I've actually never bought "the protection" :lol: I was embarassed enough by the Immodium....

DingoGirl Enthusiast
I can remember those days... I used to throw them up on the counter, look the cashier right in the eye think to myself "yeah, I'm getting some tonight - you got a problem with that?"

:P

:lol::lol:

It was more of the combination....drinking, pooping, sex :D .....considering it was ALL we bought (around 10 pm on a Friday night). It looked rather "amusing"

:lol::lol:

Now there's a date for ya! :P

yup, I'd take it.... ;) (not necessarily in that order - probably pooping last)

She's not ill-tempered though.

Someone should send her a pm inviting her to this thread. Laura could use another ish-ish. Were there any other ish-ish's?

I'm an ish-ish!! About half-wayish to fortyish :lol:

I was going to try to stay and play but I need to go lay down; I was an idiot last night and ate something when I wasn't sure if it was safe or not....I'm paying for it now :(

Look forward to catching up later!

You guys :lol::lol::lol::lol:

I'm reading between teaching. :lol::lol:

hahahaha, Patti, that made me laugh.

One of my personal favorites was buying beer (for hubby), Imodium in large quantities (for me), and um, "protection" (for both of us, so yall figure that one out.) I stood in line with a straight face and was beet red.

Back before I was Catholic (now it's all a matter of timing things), the funniest was when Adam bought a bottle of wine, a box of "protection", and a package of diapers!!! :lol:

Jessica,

Hope you feel better quickly. Don't be too hard on yourself.

Still premature posting....

Reading about nail polish and movies. :D

I'm like Liz....a grown-up TOMBOY....I could never deal with nail polish...plus I was always biting my nails off anyway. All I have to say is thank Gaaaaawd I wasnt swallowing them! GROSS! :blink: I think I have enough problems already...balls of nails in my tummy....now that would really SUCK! (as if my other stuff doesnt suck :rolleyes:)

When I hit 30 for some reason I became more girly...dunno what happened. :huh: Yes...I'm still tomboy but now I actually have dresses and femine clothes....I also wear bras now. Real bras...not sport bras. :P

Oh...and then I started painting my nails....ALL THE TIME. :o

My nails grow pretty fast and decent now that I dont chew them off....thing is that since I got sick they are kinda weird. Like SUPER hard...cant explain it....they dont really break cuz they're almost indestructible now. My mom says this is a good thing....I'm thinking NO....not a good sign. If they do break its almost like breaking a piece of plastic. Part of its broken and I have a hard time just breaking the whole thing off so I can just get on with my day.

I dont paint my nails anymore cuz the fumes would probably make me delerious...BUT I miss painting them. :(

When I used to wear polish it would only last about 2 days and they'd be all chipped...looking like I had put the polish on a month before. Even though I'm sensitive I'd still try to wear polish if it at least lasted longer than 2 days. I cant be reapplying the stuff that frequently....so NO polish for me.

I do wear lipgloss....clear only though. I wear it over my lipstick....I cant have no gloss on my lips...it drives me crazy.

Favorites movie....I'll have to ponder this. I LOVE romantic comedies...suspense, its all good except the Sci-Fi stuff....I cant deal with that. Romantic comedies though....even though they are WAY too predictable. :)

What else???

Oh yeah...Susan NOOOOO....You musnt get sucked into the Krispy Kreme donuts world! Who knows what could happen??? :unsure:

Think about the nuggets addiction....what if this happened with gluteny donuts?? Would we ever see you again?? :o

Have to say....I never had a Krispy Kreme. :(

Took the whole thing for granted....thought they'd always be there....putting it off for another day. You never know what you COULD have had...until its gone. <_<

Oh well....when I'm all better I'm headed there myself. I gotta find out if I'm really gluten intolerant at some point right?? Might as well start with a Krispy Kreme donut....my first one ever!! :D

Be back later for more catching up.

CarlaB Enthusiast
I always wondered if that worked...guess not :unsure:

I don't know, I met a woman once who used it, she was older than I was, and her eyes looked GREAT!! There is an old picture of Adam and I on his dresser from 1999, I look older, had bags under my eyes, and my face was puffy. gluten-free is a beauty secret in its own right!

They even use duct tape as a "lift" for their assets.

No, no, no, it's masking tape ... imagine pulling duct tape off!!!! I've used that secret since I was about 16. The first time I did it around hubby, he couldn't imagine what I was doing!!!! :lol: Once at the academy awards one of the stars used a little too much and it was showing! :huh:

OMG--that is SO true! I have a picture that was taken about 5 months before my dx. I was at a function, so I was dressed up, had makeup on and thought I looked ok. I felt awful, though. Anyway, I came across it recently and scanned it onto the computer. What a difference between that and the picture that was my former avatar. The difference in my face was astounding! I wish I could put up a 'before and after.'

My daughter had a friend in HS who made her prom dress out of duct tape and her date made a tux. She said it was really pretty! But, they don't stick it to the body for clothes.

This is the second time today I've read about this appropriately named bread -- at least they have a sense of humor! WHERE CAN I BUY SOME!!!!

Don't be scared, I am here ... just got back from washing my car -- even had enough energy to vacuum it out and clean the windows!! Then I went to the grocery and bought myself a porterhouse steak -- I always have leftovers for breakfast, nothing as good as steak and eggs!! Now, I need to get cooking!! Then, relaxation for the rest of the evening, I'm supposed to be banking this energy, not using it.

      Not necessarily. The "Gluten Free" label means not more than 20ppm of gluten in the product which is often not enough for super sensitive celiacs. You would need to be looking for "Certified Gluten Free" (GFCO endorsed) which means no more than 10ppm of gluten. Having said that, "Gluten Free" doesn't mean that there will necessarily be more gluten than "Certified Gluten" in any given batch run. It just means there could be.

      I think it is wise to seek a second opinion from a GI doc and to go on a gluten free diet in the meantime. The GI doc may look at all the evidence, including the biopsy report, and conclude you don't need anything else to reach a dx of celiac disease and so, there would be no need for a gluten challenge. But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you can worry about the gluten challenge at that time. But between now and the time of the appointment, if your symptoms improve on a gluten free diet, that is more evidence. Just keep in mind that if a gluten challenge is called for, the bare minimum challenge length is two weeks of the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten, which is about the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread. But, I would count on giving it four weeks to be sure.

      Are Bobresmill gluten free oats ok for sensitive celiacs?

      thank you both for the insights. i agree, im going to back off on dairy and try sucraid. thanks for the tip about protein powder, i will look for whey protein powder/drinks!   i don’t understand why my doctor refused to order it either. so i’ve decided i’m not going to her again, and i’m going to get a second opinion with a GI recommended to me by someone with celiac. unfortunately my first appointment isn’t until February 17th. do you think i should go gluten free now or wait until after i meet with the new doctor? i’m torn about what i should do, i dont know if she is going to want to repeat the endoscopy, and i know ill have to be eating gluten to have a positive biopsy. i could always do the gluten challenge on the other hand if she does want to repeat the biopsy.    thanks again, i appreciate the support here. i’ve learned a lot from these boards. i dont know anyone in real life with celiac.

      Let me suggest an adjustment to your terminology. "Celiac disease" and "gluten intolerance" are the same. The other gluten disorder you refer to is NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) which is often referred to as being "gluten sensitive". Having said that, the reality is there is still much inconsistency in how people use these terms. Since celiac disease does damage to the small bowel lining it often results in nutritional deficiencies such as anemia. NCGS does not damage the small bowel lining so your history of anemia may suggest you have celiac disease as opposed to NCGS. But either way, a gluten-free diet is in order. NCGS can cause bodily damage in other ways, particularly to neurological systems.
