Cookbook: Grain-free Gourmet

I checked out this cookbook at the library and found so many recipes I can use that I'm going to buy a copy of it to keep at home.

The authors (Jodi Bager and Jenny Lass) do not use any grains in their recipes, nor refined sugar, and the recipes are low-lactose. They mostly use honey or fruit juice to sweeten, and sparingly, so their foods are not overly sweet.

With my other food allergies dairy/eggs/soy, I don't usually find very many "friendly" recipes in a cookbook (especially the gluten-free ones) so I rarely buy them but just check out from the library and take down the one or two that will work. In this cookbook I've found well over a dozen recipes that I think we'll like and don't have anything in them that I can't have or that I can't eliminate or easily substitute.

Most of the recipes I liked are entrees, though, as even their breads (using almond flour) call for eggs. If you can have cheese, they make taco shells from fried provolone cheese, and their crackers use parmasan cheese with the almond flour and other ingredients (looks like they'd be good).

There are several recipes for making condiments and sauces from scratch such as tomato paste, mayo. And some candy recipes using honey (good for those with corn allergy).

That sounds really good. I will check it out.

I know what you mean about most cookbooks--I almost always have to substitute with recipes, and even then there only a few I can even attempt due to the other intolerances.

Skin, brain fog, nails, muscle tone all inproved when I started taking 600 mcg (RDA 150 - 1000 mcg) of Liquid Iodine drops. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis, Iodine exacerbates the rash.  I started at 1 drop (50 mcg) and worked up to 12 drops, but I don't have dermatitis herpetiformis.

      Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶

      Thank you so much for the information and kind message! Reading this transformed how I’ve been viewing my efforts and progress. Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.
