I shall squeeze you in after North Carolina and the kids' summer camp. :P Oh . . . also have to squeeze in a trip to me Da's before school starts up again in August. He has knick-knack's that need de-knick-knacking.

Don't think any of us want to be here. Weather nice today 82 no humidity. Weather man just said "Heat and humidity return for the Holiday".

I'm sure if you go the the American Embassy near you and explained that this was a Psilly emergency you would be given an immediate Visa.

Been phollowing all yer summer phun banter--been busy today wif photographer ....the new realtor really knows what she wants. It was like a movie set in here. B) She's all about the right "angles" and "wide shots" and "the right lighting"--a real phirecracker, that one!

Jan-it, when I called Johnson and Johnson to make sure about the baby shampoo, I found out they are going to be introducing a new "naturals line". She didn't have much info, but it should be in stores soon and then they'll have gluten info and such. She only had info on the lotion, which is gluten-free. Thought you might want to phile that away in case Skeeter has to switch at some point.

I'm thinking maybe on the order of California Baby? But easier to find.

Actually, around here it a Visa, Mastercard or American Express. As long as you have one of those, I'm sure my city would welcome you.

I realize I'm coming in late to this conversation (stupid job) but I have a few ideas! Patee, are you sensitive to coconut? If not maybe try the Tropical Traditions website. I have a handpump lather soap that has one ingredient- saponified virgin coconut oil. Seriously. Not that I would use it on my hair regularly- I did try it once, gave me tangles you wouldn't believe. But they have lots of different kinds of products that are really icky-chemical-free. They even have a shampoo bar! Also just the one ingredient, if you want it unscented. The only scents they use are essential oils, so if you tolerate those you might be able to enjoy a scent.

Also, with the California baby, make sure it says unscented, because they tend to put smells in everything else. My 'calming' face lotion has a rather strong scent, actually.

There was something else I was thinking of, but I can't remember since I can't go LOOK! Fireworks are coming!!

Trash day . . . prepare yourself . . . had lots of rain and raccoons in my (large) bird food bin . . . big time nastiness . . . :greenguy: . . . I put the whole thing, bin and all, into a giant garbage bag and stuck it in our trash can. Still left a trail of putrid slime and maggots. The smell was gagulous. Had to clorox the trash can.

We are trying to fit in a few days in LA to go to Disney & Catalina Island. J (17) came up with this idea: We should be able to go to the front of the lines because I have a "disability". I said that it doesn't effect my ability to ride a ride or stand in line. He said we have to get the ride seats/cars wiped down before I ride incase some kid had crumbs on his fingers. That should get us to the front of the line. B) Always looking for a way to beat the system.

Taking another math class. Anyone know anything about double integrals and polar coordinates? Like WIH is a polar coordinate?? not that I took calculus 25 years ago or anything....

      Thoughtful article. For me the most valuable element of this article is the discussion of IELs. We have many posts on celiac.com from people who have all the symptoms of celiac disease but whose biopsies show no other irregularity than IELs. Perhaps we should be taking that more seriously.

Somewhat controversial but apparently gluten plugs into the same neuro sensors as opiates do and some people get a similar type withdrawal as they do when quitting opiates. Another issue is that gluten-free facsimile flours are not fortified with vitamins and minerals as is wheat flour...

      Looking for help sourcing gluten-free products that do not contain potato or corn derived ingredients. I have other autoimmune conditions (Psoriatic Arthritis and Sjogrens) so I’m looking for prepared foods as I have fatigue and cannot devote a lot of time to baking my own treats.

Another issue is that gluten-free facsimile flours are not fortified with vitamins and minerals as is wheat flour (in the U.S. at least) so when the switch is made to gluten-free facsimile foods, especially if a lot of processed gluten-free foods are being used as substitutes, vitamin and mineral deficiencies can result. There is also the possibility that she has picked up a virus or some but that is totally unrelated to going gluten-free.

The fact that you have been diligently following the diet without relief is a clear sign that something else is going on, and your doctors should be investigating other causes or complications, not dismissing your very real suffering.

      It is just so sad that health care in the United States has come to this.  Health insurance should be available to everyone, not just the healthy or the rich.  My heart goes out to you.  I would not hesitate to have the test and pay for it myself.  My big concern would be how you could keep the results truly private.  I am sure that ultimately, you could not.  A.I. is getting more and more pervasive, and all data is available somewhere.  I don't know if you could give a fake name, or pay for your test with cash.  I certainly would not disclose any positive results on a private insurance application.  As I understand it, for an official diagnosis, an MD needs to review your labs and make the call.  If you end up in the ER, or some other situation, just request a gluten free diet, and say it is because you feel better when you don't eat gluten.      Hang in there, though.  Medicare is not that far away for you, and it will remove a lot of stress from your health care concerns.  You will even be able to "come out of the closet" about being Celiac!
