lonewolf, I don't know where you live, but you do know that the coyotes can jump an 8" fence. And if they run in packs, they are not afraid of humans and would take your puppy away from you. So, that is great that you left him at home. But, the packs also will run in the daytime, not just at night. We have a pack running about 3 miles from us and since they move around, I am extra cautious when my toy poodle goes out.

Oh, we posted at the same time and I didn't see this. Now that I'm done laughing, I'm scared for my little guy. We used to live by about 100 acres of woods, but they've all been bulldozed down and new houses put in over the past 18 months. We have rats, rabbits, skunks, raccoons, squirrels and coyotes all displaced and over-running our long-standing neighborhood with large yards and lots of trees. First, the raccoons ate our chickens, then rats got into everyone's houses, then we started smelling skunks quite often. Now we keep seeing coyotes right on our street. First about a 20 pound pup several times, then a small adult, and then last night I saw a huge male.

We have a 5 foot high fence and I thought Buddy would be safe. I guess we'll keep him inside unless we are out with him. I know the coyotes have been in our yard, but I hadn't thought about them jumping the fence - we don't always close the gates.

Bad news....Vincent has left the forum. He had a thread about it earlier this morning, I tried to post on it, and it was gone. I dont' know what's going on. I really think we need him here.....maybe everyone should BEG him to come back? :(

I gotta go....not feeling great - - too much rice pudding..... :ph34r: my new favorite thing.... :o

Liz - where do you live? sounds fantastic but do take care of that sweet little dog!

Tavi, my dad gave my mom (they're divorced btw) a t-shirt on her 50th birthday that said, "50 is not old if you're a tree!" LOL :lol::lol: Sorry, someone's got to tease you!!

What you may want to do is build a dog run with a house and a door on the front of the run out of chain link for when you put him out there. If you have a door with a latch and a way to put a lock on it then you could put him out there when it is nice and lock it so no one lets him out and no coyote will push up the latch and open it. They will not just go after your puppy but also when he gets older. My mother's German Shepherd when they were out walking in the morning was attacked by coyotes and had to have stitches. That wa done by a single coyote.

The problem is humans are greedy and have taken away the habitat of the animals, we can move but their place of living is theirs for life.

Thanks guy's my eyes are closed mainly so I don't have to look in the mirror! Funny story I woke up and looked in the mirror and thought I saw a huge new wrinkle then looked harder and it was a scratch. Oh well, guess you had to be there! I took the day off work mostly so I wouldn't be harrassed all day B)

Oh Tavi, I can relate! I turned 50 in February :ph34r: Once today passes, it really dosen't feel any different than 49 :lol:

I think it was Julie who said here that 50 is the new 40--hang onto those words.... B)

Happy Birthday Tavi.

Now the scariest age for me was 30, so far. However, I know that they made a mistake on my birth certificate because my mind is 25 except for the senility part and well my body is the give away, this morning it feels ninety. Of course winter weather makes it hurt and creak more. My saving grace is most think I am maybe 40 not that over half a century look.

I did email Vincent and he is gone, that's too bad, I enjoyed his posting.

No....it involved religious discussions, I think. that specific thread has been removed. Harumph! I want Vincent back - - I begged him to at least get his mullett-ed self back to 40-something...too much pressure on Richard to sustain ALL the testosterone.........

      @catnapt, I apologize. Obviously I've confused you with someone else. I have vision problems due to undiagnosed Celiac complications. Being legally blind, y'all look the same from here. You still have not said which new medication you started taking. Parathyroid disorders can affect antibody production. Bone Loss Correlated with Parathyroid...

      during the gluten challenge I did not consume any wheat germ the wheat germ is TOASTED - it's the only way it is sold now afiak doesn't matter I consume vast amounts of lectin containing foods PROPERLY prepared and have for well over a decade. They do not bother me in the least. no anemia however the endo who ordered...

      @catnapt, I'm sorry you're having such a rough time. How much wheat germ and how much gluten were you eating? Lectins in beans can be broken down by pressure cooking them. Do you pressure cook your beans? Were you pressure cooking your wheat germ? What drugs are you taking? Some immunosuppressive drugs affect IgA production. Do...

      oops my gluten challenge was only 12 days It started Jan 21s and ended Feb 1st worst 12 days of my life Does not help that I also started on a thiazide-like drug for rule in/out renal calcium leak at the exact same time No clue if that could have been symptoms worse 🤔

      so do you have celiac or not? 🤔 why are your vision issues undiagnosed? 😢 what does your ophthalmologist say?  do you have a serious vit A deficiency? what do you take for it? how long have you had celiac disease and how long did  it take to get a diagnosis?   if you are legally blind there are adaptive devices that will help you. I have vision difficulties as well but did not qualify (at least not yet)   do you have a vit A deficiency? why are you undiagnosed? what does your ophthalmologist say? I have a retinal specialist and he tells me my eye condition can not be fixed- until/unless it gets to the point of where surgery is safer since the surgery can leave me actually blind... so you want to wait til it gets really bad 🤪     I hope you find what works for you.    PS   the medication I started at the same time as the gluten challenge is obvious from the condition it's trying to treat. you can google it 😉 it is not an for any auto immune condition.

      during the gluten challenge I did not consume any wheat germ   the wheat germ is TOASTED - it's the only way it is sold now afiak doesn't matter I consume vast amounts of lectin containing foods PROPERLY prepared and have for well over a decade. They do not bother me in the least.    no anemia however the endo who ordered the celiac panel is the one who suggested the 2 week gluten challenge of eating at least 2 slices of bread per day or a serving of pasta- ALSO put me on a new drug at the same time (not a good idea)  I ate 4 slices because they were thin, or 2 English muffins, and just once some lasagna that someone else made since I stopped eating wheat pasta years ago. The English muffins caused some of the worst symptoms but that pc of lasagna almost killed me ( not literally but the pain was extreme) during those 12 days there were at least 3 times I considered going to Urgent Care.   This entire process was a waste of time TBH due to being on that new drug at the exact same time. it is impossible to tell if the drug I am taking for the possible renal calcium leak is working or not- given the dramatic response to the gluten challenge and resulting nausea (no vomiting) and eventually a loss of appetite and lower intake of foods so now I have a dangerously low potassium level   I don't have a simple case of celiac or no- I have an extremely complicated case with multiple variables I am seeing an endocrinologist for a problem with the calcium sensing glands - that system is very complicated and she has been unable to give me a firm diagnosis after many tests with confusing and often alarming results. She also appears to be inexperienced and unsure of herself. but I don't have the luxury of finding a new endo due to multiple issues of insurance, lack of drs in my area, money and transportation. so I'm stuck with her At least she hasn't given up    in any case I can assure you that lectins are not and never were the problem. I know they are a favorite villain in some circles to point to, but I have ZERO symptoms from my NORMAL diet which DOES NOT contain gluten. The longer I went without bread or foods with wheat like raisin bran cereal, the better I have felt. my body had been telling me for several years that wheat was the problem- or maybe specifically gluten, that remains to be seen- and stopping eating it was the best thing I could have done   I almost had unnecessary MAJOR SURGERY due to joint pain that I ONLY have if I am eating bread or related products I assumed it was the refined grains - never really suspected gluten but it does not matter I won't put that poison in my body ever again not that it is literally poison but it is def toxic to me
