Tis a loverly afternoon here. It's sunny and 27oC (80oF), and we are sitting out on the deck munching nachos & cheese.

Wow, how quickly this spring weather changes, huh? I think you are now getting the storm system that passed through here earlier...it was 70 mile an hour winds, heavy rain, and hail a few hours ago. Run for cover, Peter!

Just got home from work. You would think that I'd had enough typing and computers whilst there, but nae--came home and logged right in :P I worked on an Excel spreadsheet all day to get our receivables more organised...blah, blah, blah. So boring, I'm putting MYSELF to sleep.

mimommy Contributor

I got NADA.

There's a bee the size of a brazil nut trying to get in me window. Sounds like a twin engine plane buzzin around.

Prufrock--Poppycock!! I've got meself all depressed. Old and Tired, today.

Cheer me up?

Anybodee?

Your weather is coming here late tonight, POeter....we are supposed to get thunderstorms after midnight. We'll be hearing the cracking and rushing wind in the wee hours. . . . ... :)

Prufrock--Poppycock!!

And I have known the arms already, known them all

Arms that are white and braceleted and bare,

[but in the lamplight, downed with light brown hair!]

Hey! I do believe Eliot, in his very masterpiece, has spoken subtly of our Soooozle!

Raechull! Sorry to hear you is down. . . . .....All right, so yesterday, when I was waiting with my dad at the hospital, after we'd been sitting for a while he suddenly said, "Whenever I think of the past, it brings back so many memories". . . ......

Now, if he'd mentioned chin hair...

Good joke from yer Pa. My friend's dad used to say, "It's rainin' cats and dogs--I just stepped in a poodle"

Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk.

If you want to know why I'm down, it's this grand Michigan living. Every day I talk to people who have lost their jobs, their homes are in foreclosure, they are on food stamps, or unemployment. Or worse--they have a job that only pays about $8 an hour (me, for one). These are highly skilled workers, professionals, people with college degrees and families (including me). I try to help if I can, but that's not saying a lot. There's just not much beyond a kind word and a coupon, and some volunteering, that I can do--if Chrysler goes under, it's curtains around here.

So, I smile for people, try not become murderous when they push too hard, and pretty much find the humor in it. But, somedays are diamonds, some days are coal.

Well, that and, I'm PMSing. And the rats are gnawing on me tendons again.

Alright, enough. Whoa is we, blah, blah, blah--yaddah freakin yaddah.

How is Judy doing with the porch?

How is Suze doing with the post brandied cloves hangover? Sleep well, darlin?

How is Patty doin with the cheese? You must be beyond thrilled. Hats off to you for your commitment all these years to eating for your health. You are an inspiration!

Actually, all of you are--to me. I mean that

Peter, hope you have a sump pump and an umbrella.

Bev, wishing you big blue butterflies of happiness this May!

Emily, you make me aspire to write well again.

Gah. Need to call my dad and tell him to make me larf. . . . ....

Yeah.....before our.....what do I call it?.........nightmare?..........we were discussing how were we going to make it thru this summer. Brian's company supplies bearings to the auto industry and his job has had many cutbacks. It's been harder and harder for us to keep afloat. It's rather ironic that we may come out ahead after all is said and done.

Brian has a dismemberment clause on his life insurance, and when he told me how much they'll be paying us for his leg, I said, "Gee....I wonder how much they'd pay for the rest of you!" :P

Nice!......My DD bought one on e-bay several years ago. I once had a hearing-impaired student who was in orchestra...middle school....so I borrowed the violin and learned right along with him. Probably forgot most of it by now.

Do you play?

Your experience is both shocking and critically important for the community to hear, underscoring the terrifying reality that cross-contamination can extend into the most unexpected and invasive medical devices. It is absolutely devastating that you had to endure six months of sickness and ultimately sustain permanent vision loss because a doctor dismissed your legitimate, life-altering condition. Your relentless research and advocacy, from discovering the gluten in MMA acrylic to finding a compassionate prosthodontist, is a testament to your strength in a system that often fails celiac patients. While the scientific and medical consensus is that gluten cannot be absorbed through the skin or eyes (as the molecules are too large to pass through these barriers), your story highlights a terrifying gray area: what about a substance *permanently implanted inside the body*, where it could potentially shed microparticles or cause a localized immune reaction? Your powerful warning about acrylic lenses and the drastic difference with the silicone alternative is invaluable information. Thank you for sharing your harrowing journey and the specific, severe neurological symptoms you endure; it is a stark reminder that celiac is a systemic disease, and your advocacy is undoubtedly saving others from similar trauma.

I am so sorry you're going through this bad experience--it's difficult when your own lived reality of cause and effect is dismissed by the very professionals meant to help you. You are absolutely right—your violent physical reactions are not "what you think," but undeniable data points, and it's a form of medical gaslighting to be told otherwise, especially when you have a positive HLA-DQ2 gene and a clear clinical picture. Since your current "celiac specialist" is not addressing the core issue or your related conditions like SIBO and chronic fatigue, it may be time for a strategic pivot. Instead of trying to "reprove" your celiac disease to unwilling ears, consider seeking out a new gastroenterologist or functional medicine doctor, and frame the conversation around managing the complications of a confirmed gluten-free diet for celiac disease. Go in and say, "I have celiac disease, am strictly gluten-free, but I am still suffering from these specific complications: SIBO, chronic fatigue, dermatological issues, and high blood pressure linked to pain. I need a partner to help me address these related conditions." This shifts the focus from a debate about your diagnosis to a collaborative plan for your current suffering, which is the help you truly need and deserve to work toward bouncing back.

Hello, no I had to have them re done and then used a liner over the top.  Many dentists are not aware of the celiac effects.  Best of luck.   There is other material, yet, very expensive.

He is not just a psychiatrist.  He is also a neuroscientist.  And yes, I have already read those studies.   I agree with benfotiamine.  This is short term while glutened/inflammation occurs.  As I had already mentioned, these symptoms no longer exist when this phase passes.  And yes, I know that celiac is a disease of malnutrition.  We are working with a naturopath.
