Well, BE is bye bye. Oddly enough he thought it was getting too serious, and I thought it was going nowhere. Funny how people perceive the same situation. Anyway, it was a relief to finally just say it.

but I will miss the sex

Off to catch the 6:20 boat. I've missed that crowd since I've been on a later ferry all summer.

I wrote him a lovely email designed to remind him of all the wonderful things we had together, and all the amazing sex he now won't be having, and ended it with this:

But I don't miss you. I realize now that I thought you were someone else. The person that I miss was never real. So like a well written love story that makes you sniffle in the end, I will tuck the last year into the "fun, but fantasy" category of my mind.

So, to whoever you actually are, I hope that you find what you want out of life.

D'ya think I hit the right note? I gave him the morning, in case he had any interest in responding, but now I've blocked his address from my email so I can fully close the door. I like to know that things are completely done.

Gosh yes--you really have a way with words :)

I'm sorry it ended, and glad you're ok ;)

Hello Dear Ones, Sorry I've been out of touch for so long but a lot has been going on. I'll begin with the good news. I GOT DISABILITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'ts retroactive to 1/1/01 and my lawyers get abut $2000 but it was well worth it. If anyone ever needs to apply for it (I hope you never do) I highly recommend finding a good lawyer and using them from the git go. My surgery took much longer to recuperate from than I expected (I guess it takes a while when they drill a hole in your head). The results were fibrodysplasia. It means there's soft tissue where there should be bone. No tumor, thank God. I've been diagnosed with Lupus (which could be the cause of a lot of my other symptoms. I also have a fracture in my lower back from a fall I took about 5 months ago. My leukemia is somewhat stable. My lymphocytes doubled but my oncologist doesn't seem too concerned. My mother-in-law from my first marriage just passed and we were very close. She was 91 and until the last few years was very active. She was in Oregon and I was supposed to visit her right when the celiac hit me. I feel extremely blessed to have a wonderful spouse (he treats me like a queen) a maturing son, and a great group of doctors who all work together. I also feel blessed to have each and every one of you in my life.I have a library of books on positive thinking (there are a lot of hysterical books written by cancer survivors and many can apply to other illnesses. I do get down in the dumps but pick up a book or make earrings. Missing my friends in NJ is the hardest part. I hope you're all doing well and know how much I love and miss you. Your support has seen me through this!Lo P.S. At least you had good sex Jess!!!

kareng Grand Master

Good to see you, Lo! I have seen you reading along & was wondering how you were doing.

The Disability $ will be a blessing. I don't think you can get it without a lawyer. Goverment buracracy!

At least they seem to be figuring out waht is wrong with you. That way you can deal with it.

Hope Tony is enjoying college. J is loving it! All kinds of physical activities like rock wall climbing, sand volleyball tournaments, co-ed inner tube water polo! He is helping the high school robotics team & has applied to work on a NASA robotics grant project. Not sure if he is taking any classes. :P

Rest up & feel better.

Jestgar Rising Star

Hugs Lo-Lo!!! I have been wondering about you and I'm glad things are heading in a positive direction.

Loey Rising Star

Just found out that my retro from disability will be $18,000 after the lawyers are paid. They got $5000 but every penny was worth it. I'd probably still be muddling along through the paperwork. My first disability payment will come the 3rd week in November. It doesn't pay as much as unemployment did but that's because I took 10 years off to raise Tony and didn't contribute to the system. I won't get medicare for two years but we're covered by Clark's job for a year and then he can buy cobra. I'm certainly making the most of his medical.

I can't imagine him not finding some kind of work within the year. This might all turn out to be a good thing and allow him to reinvent his career. He spent 27 years dissecting and analyzing rat brains so enough is enough. When we were first dating he gave me two rat brain slides and I made them into earrings. They were lost long ago but they were a sweet and psilly gift. At the time I was making big bucks at CBS and he was at his first job. I can't believe it was 23 years ago. Our 20th anniversary is on the 6th. Time flies.

Well this post isn't psilly but it is good news!!!

Love, wub.gifwub.gifwub.gif

P.S. Jess, glad the break-up was mutual and not extremely painful. You (and everyone here) deserve the best because that's what you are! You have all been my lifeline since I joined. Where else can you turn at 3 AM and can't sleep and know that you won't be alone and will be laughing. I signed up for a CLL Forum but it's just not the same. You've all become my family. biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

7 hours helping someone move. Gads. Exhausted. There were I think 8 of us helping them, but some left early and one guy came late. Made me want to come home and just start throwing stuff away. D'ya really need 15 boxes of Christmas stuff? Fortunately we moved the wine last so it was easy to get to. Filled my truck twice with wood, and trailer half full of wood (the rest of his trailer was full of giant potted plants).

mushroom Proficient

Yeah, as long as the wine is on top and readily available, it can make it all worth while :) I personally don't think friends should help friends move unless finances are dire -- a quick way to turn them into former friends :P

I didn't know you were just down the street from me!

These people were moving in with a pick- up full of the largest house plants ever! Missed the truck full of wood.

Jestgar Rising Star

These were outside plants. Those giant half barrels and other humungoid things. They had movers do the furniture, but I didn't hear why they didn't have them do everything. The hubby has MS and is on disability, and they have a house in CA that they haven't been able to sell, so I imagine they keep track of the funds.

Feeling a little stiff this morning. Can't decide if I'm doing the long walk or not. I'll see if coffee provides some sort of motivation.

"Take a shorter walk & see if things loosen up. Then you can go farther." This is Cooper, my personal trainers advice to me everyday. Sure enough, Cooper loosens up & makes stiff me go farther. :D

Don't see any drunken post-wedding posts from Ray-shell! :(

Hi,  My 7 year daughter has complained of this in the past, which I thought were part of her glutening symptom, but more recently I have come to figure out it's part of her histamine overload symptom. This one symptom was part of her broader profile, which included irritability, extreme hunger, confusion, post-nasal drip. You might want to look up "histamine intolerance". I wish I had known of this at the time of her diagnosis, life would have been much easier.  I hope you are able to figure out.

My 5yo was diagnosed with celiac last year by being tested after his sister was diagnosed. We are very strict on the gluten-free diet, but unsure what his reactions are as he was diagnosed without many symptoms other than low ferritin.  He had a school party where his teacher made gluten-free gingerbread men. I almost said no because she made it in her kitchen but I thought it would be ok.  Next day and for a few after his behavior is awful. Hitting, rude, disrespectful. Mainly he kept saying his legs were shaking. Is this a gluten exposure symptom that anyone else gets? Also the bad behavior?
    • trents
Not necessarily. The "Gluten Free" label means not more than 20ppm of gluten in the product which is often not enough for super sensitive celiacs. You would need to be looking for "Certified Gluten Free" (GFCO endorsed) which means no more than 10ppm of gluten. Having said that, "Gluten Free" doesn't mean that there will necessarily be more gluten than "Certified Gluten" in any given batch run. It just means there could be.
    • trents
I think it is wise to seek a second opinion from a GI doc and to go on a gluten free diet in the meantime. The GI doc may look at all the evidence, including the biopsy report, and conclude you don't need anything else to reach a dx of celiac disease and so, there would be no need for a gluten challenge. But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you can worry about the gluten challenge at that time. But between now and the time of the appointment, if your symptoms improve on a gluten free diet, that is more evidence. Just keep in mind that if a gluten challenge is called for, the bare minimum challenge length is two weeks of the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten, which is about the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread. But, I would count on giving it four weeks to be sure.
