Well, after two days off, back to work in the morning. It will be a short day.

Christmas was a quiet day for just us mostly. We visited Jacquie's brother in the afternoon, and our nephew took five minutes out of playing with the Wii to open his gift and say thank you.

Dinner for two was roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, with gravy, wax beans and rice. All gluten-free, of course.

We had the family gathering on my side this evening, with my brothers, their wives, and my parents. Open Original Shared Link was the host this year. They had some gingerbread cookies by El Peto. Mmmm.

'Mornin', POeter! Been meaning to tell you that Jack finally got hold of Rob's latest (I think it's his most recent.....:unsure:... . . . .."Watch", I believe), and he loved it. Sophie halfhazardly picked it up in a sci-fi-is-SOOOO-uncool-and-totally-not-my-thing fashion and, despite herself, could not put it down. Jack wrote a message to Rob on his website about it and got a very nice, attentive answer.

Jack is wondering if he could come to Rob's house with you next Christmas, as he has too many other questions to feasibly be posting on the website. :rolleyes:

mmm Having a big bowl of bean soup for brekky (thanks K-wren!). Christmas from my bro and SIL was food based. Gigantic saute pan, oil mister, Barbara Kingsolver Open Original Shared Link, ginger scented lotion (may need that after the bowl of beans), and a box of gluten-free chips and crackers and asparagus tapenade.

Carrots, celery, green peppers, cilantro, onions, black beans, white beans, garlic powder, ham, home made turkey broth. Crock over night, then add smoked paprika and a little hot sauce.

Jack is wondering if he could come to Rob's house with you next Christmas, as he has too many other questions to feasibly be posting on the website. :rolleyes:

We do a three-year rotation, so Rob is next up in 2013. This coming year is Alan's turn.

Watch is the latest, the second volume in the WWW trilogy. Wonder is due out in April, and Rob will be doing another Canadian tour for the launch, and he plans to include Ottawa.

Afternoon pholks!!!

Looks like we've almost got rid of the snow & Ice in the south

Oops - think we sent it to the East Coast

Everyone survive ok??

I am relatively unscathed, only managed to lose 1 crown ...one (a different) fell out last week too!

Only I didn't find this one - think I ate it ph34r.gif

Bugger!! - NOT prepared to do ANY scatalogical studies so KACHING it shall be laugh.gif

There are hundreds of birds in the trees out back! They are so noisy, I can hear them in e house, over the noise of the wash machine & TV! Anyone remember Alfred Hitchcock? :(

The starlings stayed in the trees for about 15 very loud minutes. Suddenly, it went silent and they flew away. Maybe just waiting for a freshly washed car to go by.

'Tis extraordinary, really... . . . . ....Ottawa is known for its cold, snow-laden winters, and yet this city has somehow miraculously been completely sideswiped by ALL of the horrific blizzard activity that has been pounding the surrounding areas. Got nuttin' here - - perhaps 12 cm of psnaough since the start of winter. :huh:

Must go out and buy a lottery ticket, methinks.. . . . ..

We know quite a few people whose holiday travel plans have been skippered. Patteigh! How are youse faring after the 51 cm??

Things are pretty much back to normal here as of this morning--the Governor's office called for a snow emergency yesterday. Mark went in to work yesterday without too much difficulty (although to be phair, our cars are in a parking garage so he didn't have to dig out like a lot of pholks did).

The winds were awful--finally dying down this morning.

It's supposed to be close to 50 by the week's end. :rolleyes:

You sure did send it here- we got 9 + inches. We initially had such heavy snow and winds that you couldn't drive. Then the winds were unbelievable through last night.

I'll be offline and in bed as I seem to have the flu. Does Celiac make you more susceptible to illnesses? I seem to just keep getting sick. Spent the past two days in bed already. We have all these movies we want to go see but right now getting the energy to shower is all I can muster. Clark is actually going to the supermarket with a mini shopping list.

I miss my psillies. Sending Non Contagious Hugs, smile.gif

      Not necessarily. The "Gluten Free" label means not more than 20ppm of gluten in the product which is often not enough for super sensitive celiacs. You would need to be looking for "Certified Gluten Free" (GFCO endorsed) which means no more than 10ppm of gluten. Having said that, "Gluten Free" doesn't mean that there will necessarily be more gluten than "Certified...

      I think it is wise to seek a second opinion from a GI doc and to go on a gluten free diet in the meantime. The GI doc may look at all the evidence, including the biopsy report, and conclude you don't need anything else to reach a dx of celiac disease and so, there would be no need for a gluten challenge. But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you...

I wish I had known of this at the time of her diagnosis, life would have been much easier.  I hope you are able to figure out.

Mainly he kept saying his legs were shaking. Is this a gluten exposure symptom that anyone else gets? Also the bad behavior?

But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you can worry about the gluten challenge at that time. But between now and the time of the appointment, if your symptoms improve on a gluten free diet, that is more evidence. Just keep in mind that if a gluten challenge is called for, the bare minimum challenge length is two weeks of the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten, which is about the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread. But, I would count on giving it four weeks to be sure.
