Yes please, it's something that I've never heard of either. Would like to know.

i googled it out of curiousity. it's associated with GERD, and a lot of people on here have GERD, but i am not sure it's related.

Globus sensation is a sensation one gets in the throat that the throat is restricted and is thought to be related to stress more than GERD. I'm not sure that they know much about it actually - it feels as though a muscle in your throat is having a spasm.

I had this while pregnant and nursing with my first son 7 years ago. It was very annoying. I would describe it as a choked up feeling like you get when you are going to cry or something like that. I thought mine was hormonal or my thyroid was swollen. THat is what it felt like. I thankfully haven't had it since. I don't think mine was related to GERD, but the past year I have had symptoms of reflux.

Hmmm... maybe this would apply: Open Original Shared Link

Symptoms include choking spells or swallowing difficulties, chest or upper abdominal pain, heartburn not relieved by acid blocker medications, and bouts of vomiting refusal to eat. It is caused allergy blood cells called eosinophils that are not normally present in the esophagus with the exception of relatively few numbers in the lower esophagus in the setting of acid reflux invading the lining of the esophagus or feeding tube, often as a result of food and/or inhaled pollen allergies.

Ahhhhhhhh now I know what you mean. It is connected with GERD, but the acid effects the essophogus (sp) and that is what is going into spasm. Sometimes you can't even breath! Not nice.

Im being treated with Periet and Domperidone. (also know as Motility). The Domperidone needs to be taken about 1/2 hour before eating three times a day. the Periet is taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

It helps, but depending on the severity of your problem, may not elliminate it completely. You also need to raise the head of your bed by about 6 inches, and never bend down or lay down right after eating if you can avoid it. No eating 2 hours before bed time.

Hope this helps a bit.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?

Thankyou so much for your words. Its a hard battle when a supposed well known hospital whose celiac " specialist " has down played me because my colon looks fine and put it in my medical and so pcp doesn't take seriously. In their eyes we all carry that gene.Im having alot of bad days trying to be positive because of it.
