asked for another provider....nope nothing until April...I told them I am having some discomfort in that region....nothing until April. No cancellation lists nothing...Ugh.

So I took the appointment. I know the woman who performs the exams and we are still in contact since the whole egg thing. I might email and ask if she could squeeze me in or something.

My overall opinion right now....this hospital will make me wait until my hmm_hmm falls off!

I have read fermented foods like sauerkraut, pickles, Kefir, Kombucha are great for gut health besides probiotics. However I have searched and read about ones that were tested (Kefir, Kombucha) and there is no clear one that is very helpful. Has anyone take Kefir, Kombucha and noticed a difference in gut health? I read one is lactose free but when tested was high in lactose so I would probably try a non dairy one. Thanks
    • SamAlvi
Thanks again for the detailed explanation. Just to clarify, I actually did have my initial tests done while I was still consuming gluten. I stopped eating gluten only after those tests were completed, and it has now been about 70 days since I went gluten-free. I understand the limitations around diagnosing NCGS and the importance of antibody testing and biopsy for celiac disease. Unfortunately, where I live, access to comprehensive testing (including total IgA and endoscopy with biopsy) is limited, which makes things more complicated. Your explanation about small-bowel damage, nutrient absorption, and iron-deficiency anemia still aligns closely with my history, and it’s been very helpful in understanding what may be going on. I don't wanna get Endoscopy and I can't start eating Gluten again because it's hurt really with severe diarrhea.  I appreciate you taking the time to share such detailed and informative guidance. Thank you so much for this detailed and thoughtful response. I really appreciate you pointing out the relationship between anemia and antibody patterns, and how the high DGP IgG still supports celiac disease in my case. A gluten challenge isn’t something I feel safe attempting due to how severe my reactions were, so your suggestion about genetic testing makes a lot of sense. I’ll look into whether HLA testing is available where I live and discuss it with my doctor. I also appreciate you mentioning gastrointestinal beriberi and thiamine deficiency. This isn’t something any of my doctors have discussed with me, and given my symptoms and nutritional history, it’s definitely worth raising with them. I’ll also ask about correcting deficiencies more comprehensively, including B vitamins alongside iron. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and taking the time to help. I’ll update the forum as I make progress.
    • knitty kitty
Blood tests for thiamine are unreliable.  The nutrients from your food get absorbed into the bloodstream and travel around the body.  So, a steak dinner can falsely raise thiamine blood levels in the following days.  Besides, thiamine is utilized inside cells where stores of thiamine are impossible to measure. A better test to ask for is the Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test.  But even that test has been questioned as to accuracy.  It is expensive and takes time to do.   Because of the discrepancies with thiamine tests and urgency with correcting thiamine deficiency, the World Health Organization recommends giving thiamine for several weeks and looking for health improvement.  Thiamine is water soluble, safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Many doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition and deficiency symptoms, and may not be familiar with how often they occur in Celiac disease.  B12 and Vitamin D can be stored for as long as a year in the liver, so not having deficiencies in these two vitamins is not a good indicator of the status of the other seven water soluble B vitamins.  It is possible to have deficiency symptoms BEFORE there's changes in the blood levels.   Ask your doctor about Benfotiamine, a form of thiamine that is better absorbed than Thiamine Mononitrate.  Thiamine Mononitrate is used in many vitamins because it is shelf-stable, a form of thiamine that won't break down sitting around on a store shelf.  This form is difficult for the body to turn into a usable form.  Only thirty percent is absorbed in the intestine, and less is actually used.   Thiamine interacts with all of the other B vitamins, so they should all be supplemented together.  Magnesium is needed to make life sustaining enzymes with thiamine, so a magnesium supplement should be added if magnesium levels are low.   Thiamine is water soluble, safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  There's no harm in trying.
    • lizzie42
Neither of them were anemic 6 months after the Celiac diagnosis. His other vitamin levels (d, B12) were never low. My daughters levels were normal after the first 6 months. Is the thiamine test just called thiamine?

Yes, I do think they need a Thiamine supplement at least. Especially since they eat red meat only occasionally. Most fruits and vegetables are not good sources of Thiamine.  Legumes (beans) do contain thiamine.  Fruits and veggies do have some of the other B vitamins, but thiamine B 1 and  Cobalamine B12 are mostly found in meats.  Meat, especially organ meats like liver, are the best sources of Thiamine, B12, and the six other B vitamins and important minerals like iron.   Thiamine has antibacterial and antiviral properties.  Thiamine is important to our immune systems.  We need more thiamine when we're physically ill or injured, when we're under stress emotionally, and when we exercise, especially outside in hot weather.  We need thiamine and other B vitamins like Niacin B 3 to keep our gastrointestinal tract healthy.  We can't store thiamine for very long.  We can get low in thiamine within three days.  Symptoms can appear suddenly when a high carbohydrate diet is consumed.  (Rice and beans are high in carbohydrates.)  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so symptoms can wax and wane depending on what one eats.  The earliest symptoms like fatigue and anxiety are easily contributed to other things or life events and dismissed.   Correcting nutritional deficiencies needs to be done quickly, especially in children, so their growth isn't stunted.  Nutritional deficiencies can affect intelligence.  Vitamin D deficiency can cause short stature and poor bone formation.   Is your son taking anything for the anemia?  Is the anemia caused by B12 or iron deficiency?
