What's The Difference Between Dh And Dandruff On Head

HI,

I used Salsun Blue today to help with an itch head I 've been having. It's worse tonight then it's been this week. I've been itching it all day and I noticed tonight that it's a bit bloody on top. I get these patches of itches and bumps. Of course I itch them and the bumps get wet. I was wondering what the difference is between dh on the head and dandruff.

do you have dh? i don't but i do have really bad dandruff. someone here said that it might be psoriasis. i don't know much how to help out...i'm still trying to find a "cure" for my issues :P

I used to have dandruff but now that I am gluten-free, it went away. It does come back if I use certain hair products. Definitely ones that have wheat in them but also ones that I suspect must have some gluten in them. So I am wondering if what I had was really DH or a wheat allergy.

When I did have it, I discovered that using vinegar on my head got rid of the itching for a few weeks. I put vinegar on my scalp, let it sit for 20 - 30 minutes and then washed my hair as usual. Sometimes, I had to do it again in a few days, but most of the time, it lasted for weeks.

Also, if you haven't tried them, there are products that you can use during the day to put on the itchy spots that help. I think Head and Shoulders makes one but there is another one, too. I am not sure if these are gluten-free.

Hi, this is my post today to an issue raised under a differnet section. It might help. The mix I happened up on is pure bliss!!! It sounds like you have exactly what I had on the scalp. If I get back on the gluten/gliadin it erupts every three weeks.

Hi there,

I was diagnosed with psoriasis 30 years ago but I always refused to believe I had it. Anyway after a LOOOOONG time I determined that I had Dermatitis Herpetiformis, and so when I went of Gluten/gliadin. I now have no problems. I tried just about everything to help myself as I was just having to pour Betnovate all over my scalp every three weeks. I also had problems on my face (cheeks, eyebrows, folds of the nose and in my ears). Eventually (until I worked out what the real problem was) I used to get full relief from a 50/50 mixture of organic apple cider vinegar and isopropyl alcohol. Some mixed in honey also worked (but not on the scalp!!!). I still use the mix as an aftershave. Checkout ACV on WWW. Also, try giving Green Tea a go as a wash.

Desperately need a vitamin D supplement. I've reacted to most brands I've tried.

No they just said stop all supplements two weeks before. Its so frustrating im not at all happy with my "care team",because im not being seen for my sibo infact my appointment was dropped, I even asked about it and they said Dr prescribed you meds and I stated yes but I again had a reaction.I feel bothersome. I need to find another gi but its useless because its going to be same thing around here.i just feel lost and in tbe medical file they are writing what ever and its really not ok. In fact i dont want to go unless they record the conversation. Yes its that bad.im only having  care and concern for my ms whose Not part of the same health association that pcp and gi are with.I will have to look into changing to another. Mayo clinic is great but its the celiac, sibo, ect and all related issues that need addressed but current " careteam says call when needed. No plans of scheduled dates

@science enthusiast Christi, It could be Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO).  Lots of people with Celiac develop it, especially if they eat a high carbohydrate diet.   Colonic bacteria crawl into the small intestine and ferment the excess carbohydrates and prebiotic fibers which causes lots of gas.   I changed my diet to the Autoimmune Protocol Diet (AIP), a Paleo diet, and supplemented with a B Complex and Benfotiamine, a form of Thiamine that helps heal the intestines and has antibacterial properties.  I had improvement within a few days.  The AIP diet starves out the carbohydrate loving SIBO bacteria and allows more beneficial bacteria a chance to repopulate. Hope this helps.

Yes, a rule I usually follow. Pict Sweet was always known to be gluten-free and after many years of use with no problems, it's easy to forget to look.

"I am quite convinced this gluten is coming from exposure whilst eating out.  Small levels, that don't make me violently sick, but might give me a mild stomach upset." cristiana, are you saying this is your actual experience or are you speculating here?

I have tried many Vit D. Solgad is one that did not cause any problems. I take 5000IU. Most of their vitamins are gluten-free certified but this is not.  They can be purchased direct from Solgar or Amazon.
