Lakisha looked awful in that outfit in the American Idol video for Ford last night, it made her look twice as big. I felt bad for her.

The only season I watched regularly was season 2 I think....I like Reuben the best throughout that year. I also liked Clay, but he was a little too show biz for me. I'm glad he's doing well, and actually I hear more about him than I do Reuben, lol.

For those of you who watched previous years...

Who were your favorites?

Who were the guys/girls that you just couldn't stand?

I never watched AI much until the a couple of season ago. I always got bored, but then came the rockers. It didn't take long before I got sick of Constantine but I enjoyed Bo. Last year I loved Chris D. (He was robbed!). Blake is the only reason I watched this year. I didn't like Kellie Pickler (please, the dumb act got old), or Katharine Mcphee. Do you all remember Scott Sovol, he crepped me out.

My favorites that didn't win were Tamyra Gray ( I think she was in the first season) remember everyone was shocked she was voted off. It made me so mad and realized you can't take your vote for granted and not vote for someone just because you think their safe.

Also someone who very similar to Tamyra, Nadia Turner. I loved her outfits more then anyone else on the show. I think she also had a great personality. I was mad she was voted off way to soon.

I liked Constantine although I knew he wouldn't make it to the end I liked him.

I liked Bo Bice too.....I like the music style he sings. Good memories of blue grass.

So many I didn't like but can't remember the names. Like the guy that sounded like Frank Sinatra who was real pale. That girl from Hawaii, I can see their faces but don't remember the names, usually the ones that got the pity votes because they looked weird.

My favorites thus far have been...

Season 1: Nikki McKibbin and Justin Guarini (he comes from my area)

Season 2: Kimberly Caldwell, Vanessa Olivarez, and Rueben Studdard

Season 3: Briana Ramirez-Rial, Fantasia Barrino, and Amy Adams

Season 4: Carrie Underwood and Jessica Sierra

Season 5: Katharine McPhee and Chris Daughtry (also loved Bucky and Elliot)

I couldn't stand...

Season 1: RJ, AJ, and Ejay

Season 2: Clay Aiken and Carmen Raspusen

Season 3: Jasmine Trias and Camile Valasco

Season 4: Anwar Robinson

Season 5: TAYLOR HICKS

I am glad to see I am not the only one who was annoyed by Taylor Hicks.

Trust me, you were definitely NOT the only one... Both Don and I hated him from the very beginning. He just got under our skin.

Cheri A Contributor

Well, this is the first season that I watched from the beginning. The last 2 seasons I didn't watch till the top 12.

I really didn't like Kelly Pickler or Taylor Hicks at all. I really can't remember before them, lol!

bluejeangirl Contributor

I'm watching the View this morning and Rosie and Elizabeth are asking to vote for Blake tonight. Apparently he's the likely one to get voted off. At this point it's going to be hard to see anyone of those left to be voted off. I'm sure I'll feel bad and frustrated. They're all good. Enjoy the show!

I am unsure who I am rooting for at this point. I might have to go with Jordin at this point. She has always been one of my favorites.

confused Community Regular

Well i voted for blake for 2 hours last night. I really want it to be down to jordin and blake, but i have a feeling it will be jordin and melinda, and if so i will vote all night for jordin next week. I so do not want melinda to win. But i do know all three will get an record deal and do great.

paula

Guhlia Rising Star

Aaaagggghhhhhhhhhh... We're going to Indiana for almost a week and we don't have satellite in the RV! I'm totally going to miss Idol tonight. Man, I hope somebody at the shop watches and can fill me in with who gets voted off. I won't even have internet access to check the board or anything!

blueeyedmanda Community Regular

The way Simon talked last night, I think Blake will go home tonight. I hope not though. I did not think it was right for him to say He wants Melinda in the final 2. How do you think Jordin and Blake felt upon hearing that.

With ya on Blake!! Love him!!!!! I think Melinda is definatly the best singer but I do want Blake and Jordin to be in the final. They are younger and have more of the american idol look I guess.

blueeyedmanda Community Regular

I look at who will do what in the long run, Jordin and Blake will both make appealing pop stars, Melinda is not current in her music.

confused Community Regular

I so agree. Look there are times when the ones that dont even make it to the final 3 do awesome later on. Just like now canstatine is on one of my soaps, i can look at that boy all day long lol. I will buy the music from jordin and blake no matter what, i wont buy from melinda. Im thinking she would do bettter like on broadway or something lol

paula

blueeyedmanda Community Regular

I think both Jordin and Blake will appeal to a big range in their audiences, young and old alike. Melinda is more fit for the stage.

PS-I thought it was annoying she had a street named after her too.

I am in a rough mood today.

confused Community Regular

lmao, i was annoyed to, i did love jordins star in the mall tho. i think that was so cool. And i love blake got to play with that rapper(i forgot his name).

I am nervous for tonight. Even tho i know one of the 2 will go, unless everyone didnt vote for meilnda since simon said that lol

paula

Guhlia Rising Star

Yeah, Blake on stage with Sir Mix A Lot was awesome!!! And Jordin's star, how cool!!!

I think Blake will go tonight, but I really hope he doesn't. I would love to see Blake and Jordin in the finale. I think the two of them will be the most famous by far!!! The only other one that I think will do extremely well, and I hate to say this, but Phil with country music. I think he'll do very well in that arena. Look at how well Josh Gracin is doing and he can't even sing!!! I thought Gracin was horrible on the show, but he sounds great now (in the recording studio). I think Phil will appeal to people because he will be an edgy country star.

I will dearly miss Blake if he gets cut tonight. I may not even watch the finale next week. I love Jordin and all, but I really don't think it should come down to her and Melinda. It should be the two young ones duking it out, Jordin and Blake. Melinda is awesome, don't get me wrong, she's just not young enough... JMO...

Simon ticked me off last night with his comments toward Jordin. I think she sounded great and to say her first performance wasn't her best because he didn't like how the arrangements sounded ummmm how is she suppose to control that. Her last song was so awesome and he just slams it by saying it was an old hit, like the hit "I am woman" sung by Melinda wasn't? I hate that song BTW, uggh

I think he's wants Melinda to win and didn't give Blake or Jordin a fair chance.

Hopefully nobody was influenced by his unfair comments.

I thought the kids did their own arrangements... Don't they? I think that's what he was slamming her about, that he didn't like her arrangement of the song.

I too thought Jordin's last song was phenomenal. I'm glad she decided to do that song again. I loved it the first time she did it too. She just has such beautiful control in that song and you can really tell that she's into it when she's singing it. It's one of my favorites that she's done thus far, possibly my very favorite.

Well, off to Indiana now... Talk to you guys later!

confused Community Regular

Jordins last song gave me goosebumps, i love how she does that song.

Simon always has comments about the songs and the ages of the songs and contestants. He is just jealous that he is not young anymore lol

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind

Thank you for your post, @nanny marley It is interesting what you say about 'It's OK not to sleep'. Worrying about sleeping only makes it much harder to sleep.  One of my relatives is an insomniac and I am sure that is part of the problem.  Whereas I once had a neighbour who, if she couldn't sleep, would simply get up again, make a cup of tea, read, do a sudoku or some other small task, and then go back to bed when she felt sleepy again.  I can't think it did her any harm - she lived  well into her nineties. Last week I decided to try a Floradix Magnesium supplement which seems to be helping me to sleep better.  It is a liquid magnesium supplement, so easy to take.  It is gluten free (unlike the Floradix iron supplement).  Might be worth a try.

It could be a fructan intolerance? How do you do with dates?  https://www.dietvsdisease.org/sorry-your-gluten-sensitivity-is-actually-a-fructan-intolerance/
