Recurring Sore Throat

Checking to see if there are any opinions on this problem - I'm getting a sore throat (ear hurts too) every few days. I don't have a cold and it comes and goes. Since I don't have a Gp doc, I'm not sure who to go to, or if I should wait it out. I also feel very tired when my throat hurts.

Any help?

Thanks

I seem to have a constant sore throat...as if I'm on the verge of a cold that never really hits full force! I also have ear pain that coincides, and when I do get a cold I tend to have sinus pain and toothache as well. This time of year, and spring, is especially bad...I believe that mold and mildew play a big role for me.

Doesn't hurt to go to a Dr to check it out. Is there a walk-in clinic you can go to?

sometimes i get a sore throat if thhe heat is on too high from the dryness. or you could be fighting off a virus?! how long has been going on for?

It could be allergies. I've just figured out that my allergies show up in my throat in the form of post nasal drip and cause my throat and ears to hurt. I always thought allergies came in the form of a runny nose, eyes or sneezing until recently.

I had a constant sore throat (without the ear pain, though), and got hoarse a LOT. Ended up that I had Gastro-Laryngeal Reflux. Instead of just burning my esophagus, the reflux came all the way up to my larynx. I did 90 days of Nexium and a kind of limiting diet (the no chocolate thing was the worst part), but haven't had much problem since . . . .

Went to my gastroenterologist in this past nov. said everything looks good . I am looking into coffee now and what I’ve read cross contamination is possible. I’m stumped. I’m so sick of being sick at times. peace lily🥲

You already got some great recommendations. Just want to second that Mallorca (and Spain in general) is one of the best and easiest places for celiacs to travel. I have been to Mallorca multiple times and have never experienced any cross contaminations and there are SO many easy to buy options in regular supermarkets. Hope you have a wonderful trip.

I agree.  If someone has Barrett's Esophagus, at least here in the UK, as I understand it under normal circumstances a PPI needs to be taken long term (or similar medication).  I have two friends with this.  The PPI it does have side effects but they still have to take it.

Do talk to your doctor about making changes to your medication.    I'm not a medical doctor.   I'm a microbiologist.  I studied nutrition before switching to microbiology because I was curious what vitamins were doing inside the body. I would hate to give advice that jeopardizes your health, so do discuss things with your doctor.

@Jmartes71, Sorry you've been feeling so poorly.   Are you taking any medication to treat the SIBO?   Are you taking any Benfotiamine?  Benfotiamine will help get control of the SIBO.  Thiamine deficiency has symptoms in common with MS. Have you had your gas appliances checked for gas leaks and exhaust fume leaks?  Carbon Monoxide poisoning can cause the same symptoms as the flu and glutening.  Doctors have to check venous blood (not arterial) for carbon monoxide.  Are other inhabitants sick, or just you?  Do they leave the house and get fresh air which relieves their symptoms?
