Boy, I'd sure like to propagate her flower. That is one hairy stamen.

Totally belongs in the "things that may sound dirty to some" spot.

OMG.....have I a hairy stamen?? ...Or are they supposed to be hairy? I suppose it depends, as do many things, upon which country you are in.. .... . ....

North Americans cannot abide hairy stamens, methinks. . . ...:lol:

Susan Boyle is SUBO? GAHHH!:lol:

OMG - yesterday a big old laaaaaaaaazy bumble bee flew into my yard  I snackled and called out "oh Lloyd, LLOYD, is that you????" but he didn't answer so, I guess it was someone else.

....Have NOT seen Lloyd 'round these parts in a couple of days. . . ... ....could he have high-tailed it to CA in that time? Actually, he could have just died. How long do bumble bees live? Some insects are around for less than a day, methinks......Lloyd: FOUR YEARS, and counting.:lol:

I made that orange-almond cake referenced in the starbucks thread ---- DROOOOOOLLLLLLL

I had to take some to my neighbor to keep from eating the entire pan in two days. She and her mom thought it was so good they came over demanding the recipe.

Seriously tasty.

I must try this recipe!

Stupid question--are the oranges peeled before you boil them?

Here I is anyway. Got nowt much to say though.

Don't see many Lloyds where we will be next week, but lots of grey squirrels, Douglas squirrels, big fat ground squirrels (I guess in some places you call them prairie dogs--issay the same thing?) and plenty of mountain jays, quail, some bobtail rabbits (and CATS :o ). If we decide to fill the feeder on the tree all hell breaks loose, with the squirrels devising means to get at it, the jays making tremendous commotions and swinging wildly to and fro (I hate those noisy blighters) and generally scaring the heeell out of the wildlife populace, and the ground feeders getting the most because the jays knock it all on the ground and the rabbits and quail and other little birds and other peace-luvin critters sneak in when no-one's looking....probably won't fill the feeder! :(

The antarctic express made another unscheduled stop yesterday, shooing us on our way with more snow and hail so that we had to light the Tulikivi to keep ourselphs toasty. Shoulda left weeks ago. Guess I should think about packing somethings?? do you think??

Hi all B)

Got naught but wanted to say hey ya'll :D

Mark and I took a nice walk tonight after dinner--down by the canal. It was hot today, but cooled down nicely by this evening and it seemed less humid.

Went to Starbucks today and got a little adventurous :P I had an Awake Tea Latte--I told the barista about my cross contamination concerns, so he frothed the skim milk in a disposable cup and didn't use a spoon--just poured it in. It was delicious--and I got to order a "fancy" drink!!

Not stupid. I had to look it up. Don't peel them, boil them whole. When they are all gooshy take off the stem bit, and cut them open to get out any seeds. I also added a shot of almond extract to mine, but I have this thing about never doing anything the same way someone else did it.

This would be a good time to explain that Canada uses a different scale than the US.

5.1 mmol/l would be 92 on the US scale of mg/dl. To convert, multiply/divide by 18.

Nowt else to add tonight.

I was wondering if agave would work as well. I think you might need to increase the almonds by a bit, maybe 1/3 of a cup? Or bake it a bit longer, or in a larger pan so it's thinner.

I think you could also decrease the sugar/sweetener by about half and it would still be fabulous.

Been MIA for days and only had 7 or 8 pages to read......WIH?

We've been having computer issues. Have a laptop, now.......we're ignoring the desktop computer til it decides to get it's act together<_<

Brian got his leg Friday and he hasn't sit still since then!

I can nae keep up with him, cuz I still has pneumonia :( . I used the last of me prescription Sat. Went to the doc today cuz I'm still coughin with stuff rattlin around in me chest and makin me dizzy and not breathin up to par. He says it's not any better.

Soooooo........another 10 days of a stronger antibiotic, then back to the doc. He says it's not bad enough to require hospitalization. At least there's no more fever and the coughing isn't as frequent.

How are the bug bites, Suze? Bed bugs are makin the news lately.......practically an epidemic. That was my DD's problem......not lupus of the skin like the doc said. She originally thought it was fleas......so they bombed they're apt. Then had the manager bring in an exterminator. Then went to a dermatologist. Didn't know it was bedbugs til they moved out and found a nest of them under the boxsprings! :o Never had problems before they moved into that apartment.

Nik!.........is your visitor here, yet? :P See...........that is why 50 is so awesome! B)

I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.
    • Colleen H
Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you
    • sleuth
Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.
    • Scott Adams
Have you tried AN-PEP enzymes, for example, GlutenX (who is a sponsor here)? A lot of research has shown that it can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines. It might be a better approach than risking nicotine addiction, and the questionable research around this. I also hope that he’s trying to be 100% Gluten-Free.
    • Me,Sue
Hi all  I was diagnosed Coeliac a few years ago and follow a gluten free diet. The list of foods that I can eat without a problem grows shorter on a weekly basis. [I also have diabetes and asthma also].  BUT the reason I am posting this is because I seem to struggle with nausea quite a lot, which is really quite debilitating, and I was wondering if others suffer from nausea, even if following a gluten free diet.
