Ummmm.........Did she have company whilst you were away?

Between fits of laughter, she assured us that she did not. Ya gotta picture her - - a very proper, English, wizened seventy-eight year old lady .... . . ......

It actually was very funny, looking at her with raised eyebrows as she stood by our bed showing us the broken frame and wheel.... . .

Agh, better than the last two visits - - roof dent (! ) and side mirror missing on my car, and broken washing machine door.

What in hell IS it with her? Is she a Transformer er somefin?

Uh, oh, Nikkers... . . ....feelin'.. . . .....swiney?

Two of DD's closest friends came down with the swine flu last month. They were diagnosed the week after all three of them spent the night together at a sleepover. They were a little feverish, achy and very tired for a couple of days. That was it.

Sophie did not develop any symptoms.

I dunno. I seem very underwhelmed by this pandemic, it would seem.

Jyess our Resident Sciencey Chick... ...what is your spin on this as it has played out thus far?

We vacationed at Lake Michigan. Here is the convict story . . . Open Original Shared Link

They kept having sightings within a mile of where we were staying . . . as late as yesterday even. The place we were staying even had pictures up and were putting out warnings to keep all doors and windows locked and to stay in groups . . . makes for quite a relaxing atmosphere.

Nik has come down wif the school's out blues flu . . . hope yer feelin' better soon.

We had an escaped con on the loose for a couple of months; he was first intercepted about five miles from us, but then escaped on a motorcycle and subsequently into the hills and bush on foot and the cops lost him. From then on it was kind of like a movie; he kept swapping vehicles, dumping one and stealing another; breaking into houses for food and guns (and drugstores for drugs); there were sightings galore but oh, the ineptitude in catching up with him. Eventually he more or less gave himselph up because he was tired, I reckon

Good to hear--I kinda got that feeling but when it first broke, it was all over the news here I guess because we're so close to Mexico. The coverage has fizzled, though.....

Good Morning, Psills!

Yes, 'tis mighty quiet since my return..... . . . . .wish I'd been around last night wif ya, Shroomie. Still a little jetlagged, a bit off - - and me being the way I am to start with, one can imagine how .....interesting....I am presently. <_<

I am meeting a good friend for lunch this aft. She emailed me a brief message yesterday, saying that she is done with facebook, that the sh!t had really hit the fan with her profile (she did not go into detail - - I'm assuming someone hacked into it and got personal info and took it from there).... . . . :( So, I'll let ya'll know... .. .

Don't these hackers have anything better to do? Why can't we simply acquire and/or deal semi-automatics, battle pirates, send alcohol and phunnee pins around in peace?.... . . . .....man, leave us alone! :rolleyes:B)

that sucks M. Get any details we might ned to protect ourselves.

I WAS engaging in Friday night drunken hilarity, I just went out to do it. Two women that I didn't realize I like so well, and two others that are more fun then I ever knew. Was up til midnight laughing.

Fantastic, Jyess! Just lurve when this happens - - throw some heavy alcohol at a boring, reserved, straight-back-and-sides individual and watch a new person germinate........Of course, the new personality can be horrific, but more often in my experience it is suddenly someone whom I wanna be around all the time, and I proceed to try to get them drinking whenever we're together.

Sometimes I think I'd like my kids a lot more if they were constantly hammered.....

:huh::o

Just back from a baby shower . . . I was the "help" . . . much running back and forth between my house and the neighbors, fetching and cooking . . . we're gonna spike the punch later after the "baby" goes home. :P

Highly recommended.... . . .......again, everyone will be so much more easily tolerated.

I've been to three baby showers in the past six months, and boy, did I need alcohol at each of them - - none to be found, however. Loved the mothers-and-dads-to-be, but was often at a loss with their great-aunts, second cousins, work-sharing partners, neighboUrs, doulas..... . . ...

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind

Thank you for your post, @nanny marley It is interesting what you say about 'It's OK not to sleep'. Worrying about sleeping only makes it much harder to sleep.  One of my relatives is an insomniac and I am sure that is part of the problem.  Whereas I once had a neighbour who, if she couldn't sleep, would simply get up again, make a cup of tea, read, do a sudoku or some other small task, and then go back to bed when she felt sleepy again.  I can't think it did her any harm - she lived  well into her nineties. Last week I decided to try a Floradix Magnesium supplement which seems to be helping me to sleep better.  It is a liquid magnesium supplement, so easy to take.  It is gluten free (unlike the Floradix iron supplement).  Might be worth a try.

It could be a fructan intolerance? How do you do with dates?  https://www.dietvsdisease.org/sorry-your-gluten-sensitivity-is-actually-a-fructan-intolerance/

Thank’s for addressing the issue of mushrooms.  I was under the impression that only wild mushrooms were gluten-free.  Have been avoiding cultivated mushrooms for years. Also, the issue of smoked food was informative.  In France last year, where there is hardly any prepared take-out food that is gluten-free, I tried smoked chicken.  Major mistake!
